The room was dirty (bandage on the extremely dirty carpet), there was hair in my shower, splatter of some sort on the door to the bed chamber, the air conditioning barely blew any air at all and what it did blow was only moderately cool so the room was extremely hot and miserable and the mini-fridge did not cool.

From check-in to check-out, my stay at Novotel in Metz was fantastic. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. The room was so beautiful and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. The swimming pool was great to cool off in during the heatwave. And the breakfast in the morning was top notch with so many delicious choices. It was a wonderful place to stay!

The bed was fine. Room size was fine. The refrigerator light worked but it was not cold and didn’t work the carpet was dirty no dresser drawers for my clothes and not enough hangers.

Perfect location for a city trip

We had a nice 2 nights stay (8-10 June). Very good location, but it should be communicated on the hotel website that the parking is in the Yellow level of the Centre Commercial Saint Jacques and you can find at the left side end of the parking the elevator directly to the Reception. Yes, it is an old building, and the passed time has some marks on the building and rooms, but it doesn't mean that it is dirty, etc. Actually the room maids made a good job. The receptionists, both the man and women were very kind and helpful. He helped us to change the room as we prefer the twin setting over the double. So, the room was rather large and the beds and beddings are just perfect. I had a temptation to bring them to home :) .... The heated swimming pool is just next to the restaurant/bar, but when you are there and see that nobody has problem with this, you can go through the tables and go out to the pool. The breakfast was OK, there are many stuff to try, even you can make your fried eggs. Even if there was a high traffic at Sunday morning there were due attention by the staff to ensure that everything is in order and you are not starving... Maybe, they should put some tomato and paprika as well. But, we were satisfied and the breakfast was really good for starting a walking day in the town. We just checked the gym and it is also good for keeping you fit... In brief, we had much better experience than we would expect after reading some rather critical opinions. At first, I thought maybe we were in a different hotel, but not. So, we just can recommend this hotel, since we had a very good experience here. Basically what we need? If you are with car, you need a good parking place - yes, it is here, but it should be better communicated. (and if you are with a high car, take care with the hight restriction). It is close, but not too close to the center. You need a good breakfast, lunch, dinner or bar, yes you have. But also there are many possibilities in the vicinity. You want (probably) to sleep, Yes, we tried to figure out what kind of matelas are these because we are very sensitives to the sleeping quality and found these very good. And also the beddings are good and not just a blanket between two sheets which is a nightmare... Finally, even if we changed the original executive room to a "lower level" one, due to the twin beds, we were very satisfied and happy for this. We saw that the kids were also happy with the "table-football", meaning that families are also can find a good place here.

Room was dirty(even hairs in the shower), carpet seems to have 100 years with a lot of holes, Will not stay here ever again. Location was OK(around 500mts from the cathedral). Reception is on the 2nd floor and parking was ground level

You need to change the carpets in the whole floor, take care of the walls, make sure the bathrooms are clean..it was disgusting . People at the reception desk are not polite at all

I can't figure out why this hotel has such good ratings on Trip Advisor. It makes me wonder about the quality of the other hotels in Metz. I was surprised by (1) the grumpy receptionists (yes - more than one was grumpy) (2) the old and worn out interior - carpets, beds, walls, etc. (3) the extremely poor positioning of the pool (you have to walk through the RESTAURANT - wearing a swimsuit - to access it? Seriously?) (4) the unheated pool water (5) the just barely acceptable quality breakfast. I'd stay here again only if I really had to, (6) the very poor signage for accessing the parking lot upon arrival. This hotel is well below the standard of the other Novotels where I have stayed. My stay at this hotel has caused my image of Novotels as a brand to take a large dive.
