« A wonderful stay at Sofitel Hotel in Bogota »

Wonderful experience! The staff is superb! They make you feel part of a family. They address you by your name (this is quite uncommon in regular hotels) and make any effort to sarisfy your needs. From the front desk to the restaurant, to the bar, to the bellman, the staff did an extraordinary work to make our stay unforgettable. All facilities, including the gym, were extraordinary. Breakfast was extraordinary with a great sekection of foods and a committed servers. I strongly recommend this hotel! The only thing is that drinks, and licor in general, were a bit too pricy. Perhaps the hotel management should consider adjusting the prices to be more competitive with near boring businesses located around the hotel

« It would have been an extremely satisfying experience if only I had running water on Saturday night. »

From the staff to the room, mostly everything was exceptional. I truly felt comfortable and at home - and this was an asset since I was on a work trip where I worked long hours. On the same token, after working 14+ hours on Saturday, June 30, I returned to my room tired and needing to refresh. Unfortunately, I was unable to refresh and properly cleanse, as there was no water in my room. I understand that repairs were being done but this is unacceptable of a hotel of this caliber. I was unable to even wash my hands. All the good that had been achieved by your staff was shadowed and marred by the absence of water on Saturday evening / Sunday morning. Again, I understand there needing repairs to be done, but this is unacceptable. I'm sorry but this is the reason why I gave the hotel a 4 rating.

« Fancy place with quirks »

I love the breakfast staff. It's a fancy place. However. One night my alarm went off at 3am, despite the fact that I had unplugged it. Somebody must have plugged it back in and activated the alarm. Weird. Even weirder, one night I came back to my room and discovered a handwritten note that said "thank you for cleaning up after me, I love this place" and I did not know who left it. I was disturbed.

Check-in process too long even though front desk told me to wait 30 minutes, it took two hours. As a USA citizen and any foreigner included, I was not supposed to paid IVA at check-out but they insisted. The only hotel in Colombia during my vacation trip who did it. Besides that, food, location and room service, excellent. Hotel atmosphere superb.

A series of annoying events I am sorry to say spoiled our stay. I am a Platinum member of Accor fidelity program but was not offered a complementary upgrade upon arrival. The fresh fruit bowl was a welcome addition to our room and much appreciated, but it disappeared the next day though we had barely touched it. Our room was OK I guess, but the bed was tired and a little uncomfortable, certainly not what I have found in other hotels of the chain. Water is provided in the room, but one of the bottles we found had already been opened. A nice touch would have been the chocolates left each day, except we had an empty box the first night and nothing for the remainder of the stay. We ate in the restaurant one evening and I had the seafood risotto. I had to send it back as the sea food was not fresh (the mussels remained obstinately closed, never a good sign). The restaurant could not provide another and there was very restricted choices left, so had to console myself with an appetiser. Not a lot of sympathy from the staff! We also had breakfast, and my wife asked three times for a grapefruit juice, which never showed up... Fortunately, this hotel is located in an upscale animated area with many eating and drinking holes, so we did not starve.

Everybody goes the extra mile for you, from door openers, bellboys, reception (my personal favourite: Juan Manuel), room cleaners, service at Basilic restaurant.... deducted one point for lack of replenishment of Nespresso capsules in room and slow coffee service over breakfast.
