Couldn't turn the heating down adequately. Disappointed to find that you would not accept the Complements vouchers my wife had been given to mark long service with her company despite ringing to check that it was OK. You informed us that Accor and Complements Vouchers had split some time ago. On our return we spoke to a friend of my wifes who had successfully used her vouchers at the Ibis in York a couple of weeks earlier. I think you need to get your story straight, I dont think I will be returning to Novotel. I recently retired and found suddenly paying out more than I had budgeted like that difficult. Fortunately, I was aware through many previous visits via my previous employment I was able to find a more cost effective and equally good accommodation for our 2nd night.

The reason why the Ibis took them recently could be that the two hotel has different owners - although they belong to the same brand-family. Although the hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment, I was pleased to see that reception, the restaurant, bar were essentially complete and looked very fresh and stylish. I had a good sleep as usual and enjoyed the drenching showers every morning. I can't wait to see what the rooms look like after the refit. The only downside was the restricted parking due to the refurbishment activity which meant I was not always able to find space on site. The staff were friendly, professional and provided a very personalised service. Many are now familiar faces.

Staff were friendly however only realised that they were works being carried out after I had booked. This didn't cause any problems. The only negative was there was a number of male guests that night I stayed and they were rather load in the bar/restaurant aread

Bit noisy during the day as there was ongoing building work (which wasn't highlighted when booking). Room was adequate. Chromecast not compatible with Wifi. Lack of control of temperature is quite annoying (thermostat just there for show).

We were disappointed to find the Hotel undergoing refurbishment during our stay. This was compounded by having the “Pay in advance” car park having 40% of the spaces fenced off for contractors, hence no guarantee that a space would be available on our return. The main lift was out of action throughout our stay. Thus not the type of stay we expect from Novotel.

The hotel was nice, clean and the rooms were nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was work being completed on the bar and restaurant which we weren't aware of until check in , although we weren't really affected during our stay. The car park was very small and we were expected to pay for parking which I think isn't very good as it's £7 for 24hrs. All round a good hotel and I enjoyed my stay.

Half of the reception area was cordoned off while a team were relaying the floor. I located the dining room as I had arrived early and was waiting for my room to be prepared, had one of the worst machine coffees in memory. Later, I came out of my room and passed a sign saying ‘service lift’ attached to the laundry door so I took no notice and proceeded to the hotel lift. This also had the same simple notice attached to the door so I assumed that the service lift was my new exit point. I relocated my evening meetin to another hotel. I was woken at approximately two twenty by load noises and left before breakfast to catch the early train.
