I just left from a short 3 night visit as Sofitel La Defence. I was here on business with two colleagues, we had three separate rooms I was in room 810, from Friday 8th-Monday 11th. I am truly stunned how this is classified as a 5 star hotel, the facilities are that of a three star hotel at best, no cooked food after 11.30pm, no 24hr bar, no real restaurant (even though signs still show there is one! No-one offering to take your bags to the room, locked door in the evening? We had to stand in the rain and wait for the doors to be opened for us. The state of the rooms was just shocking. The bathrooms are disgusting, my flushing wasn’t working and even though I reported it no one bothered to come fix it, I had to use the bin to flush the toilet, it felt as if I was in a third world country. Dirty glass in bathroom, filth and grit all over the shower, broken switches, peeling paint, ceiling plaster coming off, mini bar door falling off and doesn’t close, tables stained, plugs not working... Have stayed at Sofitels in the past and enjoyed my stay, but was so embarrassed to have booked this for me and my partners, literally had to apologise to them constantly as this experience was really shocking. The rating needs to be adjusted on this hotel or guests should be warned that if they book a standard room, they will be getting bed and breakfast style quality.

An all-too brief two night stay. Check in and check out were friendly, helpful and flawless. Special thanks to Vishnu who, on learning that I had a bad cold, produced a warm drink of lemon and honey for me after breakfast. « clean, quite rooms, good breakfast »

rooms were large, clean and quite. the bed was very comfortable. bathroom was large and modern. breakfast was very nice. however my problem with the hotel was the road to reach the hotel. If you use car or taxi it is too difficult to reach the hotel through underway, bridges etc like a labirent and even we lost our way a couple of times.if you use metro it is more easy but if you are not late since the area is very quite after 11.00 pm and it can be frightening to walk even 200 m.

« Care and attention »

The right location was what I was looking for. La Défense easily accessible from the hotel. Paris is just next door using public transportation or Taxi/Uber. Service in line with Sofitel quality expectations. No swimming pool and quite a small fitness center. Staff presence a bit excessive: a call to check if everything was fine, someone brought sweeties and another one wanted to prepare for the room for the night. Upsetting when you try to work from the Hotel. But I admit I didn't put the "DO NOT DISTRUB" sign. My fault.

« Email is not responding and operator is not helping. »

I was checking out on 2/2, and would not able to complete the payment due to charges dispute. When I have returned to my country I saw the email sent to me on the bill and I have requested to split my spouse to different invoice so that I can pay via separate card. I contacted the hotel and they informed me the manager to contacted but I have not received any email on the response. I contact the number today and the operator did not even bother to understand my issues but just ask me reply the email again or call back later. When I ask about the name and she refused to tell the name and keep telling me she is the operator. I was quiet frustrated with the slow response and the way they handle the customer inquiries.

Very pleasant stay, as per usual. I was puzzled by one issue, however. I booked a room in which breakfast 'buffet' was included . As I checked in, I informed the front desk that I wanted to use room service and have breakfast in the room. I was told breakfast was à la carte and there would be a cover charge - which I found perfectly normal. What was less normal is that that this breakfast charge would come on top of the price of the breakfast 'buffet' which I had already paid for! It was impossible to either cancel, or compensate, the price of the breakfast 'buffet'. This is unacceptable. While the person at the front desk was very professional, and tried to find solutions, I ended up having breakfast alone at the 'buffet', and then bring some pastries to my wife in the room.... Not great for a hotel of your class, don't you think?

Srs, Good Night! Unfortunately my stay at the Sofitel La Defense Hotel was totally out of the way I imagined / expected. When I chose Sofitel whose rating is of 5 stars (*****) I thought I would have an exceptional service, a hotel within expectation versus rating, a nice and cozy room, but it was not quite what happened. There are problems encountered. 1. On the first night, with a cold of -2 degrees Celsius, the shower did not overheat, it means the water was not getting warm and it was almost impossible to take a shower at the first night, we took more than 30 minutes trying to fix the shower and then, at the second night, the room was changed. 2. In the new room, the bathroom light had problem to turn it on. This happened for a couple of days, but soon we got used to the problem, we stayed until the end of our accommodation period. 3. Whenever we went out to visit the city when we came back, room service had cleaned, but always the classes were dirty, had one day that towels were not changed and sometimes the "complimentary" coffee was not replenished and I had to take the decaf. 4. The internet was terrible because it had a bad and weak signal, and sometimes it crashed. Until now the issues mentioned above were serious, but for our surprise we had worst issues as follow below: 5. When we requested to close the account, to our surprise we were presented with an account in the amount of almost EUR 600. In this account had been posted expenses that were not of our room / knowledge, meals in duplicate, tours carried out released several times. This caused us an unnecessary embarrassment. We had to prove what we had used. The final value was EUR 225, meaning they had almost triple the value. 6. Agreed with the hotel to visit the Louvre Museum, where we were informed that it would be EUR 17 per person and together we would add EUR 34, but when closing the bill, this tour charged EUR 21 per person, adding EUR 42. The reception said that EUR 42 was with taxes, but at the time we bought it was never informed about. 7. On a few days we had dinner in the room, and when this happened we requested loans for plates and cutlery, but we suffered the embarrassment of asking what room we were, as if we were taking these items away. It was terrible. 8. We had room service, one night for dinner. The dinner was EUR 106. When the meal was delivered. It came with no folks, no salad and the meat was cold. Totally not acceptable. * One last question I am asking myself is: If I stayed at the Sofitel Paris La Defense for 11 days with one other person, the tourist tax is EUR 3,30 (per person), and EUR 6,60 (for both). I was charged EUR 75 (paid in cash) the day I arrived. Why did they charge me another EUR 7,50 at checkout? What was this money for? I hope I will not stay at any Sofitel hotel any more. What I spent at the Sofitel Paris La Defense was one of the worst experiences of my life. Informations: Name. The restaurant was not at all busy in the evening but getting peoples attention was difficult. Breakfast at this hotel has always been very poor choice and very expensive for what it is. The hotel is well situated in La Defense. At check-in, I was told I get an upgrade due to my membership. The room was ok, yet a bit worn out, and didn't feel like an upgrade. Breakfast was average. On the first day, the cappucino I ordered never arrived. The dinner options good and tasty. Great service by the bar in the evening. Still, this Sofitel is better than the Novotel and Mercure in the same area, as it should be. However the Mercure's renovated rooms and the well-run restaurant are reducing the distance! The Melia close-by offers better service. I would like to credit the bar team for producing an excellent Espresso Martini for me, although it wasn't on the menu. Thank you!
