The location was perfect, next to shaw center and rideau center. The room was small (an armchair jammed between the window and bed was unusable), rug was bunched up, heater was strange- the room always seemed cold, even with the heat turned up. Internet and TV were very good. Bed was comfortable, bathroom had counter space, a good shower. The restaurant downstairs is trendy but excellent. I recall the price was high, but normal for ottawa.

Check in was fast and easy. I found it odd there was no in-house parking. I had no hot water for my shower the first morning. Unfortunate that I had to get up an hour earlier than required just so I could have hot water the 2nd morning I was there. Also, the furnishings in the room are pretty basic. Chairs look like something I would expect in a boardroom, not a bedroom.

« Great experience. »

The Novotel Hotel was very clean and newly renovated. The staff were all very friendly, they offered to hold our luggage before check in as we arrived early and after our stay. They are located right in the heart of downtown Ottawa within walking distance to most tourist destinations. The buffet breakfast included with our stay was excellent. Over all we were very happy with our stay and will be back on our next visit!

« Very poor customer service spoilt my business trip. »

The room itself was adequate. However I had great trouble setting my bill, with rude and insolent staff, a lack of empathy and understanding and abysmal communication. I tried complaining to the general manager multiple times, but was told he was unavailable. The hotel broke various visa and mastercard terms and conditions, and withheld my money unduly. I have four more trips to ottawa planned this year, and am very reluctant to travel to this hotel, which I normally do.

I'm one of the few people who doesn't have a laptop so when I saw the computers in the lobby I was so thrilled to be able to get my work done while on the road. The staff at the front are so helpful!

Everything was good except the lighting. I could find no overhead lifting at all and insufficient lamps. Only bedside and bear the desk, so unpacking, getting dressed and just being in the room rentals was always dim and not adequate.

While checking in, the staff were great. Friendly, thorough and helpful. Unfortunately, that was the best part about my stay. I barely slept the night with the paper thin doors and noisy ally way. I was located across from the ice machine and could hear people getting ice and talking from 2:00-2:30am. I was woken up at 4:30am by the graders cleaning the streets below. I had to sleep with a pillow over my head. Finally, the room didn't have a pleasant odor, which is probably due to the age of the hotel.
