You will not beat $132 a night in the PERFECT location in Ghent. The room was small and lovely....great shower! The staff did a fine job.

« Fantastic location, fairly basic accommodation but room was clean. Staff very helpful. »

The room was quite small but it was clean and air conditioned which was lovely in the heat-wave! The only cons to the room is that it didn't have a kettle in the room which would have been nice, and the breakfast is expensive!

I stayed at the Ibis Gent St Baaf's Cathedral for three nights. Check-in took more time than I would have expected. Although there were three people at the reception desk, only one seemed to be dealing with the guests checking in or with other inquiries. The other two people were going about some other business. This was the primary problem that I encountered, as otherwise staff in the breakfast room and at the front desk were helpful. I was especially impressed by the breakfast buffet that included local touches like waffles.

« Bathroom layout uncomfortable »

The staff, cleanliness, having 2 windows which opened and the room view were all great. Angle of bed not comfortable, in a superior room I would expect for both people in the bed to get in and out easily. This wasn’t the case as the bed was against the wall on one side and because the outer wall was at an angle even when we pulled the bed over it was difficult for the other side of the bed to get past the tv. The bathroom is a very bad design. You can’t sit on the toilet properly if you have long legs. The spare toilet roll holder sticks in to your knee/ shins. It needs to be moved to a different position. The hand basin is too deep so there isn’t a lot of room between the door and the edge of the basin. The complaint is one about design not of maintenance or cleanliness. The staff were great.

Great position, but staying the Hotel was joyless and hard work. Staff seem disconnected and unsupervised. The Hotel is obviously run by an Accountant with no Hospitality focus.

As I only see one payment in our system. One from 603.5€ from Mastercard on the 26th of June (day of departure). I presume the receptionist took a reservation on your credit card upon check-in? The hotel was not very clean,the staff were rude by asking for payment before we had even settled in when asked for receipt they could not understand what we were asking for Bedrooms were very poor,and a terrible smell of sewerage from the bathroom At breakfast we were asked 4 times had we paid for our breakfast,(when it was inclusive anyway),the breakfast area was very hot so you weren't able to enjoy your breakfast at all , so we just left I would never stay in a Ibis hotel again very poor,and deserves a 6.4 rating on booking sights

No problem with the hotel, although the way to come by car, with the driving restrictions in the town centre, should have been explained before arriving. Then, our friends (CASSIO Laurence & Philippe) have been charged 120€ for no apparent reason - could you please check this?

« didnt like the room »

The curtains hanging on the windows were meant to darken the room , but if i needed a daylight or wanting to sleep having some view of outside - there was no chance to make it happen without letting your neighbors seeing all through the window. So i felt myself in a black box where i had to turn the lights on even it's been nicely bright inside. The second issue was the check-in procedure and that was very strange thing. I checked in online and received a message saying the key of my room is waiting for me at the reception, and also an email confirmation. When i came up , it all seemed to be fake and i needed to check in physically at the reception. The only thing i found as positive was the air conditioning and the staf who made my check in happen. To say that they were highly friendly would be a huge exaggeration.

As we experienced before in Ibis Gent Cathedral staff was very friendly. Especially at breakfast staff was very helpful and nice. Rooms are pretty small but normal in the centre of cities. All in all value for money. The collecting of empty bottles at The Abt restaurant wakes you up in time. That too is allright in a city.
