« Head housekeeper brilliant but air conditioning still faulty despite previously reporting it as an issue. »

Generally good but spoilt by the fact that the air conditioning fan switched on (after we had ensured the system was off in our room) at 1.10am, 4.30am & 7.10am thereby disturbing our sleep. We managed to switch it off again (or the overall system shut down) on each occasion but it meant that our sleep was disturbed x 3! We have had the same problem previously & have raised it before but no change! Difficult to believe that so much money was spent on the good upgrade of the rooms etc but the old air conditioning/heating system still has faults & a fan that is extremely noisy. We were really pleased with the assistance the head housekeeper gave us on our arrival to ensure our room criteria were met & we would like to give her a special thank you.

« Overbooked, offhand approach to complaint and sleepless night on worst bed ever »

I booked the exec double that was advertised on the app. Arrived to find that it was downgraded to ordinary Twin. When I said I would complain it was explained it wouldn't make any difference as it would just go to the guy who was checking me in, presume it was duty general manager. He said it happens regularly and just a fact, the rooms are regularly double booked with platinum members taking the rooms on a Sunday for the week, stuff less regular travellers basically. It felt a bit "yeah" "so what, get over it, it's a fact of life" "mneah". Why offer rooms on the app that are nit available? Is this to get people in? If so then I believe trades descriptions might have something to say about it. The receptionist offered a ground floor room but at such a busy junction they don't routinely put single female travellers on the ground floor, so had no confidence in that option. Offered to put the singles together in the morning when "HK" were back in. Went up beds being zip link feel smaller than ordinary singles, I personally hate them anyway which is why I always book diyble or king. Sat on one that was like a rock. I found an alternative hotel for the next two nights stay so went back down and cancelled the next two nights. Stayed one night, no sleep, bed so hard I've still got a sore hip and bad back. I've ended up paying more than I'd budgeted and lost points for two nights. Worst Novotel ever. It was tired, grubby and resembled a bad Ibbis in need of total upgrade and staff morale injection. Needless to say its one on my do not revisit list.

Lovely room. The beds are huge and very comfortable. I especially love the large walk in shower. The staff are friendly and helpful. We often stay when visiting family and it's great we can now bring our new dog.

We booked to stay here using a gift card experience and seemed to pay over the odds for what you can pay through other booking methods, upon arrival we checked in and spoke with the man at reception regarding going into the city for something to eat, we put our stuff in our room then headed out, once in the car ready to leave discover you need a code to exit the barrier (you would have thought this info would be provided upon check in especially as we had discussed leaving the complex) we returned later to our room and discovered that the bath Mat that they recommended to be used was dirty and contained what looked like shaved pubic hair throughout, not wanting to complain at the time we carried on without this. The breakfast was somewhat mediocre, an assortment of different breakfast options however the cooked breakfast option seemed of poor quality the sausages had so much fat and gristle, dried whole mushrooms were just awful and the “scrambled egg” was more like a bowl of rubber. We stayed to have a memorable experience and in a way we will remember this but not for the reasons we expected, would not stay here again

Very convenient for the M1 and Derby\Nottingham. Unfussy and intelligent reception. Good value, helpful service and heavily renovated though far a typical Novotel in atmosphere. Have used several times and always felt welcome.

« Another lovely stay in a great hotel »

We choose to stay at this hotel when visiting Nottingham. Indeed the ability to stay at this hotel sometimes influences our choice of concert venue (as it did in this instance). We arrived to find the hotel was extremely busy but that didn’t impact on our welcome from reception staff. We had a great room, encountered nothing but discrete politeness throughout our stay, and enjoyed a great breakfast before we left. Proximity of the hotel to both arterial routes and the Nottingham tram network park and ride gives this hotel an additional ‘edge’

« Very close to the motorway, but... »

... still convenient and quiet. Huge free parking lot, reasonable price, clean rooms, good breakfast. Nice staff. Live football. You should consider a room opposite to the motorway. Booking process online was simple and fast.

We chose the hotel based on the convenience of the location to where we were visiting friends in Nottingham. Although close to the M1, there was no noise from the motorway. The room was comfortable and clean and we had a great night's sleep.

« Bad Dinner Experience »

This is the first time we had dinner here in October. When my son ordered Pizza from the main menu, he was told there is no pizza as the oven is not working. So he had to choose another option. A while later, we see the table next to ours, have a pizza arrive on their table! Not happy, we question why we were told we couldn't have pizza. Apparently, the table next to ours had ordered for their child from the child's menu! But my son is a child too I said. Why were we not told to order from the child's menu then he could have pizza? Next thing we know, my son is able to have pizza from the child's menu. And we were told the oven was not working? Absolutely ridiculious. The menu is also very limited on vegetarian options and the chef is not willing to make you something else or adapt his dishes.

The rooms were good as usual, the staff helpful and overall our stay was what we wanted. The one area which had gone down hill since our last visit was the food at dinner time where the menu has become bland and limited.

« Nice hotel but some improvements needed »

The rooms and the decor of the hotel were good, as expected, however some small details let the hotel down. There were lots of scuff marks on the walls of my room and also a questionable stain on the duvet. This was replaced promptly once raised with hotel staff. The service at my evening meal was good and staff were friendly however it was clear they were understaffed with staff literally running around the restaurant.

Staff were extremely accommodating, food pretty good, room very good. Just a bit miffed the dog charge of £12 pn was in my view a little excessive. At £36 for the three nights, it took a little off the edge of the stay. Had we not been attending a reunion with friends, this charge could have been a deal breaker. As it was the stay was great. Thanks to all involved.

« Disappointing start »

Upon arrival, a male member of staff was with a trainee female behind reception (approx. 9pm). The trainee was wonderfully polite and helpful, however the person training her came across and cold and rude. Normally when I stay in this hotel I receive a drinks voucher due to my accor membership. I questioned this as I did not receive one, and the trainee checked with the male member of staff. He point blank said no, and questioned whether I was even a member, and asked to see my membership card. I told him that I had never been provided a card, and that the membership details are presented to me when I book - this has been the case for this hotel before, and also the one I have stayed at, at Wetherby. He was so rude and dismissive, and clearly did not believe I was a member. This was a rude start to my stay, but despite that everything else was fine.
