« Very welcoming staff and very efficient and well organised. »

Exceeded our expectations. This is a very well run hotel which obviously works hard to make guests feel very welcome and well looked after. We stayed just one night after a 12 hour drive from U.K. The hotel was the perfect antidote to the day’s stress.

« Disappointed by the hotel »

The hotel looks very old and needs a refresh. The receptionist was talking french in an almost unaudible way, which I think is not profesionnal at all. Moreover, the employees were discussing to each other and answering the phone when dealing with us. Is this the service we pay for ???!!! We were ask if we wanted an upgrade to an executive room with a beautiful view on Lyon for an additional 10€... Looking at the hotel, we’ve decided to accept the upgrade. What a desillusion !!! It didn’t worth the 10€ !!! Room very small and the mini bar was exceptionally... Empty ! 2 drinks and a bar of snacks cereals. Fortunately our bed was good. We asked to change from this Hotel to Hotel Conflences but the same receptionist (unaudible) told us it was not possible because we booked with Booking.com and that if we had booked it directly with Accor Hotels it could have been possible ?! We told him we’ve booked it with the App Accor Hotels and after a small hesitation he told us it was not possible... Still don’t understand why if we pay for the difference ?! Overall, quiet disappointed by the service and commodities. Accor really needs to refresh the hotel and train their people for more professionalism.

« Disappointed compared to Novotel Standards »

Disappointed, we wanted to stay in an hotel in Lyon city with a swimming pool... once at the hotel, we were disappointed... online pictures are far away from the reality...hotel is old fashion, does not deserve 4star and based on our experience far below Novotel standards...

« Good base for sightseeing »

We stayed twice within 2 weeks as a family of 4 in one of the suites. For our first short stay, our suite was located on the 8th Floor and had a balcony with a table and 2 chairs plus 2 sun loungers. This balcony could only be accessed via a high (0.5m) ledge on which were large windows which unfortunately opened into the main bedroom, thereby creating an obstacle to anyone still in the room. It would be more convenient to have less of a step and certainly to have sliding door access instead of the window. The main bedroom was very large but the attached living room was narrow. A small bed was placed along 2 opposite sides of the living room (total 2 extra beds). These small beds were ok for our 4 year old but our 8 year old complained about how hard and uncomfortable they were. We therefore wouldn't recommend them for older children or adults. The bathroom was located off the narrow entrance corridor which led to the living room. It had a bath with overhead shower. The drains were very smelly and the plug system meant that there was slow drainage except you chose to remove the plug when using the sink. The wardrobes were also located in this same narrow corridor. For our second short stay, we were placed in a suite on the 5th floor. No balcony :-( but the sleeping arrangements for the children were a whole lot better. They shared a comfortable double sofa bed. We had a large living area with a dining table and 4 chairs as well as a chaise lounge in both the living room and the main bedroom. The large bathroom was located next to the door to the room but the extensive wardrobe/storage space was located in its own separate corridor between the main bedroom and the front of the living area. Thankfully, our drains were not smelly initially but the drainage was a lot worse. We therefore ended up not using the step in shower after the first night and then leaving the plugs out of the sink and bathtub (which also had an overhead shower). Unfortunately, this meant we did end up with a slight whiff of smelly drains by day 3. There were more storage cupboards in the living area. This was indeed a massive size room. Interestingly, our tea and coffee facilities consisted of paper cups rather than the elaborate china set on the 8th Floor. There is a free minibar which is replenished daily. The hotel is very, very clean. Most of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They go out of their way for families with children. Warning - there are free sweets everywhere, even in the rooms! During our first stay, our minibar wasn't replenished on the 3rd day but we didn't complain as we were leaving the next day. During our second stay, our room was not cleaned on our second day. We had been out all day, going straight to dinner on our return so it was 10.30pm before we realised. As housekeeping finishes at 8pm, we had to clean our room ourselves. We got trash receptacles, water and fresh towels from the front desk. The following day, we did complain. The front desk manager was very apologetic and gave us 2000 points (£40 off our next hotel bill) and a round of free drinks from the bar as compensation. The maid in charge of our room also made a point of coming up to apologise profusely. The breakfast is very good, including gluten free options. Lunch/Dinner is the same menu but with quite a few options. I had a different meal every night. Very large portions (even the childrens meals are too large for 1 child). It tastes fantastic so they must have a brilliant chef. One big problem though is how busy they get at mealtimes. Service is EXTREMELY slow. So much so that after experiencing it for 2 dinners on our first stay and 2 on our second stay, we purposely ate out on our last night. The outdoor pool is modest but is separated from the terrace of the restaurant by a gate. There are no sun umbrellas right beside the pool, only sun loungers. If you wanted shade, you would have to go and sit on a chair on the restaurant terrace. It therefore doesn't encourage you to stay by the pool for a long time as the gate is hard to operate. The depth was ok for my 4 year old. There are broad entry steps where she could play and also access the shallow end of the pool which was 0.9m. The pool depth gradually increases and then just past the halfway point, there is a steeper incline until the depth reaches 2m. There are 2 ladders for entering/exiting the pool at the deeper ends. The temperature of the pool was cool and suited to the 35*C heatwave we experienced throughout our stay. Transport is very accessible from the location and therefore access to all Lyon's main attractions is easy. The front desk have maps and will happily talk you through options for whatever sights you want to see and the best routes to access them. They can also call you a taxi if required. Interestingly, the taxi service they used is cheaper than Uber! All in all, for a short stay, the suite was adequate. Being able to step out on the balcony was a definite plus. Tea and coffee making facilities were good, although only 1 type of each teabag was provided (you could ask for more, I guess). We would definitely return.

« Breakfast staff and Benjamin were first class and professional »

Stay was good, however you should train your staff at the reception desk to be more warm in their welcomes and less like robots. At one stage I had requested an iron, when I stopped a member of staff for one he said check at reception but when I answered there was a long queue he said ah well it’s like that. Really unhelpful.

Pro: Fantastic breakfast in our view. Best we had in France. Beds very comfortable. Bathroom very modern and clean if a bit small. Liked having a fridge in the room. Close to highway. Staff was very helpful in getting us through the awkward parking situation, but limited by the physical space in what they could do. Couch in room was already made-up when we arrived and we appreciated that. Air conditioning in room seemed non-functional. Fan blew air, but it never got cold. Con: Awkward to get to with construction. Low current limit in room (10 A) caused 2 of our power adapters to burn out (blown fuse). We were only able to use 1 of 2 CPAP machines which both of us need. Parking was confusing and difficult. There was little signage to direct us. Eventually we called the front desk. There was no way to drop off luggage easily. No signs to tell us to park in alternate parking. No access code to open gate until after you arrive; we got trapped in a full parking garage and had to call. Once we parked the attendant brought a tiny luggage cart. Luggage and attendant did not fit in parking lot elevator nor did luggage fit through narrow doors necessitating several shuttling trips. In the meantime it was raining and the most recommended entrance was up a wet, steep ramp outside the hotel. We chose this hotel six weeks in advance from the US. There was no advance notice about the parking challenges. We strongly recommend adding signage in the parking garage, even in French, to explain the situation for new guests upon arrival.

« Not very confortable »

Room was quite small for an executive room. Dinner was not good. It was a buffet while we were expecting to have the normal menu as we have in general in a Novotel. We were quite dissatisfied this time with Novotel. Although we have visited many Novotel in the past.

« Hotel staff were friendly at reception but caring for room was pretty lax. »

Would like to have had the teabags replenished in room, and kept finding dirty linen that should have been removed but forgotten about. Had trouble with shower but this was fixed quickly once reported to front desk. Atmosphere was good at hotel.

« A pool too far »

Having travelled 14 hrs from England and having booked this hotel because it had a pool. We dreamed of jumping in and relaxing. This was short lived to find the pool was closed due to inclemant weather and wouldn't be open till next day after we checked out. Next issue arose with hotel card key. Having twice gone back to reception as the card key wasn't working in the lift or the door. Told twice is was working. Receptionist decided to try in lift and found it wasn't working and then realised had put in wrong dates. Rectified eventually. Room was clean and fine. Buffet meal was good. Expensive drinks on top though. Car park is 12 euro a day also. That's about it

« Great hotel. Enjoyable stay. »

Everything was great except the bathroom. It only had a hand held shower with nowhere to hang it to have a proper shower. That was really disappointing.

« Service at checkin »

Our overall stay was quite good. Room was a good size with a balcony. Breakfast was good and staff on duty were excellent and very obliging. Staff at checkin desk could be more polite and hospitable. The lady who checked us in was rather cold and like a robot. When I later asked a member of staff for an iron who told me ask at reception. There was a large queue at reception and he walked off. Not helpful at all. Very disappointed on these aspects.

« Great for the kids »

Everything went smooth, the kids were treated as kings. Lady at the reception needs some training on how to talk to clients. I called the hotel to book directly but was told it was full, so I had to book through booking.com and could not use my Accor membership card.

We stayed here one night on our way to the south of France. Good parking facilities, great beds, nice food (buffet). Nice stay in a family room (2+2) on our way to the south of France. I would surely recommend this hotel.

« Short stayover »

We stayed for one night on our way to Spain. Friendly reception showed us promptly where to park our car since the Novotel carapace was full. The room was great w good beds and the swimming pool was a great cool down for the kids Underwhelmed by the buffet dinner and breakfast and the state of sanitation.

« Good personnel in reception, horrific service in bar. »

To start with not the easiest hotel to arrive at by car. Then went down in garage no space in hotel garage. Had to leave car and go up to reception. Super nice girl that handled my check in and advices me where to park my car. After we had left our stuf in our room down to the bar. I have stayed at many hotels in France but never met such a arrogant staff at in your bar. We left the bar without ordering anything. Breakfast was a delight even if I think there was to little to choose from. Staff was friendly and joyful and gave us a good start on our day. Check out was smooth and also friendly staff. If the bar personnel had behaved as the rest of your staff I would gladly have given you a Nine. With a better selection in the breakfast buffet it would have been a 10.

overall a good experience. the restaurant was a disappointment as we were not made aware of the buffet only option when booking ahead. on the arrival which was late the buffet was expensive for what was offered. we did not eat there and had to go out on foot in search of another option. also, the pool closing at 9pm is not convenient after a long day driving. after dinner it would have been nice to have a dip in the pool.
