« A tiring noisy experience »

Arriving around 4pm we found a loud Christmas Party taking place. Our room was well away from the event, so no noise in there. We went to the bar for a drink, but the guests were everywhere, children running about and climbing on furniture and endless noise. We retreated to our room, not what we wanted to do. The room, a superior one, had minimal furniture, not comfortable for an evening’s duration. The general impression was of a tired hotel with corridor carpets having dirty patches. Breakfast was ok, not exciting and the choice of yoghurt was raspberry or raspberry! It struck us as a minimum stay business hotel and we were glad to leave.

« Some good some poor »

Have stayed with you twice a year for last 10 years, on build up to your 4 star things were great but on our last two visits things in certain areas eg Bar and Bar Meaks have fallen away greatly. On last visit far too much attention was being paid to the Party function being held than to the Club Accor people like ourselves who wanted service at the Bar. Reception service was excellent as was the room, but the way very young inexperienced male bar people could not even present a larger and lime and then when they presented the meal put it on the table in front of us and there was a wait of a couple of minutes before the cutlery arrived and then we had to ask for condiments. Not four star and this will put us off coming again which is a shame, but as I say this problem has not been a one off

Quiet and staff helpful. One comment there was no wash hand basin in the separate toilet, had to come out and into the bathroom to wash your hands.

« Room lovely and clean, let down with the restaurant being closed on a Friday evening aso I'd had booked a meal . »

Very clean, had to eat dinner in the Bar due to restaurant being closed as they had no staff . There was no background music which would have helped. The meals we only ate partly , bland , Naan bread hard and burnt .. I'd stay again at your hotel but not eat there. .

Thr hotel in Stevanage is not equipped with basic amenities for guests like first aid kits, laundry services, bathrobes. Front desk staff are indifferent, and not very accurate when it comes to checking which guest made a request.

The room is nicely layout and very clean. Had a good night of sleep because it is very quiet. There are plenty of choices for breakfast. Although slightly disappointed with the porridge as it was cold and congealed. This could due to we had our breakfast after 9am.

Most members of staff I encountered were either rude or just didn't seem to care about doing their jobs well. This created a really bad impression, especially on reception. Low morale. There was one exception - a woman at breakfast, who was very kind and helpful. The room was cold, and the heating was loud and ineffective. The shower wasn't very powerful and the water was warm but not hot. I thought the dinner (I had the vegan tagine) was very good, though a bit over-priced. I couldn't see any evidence for the hotel's claims about being ethical/eco-friendly, beyond non-bleached towels. The cups in the bathroom were still wrapped in plastic, etc. The most off-putting thing was the complications with the booking process.

My elderly mother and I stay at the Novotel every time we visit family in Stevenage . What a most enjoyable time, starting with hugs from Eve. Mum became unwell and had one day in bed when waitress Pam kindly carried a tray along to her room. I reported to reception that my sink was missing a plug but nothing was done until the evening when I again reported it to reception. Within 5 minutes receptionist Carol had found and fitted the plug. It was also a delight to find that my advance requests had been carried out in my choice of room away from the road and in fitting an extra duvet. It was lovely to meet the usual kindly and friendly staff with Eve, Sue, Jane, Pam and Jo who each made us feel at home.

Stayed for two nights whilst visiting relatives nearby - we have stayed here quite often. The room was one of the more modern and recently refitted but the heating didn't work very well and some of the lights didn't work either. The communal areas of the hotel are a bit shabby and the staff not very attentive. Overall, it was clean and comfortable but not 4*

Thoroughly enjoyed the buffet meals. The food was tasty and the chef friendly and helpful. Unfortunately table service was poor - trainees (?) need to check on guests, ensure everything is OK, and ensure any orders are put through and met.
