Our welcome was very charming, we had a room with terrace, overlooking the harbor. Amazing. On the rooftop terrace we enjoyed the sunset with great cocktails and as well met the very gentlemen-like GM, M. Paul Barthe. Thank you, Mr. Barthe and team for an excellent and memorable stay! Pretty average hotel that doesn’t justify the cost. The hotel looks tired and needs a revamp. Breakfast service is terrible. Staff are hard to find and quite grumpy. We did get offered an omelette on our last morning. Would have been nice to have been offered that all mornings.

Renovation Badly needed

The service was solid and representative of a Sofitel and five-star establishment., and the view is incredible. The hard product--the hotel itself--was not good. The entire property is badly in need of updates. Even in our balcony suite, the bathroom was small and materials were not high-end. Plastic shower. No marble. Cheap tiles. The room was musty and common without any local style.

The hotel itself is wonderful- but starting early morning there was construction work just outside my window. Not simply banging nails , but jackhammering and sawing concrete. Very very loud. It’s beyond belief that I was never told about this work when I checked in. For a 5 star hotel at this price .... simply unacceptable.

Our arrival was made easy with our bags and car managed by very able staff. Our Patinum card afforded us an upgrade to a room with a view of the boat harbour and expansive view of the city. Unfortunately we we unable to dine in the upper floor restaurant but ate very satisfactorily on the lower terrace restaurant which again had ample views. We had what has become an expected Sofitel breakfast in the morning before we need to depart for our flight from Marseille. Again the Sofitel Staff made our departure a breeze with our bags and car delivered to the from door hassle free. Next time in Marseille we will look forward to a longer stay so as to better experience the sites around this Harbour vicinity.

Overnight stay was memorable because of the great lunch in the bistro and a delightful meal in the 7th floor restaurant. Car parking was no problem with the concierge handling the parking.

After saying we would have a courtyard view on a superior double both rooms looked over roofs! Was changed to a room with partial view it had the smell of the spa!!
