The hotel is really in the city. The staff is very friendly and we felt welcome. The room was very clean and everything was functioning as it should. We would certainly book this hotel on our next stay.

First of the location of the hotel is perfect and the staff was nice. However, we chose for the superior room, expecting a nice room with (as mentioned on the website) a LARGE double bed, but this was not what we got. Instead we got a small room, with quite some damage to the walls and furniture and a very small (1.40m wide) bed, which was also very hard. Next to that, we weren't even able to sit on the toilet properly because there just was no space for your legs. Overall the location and Gent itself was very nice, but we were not very satisfied with the hotel room.

Bij Ibis, streven we naar een hoogwaardige dienstverlening voor elke gast; uw commentaar is daarom erg belangrijk voor ons. Het spijt ons te horen dat de kamer niet aan uw verwachtingen heeft voldaan; Het is ontzettend jammer dat uitgerekend u, die op voorhand een groot bed/ruime kamer heeft gevraagd wordt ingecheckt op een hoekkamer, een kamer met mooi uitzicht maar met een kleiner bed. Bij deze onze oprechte verontschuldigigen! Heeft u aan onze receptie gevraagd of er een mogelijkheid was om de kamer te wisselen zodat wij onze fout alsnog konden rechtzetten? Het is voor ons belangrijk dat dergelijke situaties naar tevredenheid van de gast worden opgelost dus uw info kan ons zeker helpen om dit in de toekomst te voorkomen. Using a car sat nav it was very difficult to find the hotel and then found your car park is small so was full and the nearest car park is a 15 minute walk away. Particularly annoying as I had a damaged knee and couldn't walk very well. The P5 car park was good though. The room I had was angular which made it feel uncomfortable even though it wasn't. Bed was nice and I slept well. Breakfast was nice too so were your receptionists.

Since the beginning of April 2018 we have a new mobility plan in Ghent, but some of gps are not updated. Parking Kouter is not so far away from the hotel , but I can imagine that it is a whole operation with a damaged knee. Very sorry for that. Enjoyed our stay in Gent. Staff were friendly. The breakfast is ok. The room was just big enough. The parking was very tight for a van. The entrance could be wider. The city is lovely.

The hotel was clean and ideally situated to visit the old parts of the city. Despite being adjacent to the cathedral and tram routes it was very quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times.

I had trouble finding the parking of the hotel and although the employees were very helpful, they did not know how to describe the location to me. The breakfast was ok. The room however, was not clean and smelled funny.

Very friendly staff. Spacious hotel room. Good breakfast. Just a pity I got woken up multiple times by other hotels guests as it felt they were coming into my room. Especially, as I requested a room in the quieter part of the hotel.

Good accommodations and location - but a nightmare to find by GPS

The hotel was fine. Comfortable bed. Clean. Helpful/accommodating staff. Good parking facility. My major complaint was finding the hotel. The confirmation we received did not warn us or instruct us as to how to find the hotel or get to the parking garage. What's more, the sign is pointed in a direction that makes it difficult to see from the road as you approach it. As a result, the hotel was entered into our GPS. But the GPS did not really know where the hotel is or how to approach it and, though we were led to the hotel, and we drove right past it because of the "hidden" signage. Then, the GPS could no longer find the hotel, instructing us to drive down one-way streets in the wrong direction. We tried using the GPS in the rental car, Apple, Waze, and Google Maps Same result. It took us more than 2 hours after passing the hotel to find the hotel - after 3 near accidents and lots of confused help from a hotel employee by phone (who was very nice and certainly was trying hard, but just could not help us sufficiently well) - to finally arrive there. As a result, we lost lots of valuable time to see the sights in Gent and this experience certainly reflected poorly on our happiness with the hotel. Ibis needs to do a much better job with effectively communicating travel instructions to reach/find the hotel.

Since April last year the hotel is located in the pedestrian zone of Ghent. As we are in the city center we are also not allowed to put large signage or signage to come to the hotel. I'm really very sorry that you lost so much. Did you have your plate number to our reception staff for registration ? The only thing I can do is sending your email to Mobility Gent and show them that there are still problems with the GPS. We were only in Ghent for an afternoon and a morning, travelling back to the UK from Holland. The hotel did just what we wanted it to. Right in the middle of the city with the cathedral and city centre literally on our doorstep. Parking underneath the hotel was ideal. Very efficient check in and check out, both on line, and very courteous staff. Couldn't have asked for much more really.

On 23 Feb, I booked a room with one double bed via AccorHotels website. When I arrived, they gave me a key and once I opened the door, I saw two small beds put together. I immediately went down to the reception and they told me they upgraded my room because I’m a silver member. I explained to them that this is not an upgrade (rather downgrade) especially because I booked one double bed almost 2 months advance to make sure I have 1 big bed and not 2 small beds. It was around 5pm and they said everyone checked in already, so they don’t have any available room with one double bed - which surprises me that I was the last one to check in (lame lie). They also said the hotel is under renovation, so they don’t have enough room and cannot change my room. I insisted that my reservation was made directly with the hotel and not via booking.com or other third party site and I didn’t book a random room, but a room with one double bed. They said they would put 2 beds together to make them look like 1 bed. I told them that will not allow me to sleep in the middle of the bed comfortably. Finally they said they have to call their manager. After a long wait, finally I got a room in front of the room initially allocated to me. It was a room with one double bed like I originally requested. The hotel wasn’t full or if it was full, not everyone has checked in. On top I saw in the room that the hotel has 15 min policy that any issue about the room can be solved within 15 min, which was not the case for me. I would like to know how else I could have done at the booking to make sure I have the room I want. I thought I booked early enough (2 months advance) and the direct booking was the best way rather than third party site. But none of them helped me and the reception said I got upgraded to a room that I least wanted. To add, the room they upgraded didn’t look bigger nor cleaner than the other room I stayed. I don’t think it was even an upgrade. They didn’t apologise even once. Why did I not get the room I booked to begin with? Why couldn’t they call their manager immediately when I went down to say that the room was different from my booking? Why did they not even try to quickly solve my issue even though you have 15 min policy? I await for your reply.

The hotel was fully booked last weekend -including the rooms that were out of service due to renovation- .After calling the duty manager they decided to get one of rooms that were blocked for painting and put it back in order. Very sorry that it took a while before we came with a suitable offer but please note that we did not do this on purpose. If you really want a double bed, I would recommend to put it in the remarks so that we can immediately block your requested roomtype. Great Location and lovely staff at this IBIS Red. we use IBIS regularly and the Bathroom was certainly better than IBIS Budget but that was the only difference in my opinion. nice bar downstairs but €26 for the car park was well over the top in my opinion.

The hotel is right across the street from St Baff's Kathedral. Step outside and you are in the heart of Gent, with easy accessibility to all the sights and all the pleasures of the city without huge crowds. The room is somewhat small, but quite adequate. The breakfast in the restaurant was very good.
