« Great hotel and staff, bad timing with repairs done during my stay. »

I had an awesome time at your hotel and I love the way it is decorated. The staff is extremely friendly in all areas and it felt really good to be there. The room size is decent and the bed was great. The view wasn't excellent but I didn't give it much importance. The only thing that made my stay feel very bad was that the floor below was under reconstruction and a lot of drilling / noise was reaching my room. Especially when they were working close. I felt this many mornings in a row and that was rather disappointing. Also, it happened on Saturday most of the day when I was trying to get more rest. I hope that you would not allow bookings in the future for the rooms nearby if you intend to make repairs.

Hotel is very pleasant, nice rooms lounge and dining room. However at the moment whilst a major road construction is going on it is very difficult to find using GPS from E25

« Very expensive hotel »

The hotel is a long way outside the centre of Maastrict. The rooms are in need of cleaning up. The resturant is very expensive breakfast cost £20. They then charge us for using the hotels own car park.

Dear Rodney, Thanks for your stay in our hotel. Our hotel is approx. 2.5 km from the historic centre of Maastricht, and only 1 km from the central railwaystation. We are communicating our location as clear as possible on all our websites, sothat our guests know exactly what to expect. I am sorry that you did not know this upfront. I am happy to inform you that we are currently refurbishing all our rooms with fresh new floors and painting. Our extensive breakfastbuffet costs € 18.50 per person, however we give our guests a significant discount on the breakfast if they book the breakfast directly at reservation instead of during their stay. « Reception underpar, good room. »

Unfortunately, the reception service at arrival was underpar if compared to the general Accor offer. After arrival in the early evening (18-19 hours), we had to wait for some time before the receptionnist moved from an adjacent room back to the reception. Given information about the city went no further than what was exactly asked and our question to get adjacent rooms was simply ignored (if no rooms on the same floor were available, at least some relating comment would have been appreciated). The hotel rooms corresponded to the high level I usually experience in Accord hotels.

« Rooms were very small for a 'deluxe room' and very noisy. »

All clean. Very noisy as we could hear the kids from the room above very clearly. Also the rooms are smaller than an Ibis hotel and not to compare with other Novotel hotels I have visited.

Rooms were clean and well equipped. Bar service was very friendly, so was the reception service. Only minor point was the demagnetizations of the room cards twice despite having taken good care of them, but also this issue was resolved fast.

« Uninspiring and in need of a makeover »

Having experienced other Novotel properties around the world, I was expecting a simple yet functional and clean hotel. My experience fell way short of what I expected. The toilet seat was broken; the space in the room was extremely tight (yes, I understand European standards are different to the rest of the world, but this was advertised as a room for 4 people; I had to move the 'seating area' - a chair and a small round table - away to be able to open a sofa bed for my kids). The chair in the seating area was broken (when I tried to move it, the arm pulled off and I had to spend a few minutes pushing it back in place); and the carpet had a bad stain. If the facilities were mediocre (to say the least), service was uninspiring and downright below expectations. After arriving I decided to go out with my children to visit the Maastricht Christmas markets, so I asked reception if they could get the room ready with the sofa bed open and made. The response? That it was easy to do and I should make it myself. I also pointed out that there were only 2 towels in the bedroom and there were three of us, and I was told to go to a closet at the end of the corridor and get more myself. The next day, as I checked out, I noticed they had overcharged me (they had added parking to my bill, even though we travelled to Maastricht by train and arrived on foot!). I then asked if there was transport to the train station and the young guy at reception, in half broken english, told me that yes, in about 10 mins. When the 10 mins arrived and we went out to get in the minibus, a large family took all the seats on the minibus. I asked the young guy (who was now the driver of the minibus) how were we supposed to get to the train station now that all seats had been taken; his answer? "But you didn't book the minibus"!! After pointing out that he had made no mention that we needed to book it, he said he'd come back for us - and luckily he did! For a hotel that charges over 200 euros per night, this was downright dissapointing. My AirBnB in Utrecht cost me a fraction of this price, offered a larger area with a kitchen, and the host had much better manners than anyone at the Novotel. I know what I will do next time I am travelling and have a choice between Novotel and AirBnb!!

We enjoyed our stay. However, the hotel is a bit far from the city center. The shuttle bus should be organised in both directions. We liked the spacious bar and restaurant area where we had a drink and dinner. the portions were good. Very friendly service. The rooms could do with some renovation (painting, new carpets). The room was very quiet. We liked the extra door in the room (between bedroom and toilet). We did not like the paper cups for tea and coffee, real cups would be much better.
