Nice modern reception with small sitting area and restaurant adjacent. Rooms on two floors but there is no lift for upper floor. Our room on the ground floor was small but adequate.

« Another comfortable night »

Very pleasant, as usual, from check in to check out. The reception staff were welcoming and friendly, our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower hot and powerful. Dinner was good, we had the 3 course option and were defeated by the Dame Blanche - it was huge! The hotel is well located and easy to find with ample parking.

The room was clean and warm. The bathroom looked a little tired but was adequate. Dining on our own in the restaurant (some other guests came in as we were leaving) looked like being a little miserable but the attention from the staff on duty and the standard of the food were very good. No complaints at all for them. The breakfast is pretty good too. We will use this hotel again.

When I arrived at the hotel, I noticed that it was only 2 floors and had no elevator. Therefore since I had a lot of luggage, I requested a ground floor room. I was initially allocated room 18, which in my opinion was sub-standard because it was SMALLER than the typical Ibis room which I am accustomed to. I already regard the standard Ibis Rouge room as only suitable for single occupancy, but this particular Ibis, has abnormally small rooms even by Ibis standards. I noticed from the floor plan that rooms 24 - 33 were bigger. However I was told that the larger ground floor rooms were under maintenance and unavailable. Since the receptionist offered to help me with my luggage to the upper floor, I accepted his help. Room 130 was more in line with what I expected from Ibis Rouge. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this Ibis had a restaurant, with a menu that offered a reasonable amount of choice. Of course, the receptionis (doubling as waiter) appeared to be the only employee around, so it was obvious that there was no chef, and that pre-cooked frozen meals from a specialist service company were being micro-waved to order, but this type of food preparation yields perfectly acceptable results, and facilitates the service of meals that would otherwise be impractical for a small establishment with erratic demand. The meal I had was perfectly acceptable. I stayed at this hotel for 4 days from 22/12/18 to 26/12/18. I fully appreciate the fact that hotel employees want time off at holidays. However, if the hotel is open for business during holidays, then staff then management and staff should appreciate that hotel guests still need basic services INCLUDING FOOD !!! Nobody warned me that the hotel restaurant would be closed on 24th and 25th. Knowing that many outside restaurants would either be closed or fully booked, I was expecting to be able to eat in the hotel on the night of 24th. The situation was further aggravated by the fact that the girl on reception, was TOTALLY IGNORANT of what (if any) other outside restaurants might be open. However, I knew that Accor had another hotel (Mercure) in Abbeville, so I went to their restaurant, and got a perfectly good meal. I had planned on doing the same thing on the 25th, only to find that the Mercure had also closed its restaurant on that day. Once again the same ignorant girl was unable to suggest anywhere that I might be able to eat. Her attitude was, "its holidays, everywhere is closed". In fact I was under the impression that Ibis Rouge hotels normally served a snack menue (le Petite Faim) 24/7. However, since she never suggested this, I assumed that this was not available in this particular Ibis, or that if it was, she was too lazy to do the preparation. In the event, I found 2 small restaurants open near Abbeville Station. There was a sushi restaurant and a Turkish Kebad place, that even served wine. This is no thanks to the unhelpful and/or ignorant Ibis receptionist. I get very annoyed by hotels that close their restaurants without warning customers, especially at times, when other nearby restaurants might also be closed or fully booked. If this is unavoidable, then hotel staff ought to have knowledge of what outside restaurants might be available. I also take the view that since Accor has 2 hotels with restaurants in Abbeville (The Mercure and the Ibis), they ought to avoid the situation where both hotels close their restaurants on the same day. This way, they could still give staff time off, whilst minimising customer inconvenience. I also do not understand what costs the Ibis Abbeville saved by closing their restaurant. Since all the food is prepared and frozen externally, and then micro-waved to order. No additional staffing would appear to be necessary to keep the restaurant open. I do NOT recommend this hotel to other clients, as a result of the foregoing, but anybody who chooses to stay here, should request a room whose last 2 digits are x24 or higher.

Hotel as good as last time. Very nice staff, good (disabled) room and great food. Easy parking and not far from both the A16 & A28. Also the bay of the Somme.Good for bird watching and a Steam Railway.Not far from the WW1 battle fields etc.

Stayed overnight whilst travelling to the Channel Tunnel. Our room was very typically IBIS with a pod bathroom. The essentials were in place but nothing more. Sadly we found the person on reception not very helpful.
