Great venue but the last few trips they have given me room overlooking Lake street. I like to sleep with the windows open....this equals street noise. I am a regular.....give me a room overlooking the quiet side... Abbot street. Please don't tell me the view overlooking the pool is special, because really it's not!!. By the way, the new rooms are better than the old rooms, but I think the local tradies are ripping you off. Poor fall on the new showers, paint splatter on fixtures, walls poorly sanded before new paint applied....Why are you signing this off . The upside is the staff at check in and the bar etc..well done!!

Booked 1 room for 2 nights with my Son. The aircon was not working well & woke up couple of times sweating. ( was 32 degree on that day) The next day I dialled receptionist on duty to ask for help if she can send someone to check our aircon. Need to call her 2x as almost an hour past, no one bothered to check. When maintenance guy arrived, he simple said that there was nothing wrong with aircon and he cannot do anything anymore about it. Sorry it is what it is! Btw I changed new battery of the remote control! What??? You serious??? Bad experienced & service for a 4.5 star hotel!

ROOM HAD A BAD ODOUR. AIR-CONDITIONER DIDN'T WORK PROPERLY, BAR FRIG OF LOW QUALITY THAT DIDN'T COOL DRINKS. WAS SHIFTED TO ANOTHER ACCORHOTEL AS AIR-CONDITIONER DIDN'T WORK (11.30 PM) THEN HAD TO WALK BACK TO HOTEL FOR BREAKFAST IN HEAT. WORKSITE NEXT TO ROOM. ONE OF MY CHILDREN ENDED UP WITH HEAT STRESS.

My check in and check out was seamless. My room was comfortable but I noticed it was a little tired and the first bed I sat on made a big creak when I sat on it so I slept in the other bed next to the window. The staff were friendly. I was waiting at the reception at one point to borrow a pen and in the end had to ask if I could just borrow a pen. The staff member working did apologise to me later as she didn't realise I was waiting for her to acknowledge me. I dined in the restaurant and found the staff to be very nice and the food was good too. I had the steak special and would have liked some pepper sauce but had to choose another.

All good, very helpful staff. Only issue was waiting for the check in desk there was a tour group checking in which resulted in a 20min + wait to be served. I felt there should have been a special check in desk for tour groups, there was 1 other desk person, but she was caught up with an issue she was dealing with that was time consuming which compounded the waiting time.

Staff were very friendly and helpful but the environment including my room was very tired-looking with scuffed, torn carpet, carpet with duck tape across it, scuffed paint on walls. My room was clean but smelt musty, The split system airconditioner did not operate at acceptable capacity, was noisy and didn't adequately cool the room. The fittings and décor of the room were dated and worn. The "step" out of my room was not marked - an older customer would probably have fallen as I tripped as I stepped out of my room. The pillows were old and uncomfortable. It's a lovely and convenient location however the hotel's appearance did not live up to expectations.

Disappointed. The cane wicker chair in the room was not comfortable for relaxed reading. Shower in the bath not ideal as a relatively older person, I slipped. While there was a handrail it was low and when bending my foot slipped in the bath. No rubber mat! On my two earlier visits to Cairns in the past 6 months, the rooms at Hilton Doubletree and then Rydges were of a higher standard, better furnished and safer showers. I will be visiting Cairns again next week but NOT staying in an Accor hotel

Loved everything about the hotel except the check in. We were told to come back at 2 pm after completing the necessary forms. When we returned there was only one guy at the checkin counter and a huge group of Japanese people being checked in. We waited for at least 45 minutes if not more before the guy called out another staff member to assist us and the long line of other people waiting behind us who were not very impressed and neither were we. Then they tried to get us to redo forms we had already completed and didn’t know where our luggage had been stored which took more time. There should be at least 2 people at the desk especially when large groups are being checked in.

When we first arrived and checked in we were given a standard room that not only smelt of mould but had a mouldy chair in the room. As I am pregnant this was not acceptable for anyone of my family's health. When I approached reception they were very accommodating and spoke with the manager who gave us one of the new updated rooms. The new rooms are great but they are not so great when the tradesman are working on the floor and room below trying to sand and uplift the existing tiles. The noise was not bearable in the day for my toddlers afternoon sleep and we ended up having to leave the room a few times. We then decided we wanted to return for another few days a few days later where we were quoted and given prices that was specifically for the new rooms. I booked that room before we checked out. Whilst away I needed to amend the booking by one night which was not a problem. When the invoice was emailed through the price had increased by $30 for a Sunday night. I emailed bookings back and after a few emails back and fourth and providing the written prices I had by chance kept the booking price was amended and a new invoice was issued. When we arrived for our second visit and went to check in a standard room was issued which was not what we booked and requested. The male at reception stated that there were no new rooms left and also stated there was quite a price difference in the price for a new room. I again explained our story and luckily still had the quoted prices. He spoke with the manager who stated to give us a new room at the price we were invoiced for. The guy at reception then went on to state we could have discounted breakfast which is when I stated the $1 breakfast should be included which he stated it was not. Thankfully I had my invoice which had it listed and he added it to our booking. We were advised the room was not ready but they would call once house keeping had completed the room. By 2:15pm we had not recieved a call but decided to return to the hotel anyway where I was informed the room was now ready. Whilst the manager was accommodating for each time it was all very time consuming, the renovation noise was not disclosed when given a new room and during the day you could not get a basement carpark which you paid $7 per day for because all the tradesman were parking there. The renovations to the hotel will be great but maybe they need to close a block at a time to get them completed without disturbing paying guests.

Our refurbished room type being finished are our Deluxe rooms which are between $50-$120 more than our standard rooms. It is great our assistant manager could work out a solution for you however this shouldn't have taken the time it did. The hotel room itself was nice but the service that followed was terrible. It took an hour and a half to check in due to wrong room assignement. We even confirmed before arriving at the hotel if everything was in order to avoid this type of delay and yet it still happened. Arriving at seperate times my parents were to be able to check into their room which should have had 2 double beds and then myself and partner later on in a king room that we were told would be only a few doors down from them. They were given a room with a double and single. And then told we would be in complete different towers due to this confusion on your part. My room was overlooking the car park so that was a great letdown of an upgrade I received for being an Accor member. Breakfast was terrible, pastries were stale, eggs were like water and my poached eggs took the same amount of time to cook that it took my whole family to eat. Bar staff were miserable and terribly rude. Upon checkout we were then told to pay for parking which was given to us complimentary (this was probably the least you could have done) because of the lack of service to begin with. This was our first use of our Accor benefits card and I can already see it was a waste of money.

Some areas of the hotel are in need of repair e.g. some pavers in high traffic areas are loose. There was a lot of noise from nearby construction and there was some construction happening inside the hotel but the staff and construction workers were accommodating and helpful. The room was cleaned well each day but there was a distinct smell of dampness which may have been attributed to recent rain. There were good food choices for breakfast and my dietary requirements were accommodated well during my stay. Dining staff were extremely helpful particularly Imelda who worked hard to accommodate my requests and enquiries.
