« Great customer service in a hotel that needs some TLC »

I always felt that the staff were being very helpful and polite. They were very patient with my lack of French language skills and made me feel very welcome. Unfortunately I feel that the state of decoration and cleanliness of the hotel is not up to the usual standards of Ibis hotels that I have stayed in before. It seemed that everywhere needed a good lick of paint and some maintenance with electrical sockets.

Booked an Ibis hotel in Paris as have stayed in them before and have been satisfied with their simple lines, clean rooms and good linen. This time round was a disappointment and I will never stay at Ibis Styles Paris Republique again. Reception was fine, but the corridors to my room were dark, carpets looked dirty and paint in not good repair - and smelt bad. The room itself smelt as tho it had been doused in air freshner to hide another underlying smell. The room was not the usual well laid out space, but cramped with two small shelves (one completely out of reach) and the bathroom, while clean, had a towel rail above head height (?). The wifi was not working and from the notices on the blackboard downstairs had not been working for some time. I had work to do so had to go to a cafe for wifi. Then when I went to leave my room I went to lock my door and the handle felt loose. I checked - the entire door plate was missing - looked as though it had been ripped out of the door jamb - bare splintered wood. I reported it as I could not lock my door. Reception came and looked and indicated if I turned the key twice it could engage with the door jamb. They said they would get it fixed but it couldn't happen that day. 4 days later it was in exactly the same condition. Not good.

The hotel is getting a little shabby but the welcome certainly was not. The reception, room and breakfast staff were always very friendly and keen to help. As with all Ibis Styles the decor was a little quirky and the breakfast plentiful. Everything worked as it should. The location was perfect for us - Metro and numerous bus routes all very convenient, and an area of Paris which is young and active.

« Expectations not met - stay upset by dark corridors, unpleasant smells and a lock that had been ripped out of the door jamb never to be replaced while I stayed 4 nights. »

I chose Ibis as have stayed before in them and liked them. Normally they are clean and well designed spaces. BUT I did not get this. While reception was pleasant enough I got to my room via dark corridors, and had to navigate unpleasant smells each time - the room itself smelt as tho it had been drenched in air-freshner in a desparate bid to hide some smell. The room was poorly designed, shelves too high to use, and almost no room to move. Possibly most distressing was that the lock had been ripped out of the door jamb (bare torn wood left) and initially I could not lock my door as there was nothing for the lock to grip onto. I reported it and reception came and had a look and indicated if I turned the lock twice it could hold. They promised to get it seen to. It was never replaced during my 4 nights stay. Wifi was also intermittent and as I had to get work done I had to go to a nearby cafe for wifi. On the plus side the airconditioning did work and the rooms are reasonably sound proof and breakfast OK. However I will not stay at this hotel again. Not pleasant.

« Great location, warm welcome »

This easy to find hotel just off the Place Du Republique more was ideal for my stay, near the the Gare Du Nord, about a 20 minute easy walk, metro not far away with access to the city, a quiet room which was small but fine, very clean along with a good breakfast. Check in was easy with a pleasant warm welcome. Nice to have a bottle of water in the room and the climate control.

The hotel is very close to the Metro stations as well as Gare du Nord making it easy to reach the main tourist attractions. A few restaurants and clothing stores are within reach too. I found the hotel itself very comfortable and clean with friendly staff and delicious breakfast. I would definitely return here on my next trip and I warmly recommend this location.

The hotel is conveniently located very close to the place de la République, Paris. The rooms are quite small and so is the bathroom. But it had everything I needed - even an AC. The breakfast was - oh well, French. I can´t help expecting more, but I suppose it was plenty for a French breakfast (I´m German, just to compare traditions)

« Close to Metro, But the room & wash room is very small »

Stayed 4 nights here as my daughter who lived nearby. The plus points are 1) Near metro so convenient base to explore Paris. 2) lot of shops & restaurants around the areas. The big draw back is that the rooms are very small, and outdated. My room on the fifth floor suffered from smelly damp & sewage, and water leaking from ceiling after heavy rain. The night porter on duty on the night of water leaked from ceiling is not very friendly & got very angry for some reasons!! On our last night, They eventually (after our complained) moved us to disable room on ground floor which is much bigger & more comfortable. Anyway, due to all the issues we have had experience with the room, they compensate us with some extra bonus points to my Accor membership card. I have stayed with quite a numbers of hotels in Accor group. So for this hotel I rated 5 out of 10. Sorry Ibis Republik!

« Failed to meet my expectations compared to other ibis Styles hotelsI »

I was put off on my arrival by the gruff, off-hand manner of the only male receptionist on duty. I don't see the point in being a Platinum member Le Club AccorHoteles because it doesn't make a difference to my bookings. The room was very cramped. It was impossible to freely walk between the end of the beds and the wall on which hung the small TV. Accessible information was not provided so it was annoying to discover that breakfast was served in the basement which was not accessible by a lift. The hotel was obviously previously an ibis property because the fixtures and fittings had not been changed. My booking was for 4 nights and the bed linen was not changed during this time. No safety mat was provided in the bath when using the shower. The website did not explain that there were rooms available with just a shower. Apart from being cramped my room was grubby, the desk wobbled and the floor sloped. The electric socket only worked by switching on the room light. I didn't find the room to be all that clean. The breakfast provided was acceptable but there was never sufficient amounts available and I got fed-up constantly asking for more of this and more of that when it should have been replenished automatically. The poor woman in the breakfast room was nearly entirely on her own most of the time. As a Platinum member of the Accor loyalty programme I obviously do stay in Accor properties very frequently. This ibis Styles failed to meet my minimum level of expectation let alone exceed it. I thought the price of the accommodation provided was completely out of line with what was provided and did not give value for money. I had an immediate following reservation with the ibis Styles Gare Sainte Lazare. Due to this terrible experience I cancelled that reservation and made a booking with a completely different hotel group.
