I was upgraded to Family Room no 821 due to my gold member. Check in was so slow, there’s only 1 man to handle all 4 people at the reception. I kindly asked him to get me a decent room and asked if the room was fully renovated. I asked for these because I know Novotel Solo is quite an old one. He said all is good. Once I’ve got in the room, everything is disastrous. One of the ceiling light was dead, hand shower was all grossly stained which made the water couldn’t flow properly. We even couldn’t use the head shower because instead of pouring down, it sprayed up onto the ceiling. The hairdryer even got a plastic tape around it, which made me couldn’t turn it off unless I clicked on the switch. And the worst of it all, was the soundproof. We can hear EVERYTHING from inside the room - the noise from the bar downstairs, the cleaning equipment and the constant noise that stays all day all night (I’m not sure what it is). I didn’t get a late check out too. I know it’s based on availability, but I’ve never been rejected for this simple matter before at all my stays with Accor around the world! Surely they can spare me a few more hours on a Wednesday, right?? Overall, my stay was HORRIBLE! They did fixed the shower and light problems, but the constant noise is disturbing. I’ve stayed in Ibis next door before and I think their maintenance is way better than Novotel. During my years of membership with Accor, I’ve never taken a survey before, let alone to write a complaint or review even I was disappointed with the hotel, but this time is too HORRIBLE to ignore. I won’t be back for sure and will strongly advise my friends and family to avoid this hotel unless you’ve done some serious renovation- not just a bed background change. Wake up, Novotel!

we stayed in a family room. we have good impression about the room though we expected more toilet amenities (comb and tooth paste). we like the breakfast, it was very complete breakfast. what we like the most is the swimming pools..both pools. the staff also very friendly.

We found the hotel has a good location. Very close to Batik museum and since we came to Solo for batik shopping we think the location is definitely a plus point. We tried to get upgraded using Accor member but the room was not available so we settled with our room. We got late check out until 2pm, which was perfect for our flight schedule at 4pm. The room and bed are comfortable. We also got welcome drink, which we had together with lunch at the restaurant. The service at the restaurant was sooo good. The staffs were very friendly and polite. Their specialty, i.e. ayam andrawina, tasted good as well. The only input I have is the room is a bit old. I think it needs refurbishment. Will definitely come back to try their spa service!

Overall is good. My room was allowed to smoke but there was no astray. I hv tried to call the receptiomist but nobody picked up the phone. I went down to lobby and talked directly to one of the reception, he said will ask room boy to bring the astray but, till my day cheked out it was not happened

The first thing that made the stay good was the staff, especially the front desk staff upon check-in. I forgot his name. And all the other staff as well, all were very polite and nice and helpful. There were a lot of trainees, and even the trainees were good. The hotel itself is quite old. And the furnitures and the fixtures reflect that. I believe a revamp/upgrade is badly needed, especially in the bathroom. We like the two shower heads; don't change this option, and the shower for the toilet. But the shower heads were old and the flow of water was not perfect anymore. Also, the rooms have wear and tear marks, and some dust bunnies under the door or in remote places. Creaky wardrobe. To summarize: The good: the people. The staff. The service. The location. The two showers and toilet shower. The room is of a good size. The not-so-good: the meals. My mother commented that the burger patty on her room-service burger were of a 'generic' frozen one, not of fresh ground meat. A four-star hotel is expected to have its own patty. The breakfast. Breakftast spread was somehow feel less that it used to be. Less choices. Less taste. I feel that it does not quite up to 'Novotel' standard. The chemical in the pool was very strong.

mostly almost good experience. warmly staff. check-in/out process so fast. i stayed in room 605, but seems near machine room, so noise and it is bother me to get a fall sleep. bathroom so old style, perhaps consider for renovation in the future.

Room was clean although bathroom is starting to look worn out. Front desk staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. Aji is especially nice and helpful when I asked for recommendations for dining. It would be nice if gym is open 24/7 as 6am is too late for business people.
