« Disappointed with the hotel condition. Old and shabby. »

Hotel condition was a total disappointment. So old, shabby, threadbare towels, no amenities like in-room coffee, no Kleenex in the room (I thought that was a given in any hotel). No sign of upgrade or renovation. Location was far but I expected that. No issue because bus stop is just around the corner. Only redeeeming feature of the hotel is the decent breakfast. I would not pick this hotel again for that price.

Dear M., Thank you for visiting and reviewing ibis Utrecht! We are constantly working on improving the hotel as some parts are indeed getting a bit tired and can use an upgrade. Did you ask my colleagues at the front desk for the things you were missing or may have needed? We have quite a few things, like kettles, at the front desk on loan (we keep them there to make sure they are clean and safe..). I would seriously advise you to choose to report things when they occur in the hotel, as that is the best opportunity to solve the issue while you are here! I understand that Ibis and you were not a match this visit. Maybe we can show you we can do better on a future visit, if given the chance.. Hope it did not impact your visit to Utrecht too much! Never paid so much for a room so small. Stuck in the parking lot blocked in by a delivery truck to complete the claustrophobic experience.

Geachte heer J., Dank voor het bezoek aan ibis Utrecht en de feedback daarover. Ik vind het vervelend om te lezen dat jullie verblijf niet paste bij je verwachtingen. Wij proberen duidelijk aan te geven dat ons hotel in basis al functioneel is opgezet en dat dit inderdaad ook niet volgens de nieuwste bouwstandaarden is. Ik moet eerlijk bekennen dat we daarbij geen rekening houden met zaken als blokkerende voertuigen op onze parking, maar zal ook dat zeker meenemen in onze voortdurend lopende plannen ter verbetering van de ervaring. Het is in ieder geval duidelijk dat er in dit geval geen goede match geweest is. Ik hoop in ieder geval dat de ervaringen hier niet teveel invloed hebben gehad op het bezoek aan Utrecht. The service provided by staff was great and really friendly. They couldn’t do enough to help you. However, my bill changed after I had checked out which meant that I couldn’t discuss the changes with the staff given that I had chosen to use the fast checkout (as I didn’t have any questions or objections to the bill I had been sent at that point).

Turning up earlier than indicated (11PM) was no issue. The barman new when to interact with me and later my conversation partner and when to let us continue our chat on our own. Nice to be able to taste some local products.

« Ideal hotel with parking for pleasant walk into Utrecht »

We were taking a one night stop over in Utrecht and needed a hotel with parking. The Ibis was ideal as easily reached, had parking and was a 15 min walk into the centre of Utrecht. The staff were very welcoming and the hotel was clean and modern decoration. The TV had many different nationality TV which was useful.

Good: Area, closed to downtown and main communication ways. Bad: Corridor very noisy (door slamming). Breakfast could propose more of healthy food (fruit salad).

We are already trying to find a way to make the corridors less noisy without having issues with the safety (that is why the doors slam pretty hard, we have to make sure they always close..). Though we don't currently offer fresh fruit salad, I get the idea you may have missed the trolley with crates full of fresh fruits that is just beside the buffet (?). We chose to do it like that and have guests select their own fruits to prevent the fruit salad having the wrong fruits to anybody. Dear sir, Thank you for giving us feedback on your stay here in ibis Utrecht! Clearly a few things did not go as planned and I was sorry to read that. It is sad to read that we try to make an effort in the area of guest service and we seen te do the opposite of what we promise. I will be sure to see what happened and how we can prevent that from happening again in the future to you or other guests. Obviously, the very same can be said about the quality of cleaning of your room. We have a full set of staff that are specifically here to make sure our hotel is clean. The fact that they did not achieve that with your room is unacceptable. Please let me know if there is anything now that I can do to show you my sincere disappointment with your experience. After a 30 Minute nightmare finding ourselves on and off the motorway trying to find the hotel (sat nav failed to give correct instructions to the hotel!), we were warmly welcomed by Chris (I think that was his name - he’s American) on reception. His cheerfulness, helpfulness and our ”welcome drink” soon helped us to wind down. Nothing was too much for him. Parking at the hotel was excellent - once we found it - and the location was good. Room was “cosy” but we were only there for one night so no problem and the bed was very comfortable.

« If I baked a cake to represent my stay in would be semi sweet. »

The hotel was clean but the overall experience just a little bit cold. It would have been nice to have tea and cofffee facilities in the room. The staff were very professional just a little bit aloof. Maybe it’s their experience if the type of people that stay. Would I stay again? Probably, but not definitely. The walk back to the station along the cycle path and canal was lovely.

You should not get less of our attention during times like last week (we had a group in house that demanded quite a bit of planning and execution) and you can be sure we do appreciate you visiting! I guess the kettle would be a good example of what you are writing. We have those available freely at reception to use in your room, but addressing a member of stay who is in processing mode is not something easily done.
