Everything was fine, when we came back at night from our festival, the people at the reception were a bit rude when I asked for more water bottles when room service didn’t pickup my phone. Apart from that, everything was a good experience.

« Very clean, nice design, great location, but service at the restaurant disastrous »

I stayed one night for a work trip and wanted to treat a business guest to a nice meal in your restaurant in the evening. We were looking to sit outside, but all tables were taken. Many tables that belong to the bar area were free, so we just wanted to sit there to eat. We were informed that it wasn't possible, we could only have snack food there as the tables would not be convenient for us to eat on. we tried to argue, saying that it should be our descision whether we would find it too inconvenient (and we don't, we just wanted proper food after a long day!).. It wasn't possible. We were told it's against the policy.. We gave in and sat at one of the bar area tables and ordered wine, saying that could they please let us know if a table becomes availble as we don't want snack food but a meal. A couple arrived after us asking the same thing that we had. After 45 mins and countless attempts to get any waiters attention, not even the wine had arrived but instead we could observe the next table to be given to that couple by another waiter.. By then we got rather upset. I demanded to speak to the manager on duty who was promised us to come to us to clarify. Unfortunately no manager ever came (but at least 2 glasses of wine). Another 20 mins later we were given a table as it was 21.45 and the restaurant started to get empty. The waiter was unfriendly, brought 2 electronic menues, when we opened it one wasn't working. We asked him and without comment he brought another and shoved it in front of my guest. We started studying the menu and discussing food, noticing we had different menus. we asked the waiter again, he looked, took the wrong menu off me and brought another, again without any word of apology. By 22:10 we finally had food in front of us... I'd really recommend some training in hospitality and coordination of guest services needs to be done in that restaurant.. Second problem I had was in the morning when I was drying my hair in the bathroom. I have long hair and the hair dryer provided in the room has no safety cover on the back where the air gets sucked it. A big strand of my hair got sucked it and tangled and burned inside the fan. It was rather painful. I had to cut the hair off to free myself from the fan.. I had to go to the hairdresser at home to even out the cuts. It's a Health & Safety risk that should be eliminated.

« Pleasant stay »

This is a nice hotel in a good location, although a long walk in the heat to get to the main square. Would have expected more from a Sofitel. Bar staff were not attentive, and never came to take our order. I did book a late check out at 3pm however the reception said this was now 2pm. Small things but these do make a difference to the overall experience. I would not stay here again if I were in Brussels again.

« Convenient location »

The hotel is very comfortable with lots of little extras, dressing gown and slippers, good quality toiletries and tea and coffee making facility. The location is very convenient for shops and restaurants, it is close to the metro and approximately 20 minutes walk to city centre. The staff are very friendly although service in the bar and resaurant can be a bit slow. Food and drinks are a bit more expensive than comparable venues in the city and the breakfast is very disappointing, definitely not worth the money.

« Very poor / rude reception staff - unable or unwilling to address me in Dutch »

On several occasions I tried to address the reception staff in my native language, Dutch, and they would just switch to English as if it’s the most normal thing to do - no apologies, no attempt to find a Dutch speaking colleague, nothing. Brussels is officially bilingual, hence I expect the reception to be able to address me in either... How many Sofitels are there in the world where a local would not be able to be serviced in their own language? Very disappointing, rude and quite frankly extremely disrespectful to a paying customer.

« Really great in all respects! »

- Warm welcome on arrival, excellent reception desk staff. - Was given an upgrade which is always very welcome. And importantly, the room had all criteria I asked for: looking towards the courtyard and not the street, away from the noisy lift, as high floor as possible. - Breakfast is excellent, although I will miss the bread basket, and staff is always helpful and very pleasant. - I always love staying in Sofitel hotels, particularly like the bed. I always enjoy coming to this particular hotel. This stay was even better than usual.

« Terrible restaurant services »

Front desk staff amazing, room a little plain but nice enough. Mostly l booked because of the great patio, but we were disgusted with the service. We waited about 45 minutes to bebbe served the first time. We actually had to move to get service. After that no one came back and I finally had to track someone down to pay the bill. The second time my wife and I attempted find a spot to watch the world cup finals. I got there early and found a spot under and umbrella as it was very hot. We still did not receive service again, but half way through the game the server moved the umbrella we were sitting under for someone else. My wife ended up leaving. When we questioned him he said we should just move. I inform the front desk and they apologies but did nothing. I finally had to ask the front deck to bill the room as we could not get assistance again.

Nice hotel, though lack of cocktails (when we were given vouchers specifically for cocktails) was disappointing. I’m surprised a Sofitel was unable to serve cocktails, when even many Mercures can.
