« Just one problem »

The hotel was fine, clean and easily reached by subway from city-centre Toronto. The only problem we had was an extra tax charge. We had paid the bill some months in advance and did not expect an extra charge. On arrival, the concierge asked for a card to be lodged in case of incidental charges (which we assumed to be for room-service, telephone calls and so-on). Our card - pre-loaded with Canadian currency - was not acceptable. He lodged a Sterling debit card instead, and the unexpected tax charge has since incurred an edge-of-the-spread exchange rate and a charge from our bank. The charge was not overly expensive, but the principle will make me look elsewhere next time despite an enjoyable stay.

Hello, The stay was pleasant and the room felt clean and fresh. While it is evident that the room and bathroom have been cleaned, there is some mold in the tile grout and staining in the crevasses within the hand sink that detracts from the overall cleanliness of the bathroom. Friendly and very helpful staff. Happy the transportation system was right there. Enjoyed the breakfast each morning as well as swimming laps in the pool. Especially liked the friendly staff at the welcome desk. They guided us very well.

« Never Again! »

Reservation was for a newly renovated room with a walk-in shower an close to the elevator. Room was all the down the hallway nowhere close to the elevator & when we got to the room is was with a bathtub,horrible smell and not renovated. Had to call front desk and they quickly changed us to a handicapped room (which was not what we reserved) however we cut our stay short and went to the Intercontinental which was 1st class all the way. Although staff nice enough hotel is on serious need of some T.L.C

The major draw back was that you could not order a small portion meal in the dining room just the 3 course meal.

« This time was challenging »

We've stayed at Novotel at least 10 times, but this time was way less enjoyable, and quite challenging, to say the least. First, the water pipes in the bathroom sink were reversed, so the cold water was on the left side -- contrary to everyone's experience and so very dangerous. The water pipes to the tub/shower were as they should be, but since there were no directions for using the new-fangled shower, I received a face full of water and much water on the bathroom floor while using the trial and error method to figure it out. Second, the bathroom mirror was positioned so as to be almost useless, and since there was no other mirror in the entire room (that's right, no mirror of any kind, let alone a full length one, in the bedroom), that's crucial. BTW, I've never encountered a mirrorless hotel bedroom! Third, the computer/printer in the lobby should have had a notice that printing is only available from the screen to the right of the printer-- since there are 2 screens with a printer between them, the natural assumption is that both screens are connected to the printer. We nearly completely screwed up our airline boarding passes because we used the wrong computer. Novotel is ideally situated for visiting all of our relatives in Toronto, so I certainly hope that all the easily fixable problems are addressed. Our stays -- except for this most recent one -- have always been quite enjoyable.

« Is there a point to having a check in time? »

Although the hotel is beautiful, my friend and I were dismayed that we were made to sit in the lobby waiting to get up to our hotel room for almost a full hour after our arrival at 4:00 to get up to our room. This was especially upsetting to us as we had to get ready to go to a bachelorette party in downtown Toronto at 6. This forced us to take a $50 uber when we had planned enough time to take the TTC for at least part of our trip. It took over 50 minutes of us waiting for someone to get the supervisor to look into our issues. Although the receptionist was very kind and she seemed to be trying, no one else seemed to be that concerned. It was disappointing as I had stayed in the same hotel in the past and had an excellent experience but this time was just a bust.

« A comfortable, clean place to stay a few nights. »

The breakfast was good and plentiful. The hotel was in convenient location close to the public transportation and easy connection to the airport. The room # 1008 was small. We were happy to get the room changed to one with a chair in the shower to meet that need. The shower curtain could be a little bit longer or lower so that it wouldn't let the water leak into the rest of the bathroom when showering. It could be more hooks to hold the towels. When showering the shower head kept falling down (the shower head holder is worn out).

« Nice little spot in the middle of retail central »

We stayed in room 209 with a jaquzzi tub on July 6, 2018. The hotel decore is upbeat and inviting. There is some construction going on but there is no overwhelming footprint of that. The room is spacious, has a balcony, fridge, coffee maker with decent coffee, nice Paul Mitchell wash products, comfortable bed. More spacious than most hotels in the same category. We didn’t appreciate the cement drilling noises at 8 am, but we had to get up anyway to get to the airport on time. Casual, lots of free parking, across from Dave & Busters, has a gym and a pool. Breakfast till 10 am. Free easy wifi that works and very friendly staff. I don’t do this often, but I’m going to say that this hotel is well run, as displayed by the staff culture and attitude. I would recommend staying here to anyone, business or family. Good job.

« Excellent Location »

We were extremely pleased with the service, decor and perfect position of the hotel for easy access to the transit system. Our only disappointment was the Tourism Tax addition to the invoice which had been prepaid much earlier in the Year. Whilst we understand that this is now a requirement for the region, surely as it was known at the time the booking was made, it should have been included at that time. Also to date this extra sum is still showing as a pending payment to Barclaycard even though it was paid In cash at checkout.

« EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED: Mine is business trip with need for work in off hours from the hotel »

My trip was good but the poor wifi made my stay disappointing. I came here for work and it requires me to work sometime from the room after coming back from office. Wifi was pathetic and stuff were trying to help me but they are trying to explain me how the wifi works but they don't know that I came all way from India not to take lectures on how the wifi works. Wifi support person said I should be happy for what I was getting for "complementary wifi". I just spent my time here as I don't have any hotel near by. I would like to inform the same to my companies travel desk.
