« Once again noisy air conditioning »

I love staying at the Novotel Stevenage. Each and every time (more than fifty) even if I switch the air conditioning off it starts at about three in the morning tripping on and off every 30 minutes. Not very acceptable.

It was a nice experience, however I do not see the need for these surveys when I completed the last one, gave very good feedback, and when I returned it had not been acted upon. So you do not want to improve the experience at all.

Dear Kathryn D., Thank you for your feed back. I am surprised to find out that nothing has changed from your previous stay. With regards to the pillows, we have what is known as a euro pillow style set in the rooms. The top one, this has one side firm and one side soft. It also folds and doubles up as a support for those who wish to sit up in bed and read. I apologise if this does not suit your needs, this is the current brand standard. The cutlery issue I am also surprised to find out that a member of staff didn't help you and serve you in the lounge area. I apologise that these issues were not resolved on this stay, please be rest assured I am working with the team to get these rectified. We had another excellent experience at the Stevenage Novotel. The manager was very helpful when it came to evening dining and the shefs special menue was both innovative ( and tasty) and a bonus to the choice on the main menu. We shall definatly return

Friendly staff. Food was pretty good. Rooms clean and well equipped. The extractor fans in room 204 did not work and the shower plughole didn’t drain as well as it should. These were minor details that didn’t distract from a good stay.

« Service and facilities were as I expected but surprised at hidden costs and advanced payment requirement. »

Stayed overnight as part of a wedding party. Experience overall was good, staff were welcoming and facilities as to be expected, bar remained open late for us which was good. Food at breakfast was good and there was a wide variety of food to suit most tastes. Early check-in available for wedding party guests very helpful. On the down side I was surprised to be charged £70 per room instead of the expected £60 (this had been negotiated down from £80 to £60 per room because of mini bus unavailability which is good). Was even more surprise to hear of the explanation - the charge was £60 for single occupancy and £70 for 2 person occupancy - that seems a strange policy for wedding guests who usually attend in pairs! Didn't like being charged upfront - never experienced that before not even on an advanced online booking. Also don't like an advanced payment on a card being taken for costs being charged to room and then balance being refunded on check-out. No problem with hotel taking advanced authorisation but your current system implies we're all going to do a runner!

Your staff are some of the best I have dealt with. Only thing is due to poor choice of draught and bottled beer behind the bar. Went elsewhere. No dark bitter like tetleys, John smiths, Worthington e. Do not rate goose island, horrible stuff. Therefore didn't drink or order food in the hotel. Other than that xcellent stay

Service was exceptionally poor. Staff need to learn how to treat people like they would expect to be treated. The rooms were reasonably clean. Breakfast was as expected. The location is ok. The hotel was quiet. There isn’t much to do in the area. Bar staff asked that I pay for a bucket of ice which I found strange.

What I shall never forget is going to the bar to ask for a bucket of ice and being told at first “no”, and then that I would have to pay £6.50. I was shocked by the manner in which I was addressed and the lack of care - if I could I would’ve checked out immediately!!! Never again.
