comfortable beds and good room (shower only) good wifi all over hotel and TV has english/French channels and good sport nice small pool area for relax or short laps reception shop, bar restaurant are very good nothing's a problem there - always a pleasant vibe I enjoy the staff there - always helpful and willing really nice combination of comfort, efficiency and facilities

The stay was good, the hotel is one of the good hotels in Douala, maybe you need to review the Wi-Fi connection in room 509 as it was not good (the access point had a problem), as well the evacuation map behind the door should display the correct floor. the food quality was good, better than the previous stay for me. the service was very nice, the bar team are very nice and always smiling. Reception is as expected the top team, housekeeping and engineering team are doing a great job as well. the bellman was very helpful with my luggage.

« Mid range hotel in Douala »

The stay gave no real surprises (see ratings below) - it does what it says on the tin. My only surprise was the bill. My reservation clearly noted that the rooms and charges had been processed in euros on my credit card. It appears that visitors are only charged in local currency upon checking out. While there doesn't appear to be any great difference, this should be made clear when the reservation is processed.

I have spent 3 nights at Ibis Douala during the Cameroon Investment Forum (8.11. - 11.11.). When it comes to the room, it was of above average quality and cleanliness. The restaurant was also very good (compared to Cameroonian standards). However the positive experience was entirely ruined by very rude staff member at the reception. Even though I filled out correct billing details via online check-in form, I have been given an invoice with incorrect details. Our request to change the details was met with very rude attitude of the receptionist. With many years spent on business travel, I have to admit that no one from a hotel staff has ever been so rude to me. No one has ever shouted at me, no one has ever throw pencil at me and no one was so resentful towards me and my request. Meanwhile at the reception, I have also noticed other people demanding the same thing - to correct the billing details on the invoice - having this option is by all means essential for any kind of business travel. No one was actually able to get it done. We have succeed with our request only after spending 40 minutes patiently waiting, correcting the receptionist and taking insults from her. When I requested her name (in order to write this review) she refused to tell me that and so did the other staff at the reception. This was, unfortunately, a prime example of how can 1 individual ruin the overall experience of a guest stay and how 1 individual ruins the collective effort of the staff and the management of a nice hotel.

Check-in went smoothly, the room was comfortable and functional. The staff were friendly and reasonably attentive though were a little lax at times in ensuring customers were attended to. Food was generally okay with the exception of one meal which seemed to be full of the chicken parts that would normally be disposed of and not eaten. I communicated my displeasure but only received a shrug of the shoulders in return so I put it down to the Douala experience. Would I stay there again, very probably as it met my needs.

I am a regular guest. Hotel quality is basic standard. Neat and clean. Internet was sometime unstable. Poor variety of food choice. Same breakfast everyday is extremely boring. No choice at all. Restaurant attendants are not courtious towards guest. One has to go to counter every time to order unless one is with white skin.

An unannounced insecticide treatment led us to abandon our rooms and sit in the restaurant, the restaurant staff asked us to leave the empty restaurant as we were not eating, meanwhile at the restaurant cash register a priest in pink robes was giving spiritual guidance to Ibis restaurant staff who were on their knees...
