« Hotel with good facilities but with poor service culture »

When we arrived at the hotel on Sunday, 28 October 2018, at 7.30 pm at after a long drive from Brussels, the welcome at the reception was distant and indifferent. As holder of the Accor Gold Card, we received a voucher for a welcome drink at the bar for one person only although as longstanding clients of the Accor hotels, we always have received a welcome drink voucher for two persons. This is the first time this ever happened to us. In all hotels from the Accor group where we had stayed before as a couple in a double room in France, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, we have always received a voucher for two drinks. Even worse was the treatment received from the only waiter at that time at the bar which was absolutely lamentable; he refused to show up and once urged to serve us he treated us in a rude and impolite manner. So this was quite a new experience for us and we definitely had the feeling that on that Sunday evening there was not a minimum of quality control in the hotel. We would like to underline that we are longstanding clients of the Accor group and have always expressed our satisfaction with the services delivered. This is for us the first time that we have to express our strong dissatisfaction.

The room was very poor for a 4 star rating. This rating must be questioned. 1) Having splattered mosquitos on the ways and curtains. 2) Poor pillow quality. 3) Poor and unclean bathroom floor with rusty nails.

We had a short and enjoyable stay. On 1st contact with the receiption , they were excellent and couldn’t do enough, to help us along.The food was reasonably good , and keenly priced . The room itself left a lot to be desired , it definitely wants a refurb. The large bed was very comfortable, but the decor is “ very 1980s “ and well used, it looked as though it was recently bought from a “second hand shop”.Having said that it had the basics of what we wanted on this short 5 day stay.

Good experience overall with hotel facilities and staff were very helpful. However, stay ended on a negative note as the taxi which we booked through your hotel staff for Saturday morning 15th September for 07.15 pick up to take us to airport charged us €49.50, when the normal daytime fare as advised on-line is approx €25-€28. It would be helpful if Mercure would have an agreed rate for taxis serving the hotel to destinations such as airport.

I have stayed in this hotel before, and i like it. the staff are friendly and helpful. Complaints the carpet in the corridor to the rooms were heavily stained and a tea tray was left in an access doorway all weekend. No bar staff working on a Saturday night at 10 pm. The receptionist helped at a coffee from the breakfast area but I had to make and pay for a gin 7 tonic for my wife and pour my own cognac out despite the receptionist being french and cognac was only 45 minutes drive away.

« Holiday in France. »

After a long drive from the UK, the hotel had no knowledge of our booking from 4 months ago. They gave us a double room when we had booked a privileged room with a double bed and a double sofa bed. They said the hotel was full and we had to have the double room. After not accepting the excuse, and proving the booking with paperwork we were given our room. We were given a free drink from the bar to apologise for the mix up with our booking.

The room and the pool were excellent - as was the breakfast but the restaurant closed just on the days you needed it and it was very difficult to find anywhere else to eat reasonable food nearby. Staff also had little idea about the drinks they were serving and reception staff were unable to help us with information on which beaches to visit etc.

Poor value for money - very uncomfortable bed, felt like plastic cover under bed sheet ..my partner and myself did not sleep! Room door looked like it had been broken into, it was damaged around the lock, whole in the wood. Meant to be a restaurant, when we arrived watched screen food looked great told restaurant closed over weekend. We on returning from a neighbouring restaurant wanted a night cap, were refused a drink at bar because closing nearly 10pm.......and had to argue as guest we should be able to buy one and got one....minutes later porter comes and serves other guests.

A nice hotel in a good location with good facilities. The main issue was at breakfast. The poor staff are over-run, not their fault but only on one day did their seem to be enough staff to cope with the volume. The staff also seemed to have a variety of jobs as opposed to allocated jobs meaning a number of key areas were neglected and these varied from day to day. One day the greeting or waiting to be seated would be dreadful, the next day it could be the whole buffet was not topped up or the next it could be no clear tables to sit at.
