Good location within easy walking distance of the marina and the beaches/restaurants on the other side of the hill. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our whole stay and the very pleasant and professional girl who greeted us on arrival (can’t remember her name unfortunately) did a great job of upselling by offering us a room upgrade which we took advantage of and we’re glad we did as the room was really nice with a great view of the marina. Breakfast was great and the dog was permitted into the restaurant which was a bonus for us. We were also offered complimentary use of some dog bowls which was a nice touch. We had a drink in the bar on the top floor one night which was a lovely setting although the drinks were quite expensive but then we find the drinks expensive in most hotels in France, probably largely because of the poor exchange rate at the moment, which of course isn’t the fault of the hotel.

From the beginning with Nordine and Djamila it was fantastic. They help me to fix an issue that I had right away. I had a lunch at the restaurant on the top, it was ok but I was a bit disappointed by the service of our waiter.

« Last minute stay to celebrate my wife's birthday »

Hotel staff was so kind and helpful even without reservation and before getting to the hotel. I was calling from the highway traveling from Bordeaux to Marseilles and wanted to stay at this hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday given Sofitel's view of the old harbor. This was a last minute decision and the hotel staff was so great that we ended up staying 2 days more.

Good judgements sorted out a couple of issues at the start, but thereafter all well Great terrace bar Parking a bit naff in that it is shared with the Novotel next door, as is the pool, which begs the question, why not stay there and use the Sofitel amenities?? Simple answer - try the pillows!! Try the mattress!!

« Great location, poor service »

The hotel is in a fantastic location in the old port, and the views from the rooftop bar and restaurant are stunning. Our room had some good elements - a refurbished bathroom, a really comfy bed and a great terrace. However, the rest of the room needed some attention (cables hanging from the tv, a sofa that was in desperate need of reupholstering etc...) which is unusual for a 5* Hotel. However, the low rating I’ve guven in this review relates to the service we received. The staff on the front desk were good, the ones in the bar exceptional but those in the breakfast room were poor. On the Saturday things were really chaotic - no plates or forks were available when we arrived and food seemed to be replenished in a very erratic way. Things were worse on Sunday when, because of the weather, there weren’t enough seats for everyone when we arrived at about 10.10. The person on the front desk was clearly flustered and was taking down peoples’ room numbers and advising that the wait for a table would be about 15 - 20 minutes. We therefore decided to go back to our room and read on the terrace for the duration. We returned to the Breakfast Room at approximately 10.30 only for the same member of staff to start shouting at us. Apparently we should’ve waited (in the already cramped lobby area) and not gone back to our room as she had now given our table away. I have never been spoken to in this manner in a 1* hotel never mind one that claims to be 5*. The way in which the Breakfast Room is managed needs to be looked at urgently and the member of staff in question should be retrained as soon as possible. I understand that some guests may have been less than courteous to her, but she spoilt our entire stay and we would seriously question whether we would visit again because of her attitude.
