Our check-in process was very delayed, we were compensated with a drinks voucher for the bar, however this is my second stay here where my check-in has been delayed. The room was great and the bed, along with turndown service, was wonderful! We had some issues with water supply to our room, whereby water was disconnected deliberately by servicemen, I appreciate plumbing issues arise but the manager was not apologetic and unaccommodating.

Opting to stay at the Le Louise for our first wedding anniversary we had an understandably late night but then had our sleep rudely awakened by construction noise at 7:53am which then continued loudly for over an hour until we spoke to the front desk. The sound of drilling, sawing, hammering and general crashing about was unbearably loud - enough to prevent a conversation being held on a number of occasions. Not only this but the noise and smell of work was coming from both immediately outside the window and also the floor above ours. The duty manager could only offer the explanation that work should not have started until 9am and she didn’t know what was happening. The only form of compensation she could offer being to remove the room service charges from our bill (and frankly the room service was sub-par; we had to send my vegan wife’s meal back as the menu made no mention of there being cheese on a dish) and allow us a late checkout - something which is hardly beneficial when we had onward travel booked for a specific time - along with offering us a paltry 300€ of reward points. We are no stranger to the Sofitel brand and simply expect a far greater level of customer experience from your hotels.

When I booked my room I also booked dinner in the hotel restaurant, but I was told that I couldn't eat in the restaurant because there was an event. Room service solved the problem, but I would have preferred to get out of my room. However, I was absolutely disgusted that I was woken up by someone working/banging continuously in the room above me at 07.14 hrs. I have recordings as evidence. If you have to start construction work that early, then you should not put anyone in a room nearby. A 4 star hotel in the centre of Brussels is not a bulding site and you shouldn't start such work until 09.00 or even 10.00 hrs so that your guests can get a good night's rest,

Good hotel - Sofitel standards - with a perfect situation (great shops around, walking distance from Old Town, easy commute) but noisy works in the hotel and outside from early in the morning (6.30am)

Got to the hotel and was told that the bar and hotel was not available. Should have been told this before I visited as I travel a lot for business and so routine is important for me. Having to go out and find somewhere to eat and to have a drink was a total waste of time and would have made a huge difference as to whether I stayed there or not.

+: The hotel is very well located and most of the personnel is very friendly but sometimes not prepared to provide good service. -: Awful smell in the lobby and elevators, horrendous decoration, bad service (1) Receptionist: do you want an extra bed in your room? Me: If there is only one bed in the room and we are 2 adults and 1 child, yes, I obviously need an extra bed” (2) in our bed there was a thick duvet under the bottom sheet (between the sheet and the mattress), making the bed totally uncomfortable so we took it off and when we came back to the hotel at the end of the day it had not been removed of the room, it was thrown in an armchair, making the room a mess.

Nice room, good breakfast with lots of variety, omeletts etc. upon request and really nice waffle maker. Yet for this level I would expect besides free tea on the room a small bottle of water per day.
