« So disappointed to Austria... Never stay at any Mercure again! »

Only got 2 options of the room type standard / deluxe, we chose the deluxe for staying totally 3 nights by paying €429 in total.We checked in there at about 1800 Friday evening, there were plenty of public parking area right in front of the hotel, the sign writes in German, Mon - Fri 09-18 need to pay, 3 hrs at maxium, since it is written in German, I wanna make sure if we can park there and need not to pay till Monday, so I asked the Front Desk when check in, but both of the staffs said we HAVE to pay and it only allows to park 3 hours at maxium, otherwise there's a penalty! They both strongly suggested us to park at their garage which costs €13 per day, we then hesitated...for our experience, the staffs at hotel should know better than a traveller, so we decided to follow their advice and go get our car to park at their garage, by then, we then met 3 polices outside and they told us it's free till Monday 9am! This hotel gave me a bad image at once, it's not only a money issue, but also a fake information to a traveller. Finally, I only paid €1.7 to park right in front of the hotel for my whole staying instead of paying €52 at their garage!As for my 2nd night staying, the housekeeping didnt refill the toilet paper and shampoo for us, it was only 8:30 pm, I totally phoned 5 times, (3 to housekeeping, 2 to front desk) not until 10:30 pm, the front desk picked up my call FINALLY! I told him my case and he didn't apologize for their forgotten at all but only simply told me "no housekeeping now, will give you tomorrow morning" I asked if they can find me the toilet paper, but again, "no housekeeping now!" ... Very well service indeed! At 1030 next morning, of course, there was no one bring us anything! The irony is, there's a card inside the room says, "... You can call our quality host on duty at anytime by dailing 2424" !!!It costed €420 for 3 nights without breakfast in an early September, such room rate with such unbelievable service, frankly it's really my first time to experience. So much regret to make choice of staying at Mercure hotel, totally ruined my feeling for Salzburg, as well as Austria, too!!We will never choose Mercure again... So disappointed to Austrians..

Perfect location for a city trip. Situated in walking distance from the old town. Nice but small room, perfect for 2 nights. In case of longer stay, the room is small. Some parts of the hotel need freshening up.

Service level expected for a Budget or F1 Accor hotels, surely not for a Mercure.Rooms are good and location is OK, although the website indicates it as much closer to the City Center than it really is

Friendly check-in, fantastic room and professional service throughout. 15 mins from Salzburg old town so very convenient for all attractions and restaurants etc. That said, meals at the hotel were also very good. Highly recommended and would stay again.

A very nice hotel in quiet place but not far from center or railway station. The room had all we needed, also kettle and fridge. Breakfast was tasty and plenty to choose. Only negative was annoying music clearly heard on both late afternoons / evenings, like someone practicing flute or some other instrument. All in all a comfort stay.

An enjoyable stay 15 mins walk from the centre of Salzburg. The hotel provided friendly staff, clean, comfortable rooms and a restaurant offering a variety of local and international dishes. The location was in a quiet neighbourhood and was close to various restaurants, shops and supermarkets. A good base from which to explore Salzburg and its surroundings.

We had a great experience at this hotel. The check in process was very smooth and when I asked about an extra bed being made available for our 10 year old, the receptionist advised that we didn't have one in the current room so she moved us and within 10 minutes the extra bed had been delivered and made up. The breakfast choice was plentiful and re-stocked regularly. The food was excellent quality. The receptionists and the bar tender were very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again if we ever came back to Salzburg. One thing to note for other guests coming from the airport is that the No.2 bus stops a couple of minutes away on the main road round the corner from the hotel which would be cheaper alternative to getting a taxi each way.

All good except the wifi speed was exceptionally slow. Even when I paid for the unrestricted connection it was appalling - almost unusable. No wonder it was free!!! Also it’s advertised as city centre but still quite a way from the main attractions like Old Town.

The location of the hotel is good everything is in walking distance. The King size bed is bowed means in the middle it is higher than the outside. Perhaps this is compensation when he matrasses is getting older. The room is slightly overpriced. All the requests were fulfilled which was appreciated. The room was quite, which can hardly be the case by the other Accor hotels nearby, which are positioned on the main street a hundred meters down the side street. Restaurants and even a night club is in walking distance.

Stafff was nice and responded fien to requests. The hairdraier did not work, which was a problem to my wife. It was replaced and it still didi not work, replaced again and did not work! The turnaround foe the laundry was 36 hours, too long for most guests, and did not work on holidays, which was a problem to us. The room was smaller than I expected. More suitabkle to one person than to two.

From the check in, to the restaurant, to the breakfast and finally to the check -out and payment of the account, there was not one positive experience at this hotel! I am writing this from a Mercure hotel in Munich, which thankfully has restored my faith in the brand as every experience has been of a professional standard! At your hotel, there was confusion re the number of guests that had been booked for - the hotel had one, yet I understood that I had booked for two and definitely pre-arranged a dinner for 2, based on a special offer on your website when booking. It took 15+ minutes, with 2 staff members to sort this out and I was given not one, but 2 estimates of the extra cost. Then came the dinner experience; the young man although most helpful had no idea of any pre-paid dinner voucher arrangement (which is advertised on your website) and this caused confusion. The restaurant was massively understaffed that evening as well with many guests clearly showing dissatisfaction. Next the breakfast experience - constantly being advised on entering that we only had one breakfast allowance when this was supposedly sorted out at check-in. To make matters worse there was long delays to obtain a table that had been reset, despite observing a hotel ? management / staff person in a suit etc, entering from the kitchen with their name tags visible, then serve themselves breakfast and leave via the kitchen, whilst paying guests patiently waited for a cleared table to have their own breakfast, ourselves included! Finally the check-out which took almost 15 minutes because after checking the bill I found that we had been double charged for 3 breakfasts resulting in a refund of E 45. Whilst the bill was being sorted out the queue of other guests grew and grew - yet despite people coming and going from the Director's Office, not one person was to assist the receptionist with the other guests to check-out. In summary, having stayed at 5 Accor hotels in the past year in 3 continents this was a most unprofessional performance and reflected badly on the Accor brand. I will be commenting directly on this to Accor head office. Excellent hotel accomodataccom, spaceous and cozy rooms. The breakfast was very good and the staff is polite. The only point that one may find inconvenient is the distance from the old city. However, if you don't mind to walk, it may not bother you. Nonetheless, there are buses in the vicinity. The hotel also offers a restaurant where you can have dinner at the same price you would have in the old city.

The hotel is located close to the center of Salzburg. There's a secure underground parking space. The room and bathroom have a good size. The smell of the room could be improved. Checking in could've been a little faster. The breakfast is great. The water bottle in the room should be replaced when it's empty.

« Mostly good with a few silly errors »

Room on the whole was clean and well equipped however shower did not drain effectively so nearly overflowed during normal use, air con did not work and there was a hideous, threadbare cushion left on the bed which looked like a cat had used it as a scratching post - why this was left in the room I simply do not understand.
