I checked in Sunday evening to find their were revellers from the local festival, it was nice to see people enjoying themselves and the atmosphere in the bar was lively. However the night turned very sour, the room next door to mine was party central- screaming, loud rave music and banging went on throughout the entire evening and small hours of the morning. Noise complaint was not dealt with as the gent on reception was the only member of staff on reception! Very unsettling with a hotel of your size, however sickness can’t be help although i would have expected someone from the management team to step up and demonstrate the values and put that shift in! I had roughly two hours sleep, Pauline who i spoke with make apologies- this is very out of character and I haven’t or wouldn’t expect the same again. Now on to my second night stay - it started badly, i was extremely tired on my return to the hotel and headed straight to the bar to order room service. The young lady who placed the order was possibly one of the rudest unhelpful people i have ever crossed paths with. Forget the blank expression on her face when you try and order anything! I’m most puzzled by the fact she places food orders and drinks orders separately and includes two service charges. She doesn’t even give you the chance to finish your order before completing it on the till. This time i queried it, i was met with a tut, an insistence it was my fault she split the bill in two!? I commented you do even give a chance to place the drinks and you certainly don’t ask the question - again my fault and she even had the audacity to roll her eyes at me and mutter something whilst walking away mid service. When she came back she refused to show me the second bill and refused me to sign. Appalling behaviour and really does nothing for your brand. I went to reception very upset, very close to tears explained what had happened to a very helpful lady - i’m unsure of her name, i’m sure you can work it out there were only two and she was the senior. Absolute credit to not only your hotel but to the wider business! She was very kind and show just the right amount of empathy to be genuine. She reminded me of why i choose this hotel over all others, i even change my travel plans if i’m unable to get a room at this hotel. As a sole female traveller, i have always found this hotel to be welcoming, accommodating and when you walk through the door the people behind reception and the bar make you feel your amongst a community rather than a hotel. I travel every week and that feeling is important. Of course i would stay again, i’m booked in thought July and my experience wouldn’t deter me however to say i am mildly disappointed is an understatement!

The room was OK, but the corridors were very tired and in need of new carpet everywhere. There was a lot of noise, possibly from young adults from a festival. However this was made worse by very thin walls and doors banging that seemed to echo through the hotel at 0100 in the morning. Eventually it all calmed down when someone took matters into their own hands and went and hammered on a door somewhere. All quiet after. Tea and coffee OK. Breakfast excellent!

I've stayed here before on several occasions but this was the 1st time since the refurb. The communal area look brilliant just need to upgrade the rooms (especially the toilet/bathrooms).

The hotel is just off the main road but was lovely and quiet. The staff were really friendly from start to finish. We had a lovely evening meal and the person that brought our meals out was really lovely and made such a fuss of our little boy. Breakfast was great. My only quibble was the bed - we had a family room and our king bed was quite hard and neither of us slept too well. Our son did though! The room itself was lovely and had everything you’d expect. We would consider this hotel again.

I found the hotel very clean, friendly staff and breakfast was a great selection. My only complaint would be the room cleaning started rather early! I was awoken by the maids at 8am! The bed was very comfy and the room was a great size.

The rooms were comfortable & clean, but not much space when the sofa bed is out. Reception staff were very helpful. Cooked breakfast was not great. On our first morning we didn't believe the sausages or hash browns were cooked. Manager told us that sausages were probed & the temp was 88. They may have passed the temp test, but they appeared overcooked on one side & not cooked on the other. Manager agreed that hash browns were not cooked. Staff seemed to be over run, as you had to wait for a few minutes when anything ran out.

Beautiful reception and bar area. Third floor like something from the 80s. Hard beds and uncomfortable pillows bht didn’t actually mind any of that. However have been disappointed with the departure experience and have emailed about this.

Stayed for 1 night - room was clean and well equipped but the thermostat on the wall was of no use whatsoever - the room temp was uncomfortably hot to sleep in even though thermostat was turned right down - beds were far too hard as well
