« A Spacious room with a view »

The Hotel is well located at the heart of the old town, The Cathedral and the St-Jacques Shopping center. I enjoyed the renovated lobby. It is spacious, full of colors, and functional with its bar, Web corner and eating area. The room was confortable, clean and had good controlled temperature. It has Wifi, a big Led TV, a mini fridge and a boiler for tea and coffee. The bathroom is big and modern. The only thing I was missing was the black shoe polish.

It's good as usual Location is great as in the city centre, quite easy to get to and park Rooms are alright as in comfy and clean I love the restaurant/bar area. It is trendy and quirky... nice place to relax....just have to wait for waiters some times

« Room was a bit outdated, had a dirty look to it while it was clean »

The overall looks to the rooms and hallways are bad it looks old and outdated. The staff is friendly, however you can do something about their English, the spoken English is very poor.

Location is very convenient but old style room. Bathroom shower really dangerous when it is wett and breakfast clearly overpriced vs current offer.

« Convenient city centre hotel »

The hotel was conveniently located for the city centre, but difficult to find due to a complex road layout and multiple roadworks. Parking (at extra charge) is available in a section of the shopping centre's carpark - park on the yellow level for direct access to the hotel via lift. The hotel room was good and had everything needed for a comfortable stay and the city centre was all within walking distance. Our room overlooked the pool, but was noisy at night with the window open, due to the bars beyond. Breakfast was a buffet with a good range of items, but they kept running out (including bowls and cups on one occasion). It would have been convenient if we had been advised that the Metz marathon was taking place during our weekend stay as the hotel was virtually 'cut off' during the race. We asked the previous afternoon about getting the car out and were told we may be able to leave by car at around 10.30 or 11am. In fact we were able to leave the car park at any time via one particular exit, but we didn't find this out until the morning of the race.

The checkin was fast and okay...Lobby Looks pleasing-rooms are borderline...bath in friend's room was mouldy BUT the worst was the bar and breakfast Service. Saturday night we were at the bar at midnight and others also...the staff was vacuuming and closed the bar...which is early for a Saturday night. The worst was breakfast..probably the worst i have seen...tables not cleaned at all during the 60 minutes we were there..we had to create our own space....i had to ask for forks and knives and napkin and a table mat...and at least 10 tables were not cleaned during our 1 hour there. Then no toast,no Baguette,no Juice and each time i had to ask and others had to do the same. We will never stay here again

« Hotel in the good place, but ... »

Hotel in the good place, but ... Location of the hotel is quiet good, it is situated in center of Metz. You have parking (not free offcourse), fitness and outdoor swiming pool. I used fitness facility, but not swimming pool (it was cold outside). 1 machine in fitness room was out of order, but it was not marked! But the worst thing was breakfast. It was a lot of people there and staff was not able to refill all food and clean the tables. My opinion, it was enough staff, but they work very slow! All people ask them every few minute to bring something, because they work very slow. I spent around 45 minutes there, and at the end of my visit they still have a lot of empty food plates!!! I was in this hotell last year and it was the same problem with breakfast!!!

« Staff Member Creeping Into My Room Whilst Sleeping »

I've stayed twice at the Novotel in Metz France. Second time, a staff member accessed my room early hours in the morning whilst me and my friend were sleeping. A log shown by the manager showed this staff member also accessed the room a few hours before while we were out. The manager is protecting the hotel and his reputation and simply defended the staff and his story that apparently a drunk person tried to enter our room twice and he accidentally opened the wrong room for him twice as the drunk person apparently did not know where his room was. I have never been so traumatized in my life. The behaviour of the person who was trying to creep into our room 5am in the morning was not the behaviour of a drink man. Furthermore, our clothes were hanging before the second door which showed this room belonged to women. The staff accessing the room for this apparent drunk man was only revealed by the manager to us once we explained the safety lock was on while we were sleeping. At which point only a staff card can open the door. The incident was not handled well. No security or staff member came to our room to check if we were okay once we informed them someone was trying to creep into our room and ran when they realised we awake and there were two people as on the system only one person was checked in. The manager Pascal had been informed nor did he try to call us in the morning to check if we are okay nor did he seem fussed about doing a proper investigation but instead insisting he could offer us a night at another hotel. For this he decided to offer a shameful one night refund and upgrade to an exec suite ... where two vulnerable women were sleeping and his staff member Habil was trying to come into our room for who knows what. A log showed this was the second time this person accessed my room and this was only a 24 hour log so I dread to think that he may have accessed my room previously as well? I am grateful my friend was with me that night but appalled at the lack of sensitivity and understanding from the manager and appalled that something like this could happen at a Novotel hotel? Serious security breach and an investigation is taking place via expedia. However despite me logging a complaint via Accor, I've had nobody call me back to discuss or give me an update as to what's going on, if anything. I have proof with pictures and a voice recording with the manager himself confirming all these details. We had to call the police and police had also advised that something didn't seem right from the story. Stories seemed to have changed based on what the staff member told the police and what the manager was claiming however I am not sure if Pascal has done right by reporting whatever really happened to the police and his staff so the police can carry out an investigation. We deserve the truth and justice for what happened or potentially could have happened. As an independent woman, I am now afraid to travel alone and certainly will never be booking with Novotel again or feel safe in your hotel. Thinking that a 4 or 5 star hotel especially such a well known hotel like Novotel would keep you safe?

« Perfect for all our needs »

We are very happy staying at the Novotel Metz. Our only grumble is the widely variable rates, and we would stay there more often if the room rates were consistent throughout the year. eg. The same room was three times more expensive 2 weeks later !!! The location, the quality of all the facilities, and being " Dog Friendly" make this Hotel our favourite in Metz.
