We almost always use Novatels when we require accommodation abroad. Our experience in Lille certainly lived up to our expectation. Very clean and comfortable room and well presented as was the whole of the hotel. All staff were helpful, professional and friendly nothing was too much trouble. Far from looking like the pictures. Not worth the money. Smells like dust and stagnant water Review of Novotel Lille Centre Grand Place Pending review We were disappointed and regretted choosing this property for our stay in Lille. The room felt so used by the thousands of guests who have stayed there over decades that we didn't dare touching anything; I didn't dare seat on the sofa in the room either. It smelled of dusty carpet and stagnant water. The carpet was so old that it was discoloured. It was hard to tell whether everything was dirty or dusty or just having lost its freshness a long time ago. Hallways have the same uninviting quality. That is not ok for a hotel advertized and sold as it is. We are not rating our stay based on our expectations (we didn't have any), but based on what this hotel is promising. Apparently it is a 4-star hotel, the pictures on the website make it look like great and it is priced accordingly. It is 2018 and there are many accommodation options, including outside of the hotel industry. We nonetheless chose this property. The pictures look nice and the rating is high. I guess the areas of the hotel that look good on picture are some common areas that we didn't use (the restaurant maybe?). I see many reviews from guests that echo my feeling, but somehow it does not translate on the rating, which mislead me into thinking that a large majority of guests had a great experience there. Many reviews are in fact unenthusiastic at best. This hotel badly reflects on the Novotel and Accor brands: there was a flyer in the room advertizing other properties of the group and I thought that they looked nice, but immediately told myself that they looked good on paper, but are probably as disappointing as this one. I know what you will reply to my review, so I can already add it here for you. It is useless; if you really care about your guests, please close and renovate this hotel or price it and advertize it in a way that is aligned with the reality of this place. « Great Location. Good Value. Breakfast could be better »

A very well located hotel. Room on 5th floor was quiet and had great view of tower at Grand Place. Clean, good beds, shower and wifi. Breakfast was busy with cups and plates running out and tables uncleared. Selection could have been better. Staff were friendly. Nice touch was mini bar for own milk with just a complementary water supplied each day. Air con only seemed to give heat, perhaps as was March. It was a bit cold to open windows, but room was then rather stuffy. Car parking at the public Nouveau Siècle underground car park is reasonably handy and price OK but more information could be provided in advance as to how to get there and not to be put off if it seems full and the door is closed! It would be very convenient if the passageway at ground floor level through the hotel was open.

Easy and relax. Staff (Estelle as well as all the others) was wonderful and helpful. The on-line booking system cancelled my reservation for a mysterious reason. I called the Accor call centre. That was a disaster. No one could help me. I was furious (I stay more than 60 nights a year in Accord hotels and no one could help me with my reservation!). The call centre is really below standards. I was then in touch with the Hotel directly and they helped me a lot! Estelle was great. Everything was sorted out easily by the hotel itself. Not by the call centre of Accor.

I was only there for 1 night on this particular stay but I used the fitness room/gym and the hotel was next to my office. I therefore found the Novotel suited my needs. If I were to make 1 observation, I have liked the fitness room to open before 7am so that I could use it in the morning also.

There was no help or instructions about how the breakfast buffet worked and where to sit. The bar service was by call button but finding where it was made ordering difficult. The hotel was general cold.

Very welcoming and efficient. I am a cold person, so when I phoned late at night for an additional duvet late at night, one was brought quickly. The only problem was at checkout, when the bill was higher than what my booking confirmation stated.
