« On arrival Check in was a bit shaky how ever this improved as my stay went on ending with your wonderful and happy shuttle bus driver. »

On arrival I was a disappointed on check in when the receptionist ( male) had head down working, luckily another young man smiled and said hello. When he finished what he was doing and looked up he then attended me he informed me my overnight stay including breakfast, which i booked myself online told me NO breakfast was not included, no smiles or let me check simply "NO". Knowing I had confirmation of this I replied " yes" I booked this myself and gave approx prices and options I was given and still he said no. I offered to get out my laptop and show him which he said ok. IN the meantime he must have rung reservations and double checked and given a few minutes told me "yes" its included and gave me the key card then took another phone call. I waited to ask where I went to find the room which I was surprised with that he had not waited to take a phone call or at the least asked them to wait a moment while he finished checking me in. I asked for my passport back, not sure why he had put in under the counter , again would have been good to be told if he had wanted to keep it and i left. I had my Egyptian friends who had driven me from Giza and was very upset this happened in front of them, I visit every year and this was a first for me to use a hotel to stay in because I was flying out early and did not want to risk traffic. I was grateful for another staff member who came over when my friend was trying to lift my bag up to give to me and then helped me to my room. On arrival another surprise when I found I could not charge my laptop or phone in the room , I rang reception and was told to told take them to the Bell Caption and he will do this for you. Never have I had this happen in a hotel before but maybe this is in all Egyptian hotels, I will check this out for next time, however never would I leave my laptop and phone with anyone I did not know. I phoned my friend and was told me to go down again to reception and ask again and yes now I was told for a deposit of 20LE I could get an adapter which I had no option so I did this. Jumping forward to breakfast in the morning I went down to eat and was again informed NO breakfast is not included for you !!!!! so back I go to reception and get told "yes" it is so back I go to ask them to confirm again please. However from after check in on wards I have to congratulate the wonderful staff who made my stay after a bad start become a nice stay. I used reception 2 more times and housekeeping and the staff who attended me were helpful and friendly with smiles which helped me relax a little. Breakfast ,once I sorted out payment details again I had a beautiful breakfast and departed, compliments please to your shuttle bus driver who was nice, funny, friendly and gave a wonderful memory of my stay at Novotel. I did not take the young male reception name but please I suggest to inform him that a guest arriving for the first time to check in that what makes all the difference is the welcome smile of this person. Also if the booking is incorrect before telling the guest a few NO NO NO please ask the guest to wait and they will try to find out some information. Memories stay with us and while the rest of the staff were amazing and helpful its a known fact that when checking in to a hotel and it begins badly this stays in the memory of the guest. I am sure the young man is very good at what he does and efficient but wow believe me a smile and friendly words makes the biggest difference ALWAYS, and please when guests come up to the counter an acknowledgement by this young man would have been appreciated rather then his head down working on something and said nothing. I worked many years in different countries working reception, reservations and other departments and hope this young man takes this on board as constructive criticism . Thank you again for your time, I only regret I did not leave a tip for the porter who helped me to my room as I was still pretty upset, for this I am sorry and regret not seeing him again.

Frustrating is the one one that covers it. Checkin was slow as despite booking direct on your web site the receptionist was looking for a booking.com reservation even though I was showing the confirmation page to them. The room was fine and then I went to get a small lunch at the bar. I was told the only food at the bar was crisps and so I walked off only to find a cake counter near the entrance and I later discovered there is apparently a 24hr restaurant somewhere - it would have been nice if the barman had pointed these out instead of just offering a packet of crisps. I browsed the menus online during the afternoon to choose where I went for dinner and what I would have. When I got to the restaurant the menus are all different to the ones online. Then finally you mention in the room about express check out. Just drop your key and go you say. SO I did only to be called back to pay for my extras. I mentioned the express checkout and was told that is only for the room (which you pay for when you check in)

« Way below the standard of what I would expect of Novotel »

Firstly check in long with someone pushing in front of me and reception staff giving them all the attention, no explanation or apology. The hall way carpet leading to the room is dirty beyond acceptable. The room is outdated by about 30 years. My partner thinks it best just to knock the hotel down and start again. Bed for our 13 year daughter was not prepared (we arrived around 8pm) and had to wait for ages for it to be done, and then the person doing it put not top cover on bed (ie only sheets and pillows) Staff smoking outside elevators near reception - completely unacceptable anywhere in the world in 2017. Complimentary driver back to the airport was the most wonderful happy man, if only there were more like him. Next time we will stay at the new airport Le Meridian Hotel.

We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. I liked the swimming pool but it was a little cold. I loved dinner at the swimming pool restaurant; the food was delicious and the service was excellent. It's a very cosy hotel with good value for money.

All professionally handled. However, 1st room we were given had several problems, such as: no kettle, no stool/chair at writing desk, standing lamp globe o/o/o/, bedside lamp o/o/o/, no waste per bin, bindle of loose writes next to bedside table, picture fall of the wall. 2bd room, was in order. Evening buffet food was not warm. Breakfast was good.

On the final night of that stay, my parents and I went out for dinner. There was a small amount of food which was left over from that meal. To avoid wasting that food, we accepted the restaurant's offer to wrap it up for us, to take away. When we arrived at the Novotel, the security guard at the front door pointed to a laminated sign stating that no food is permitted to be brought into the hotel. He then confiscated the food package. I explained to him that our intention was not to consume that food on the hotel premises, but rather to keep it refrigerated in the room's minibar until we checked out the following morning and took the food away with us. I even suggested keeping the food package stored in the hotel's own refrigerators until we checked out. The security guard's response was to ask me to explain this to the hotel's reception desk, who would most likely ring him to allow me to keep the food package with me at the hotel.    I duly followed this advice and spoke to a gentleman at reception. I made my case for the second time to him. His response was that he would get the Duty Manager to come and speak to me. When I questioned what in my opinion was an unnecessary escalation, especially when the security guard seemed quite sure that resolving such a matter was not an unusual occurrence and was at the discretion of the reception staff, the front desk gentleman responded by asking me to take a seat until the Duty Manager was available to speak to me, without explaining why the involvement of the manager was required.  I was met by the Duty Manager and I explained my situation for the third time, pointing out that I was quite displeased to have to make a simple, reasonable request thrice. The Manager did not acknowledge any of my dissatisfaction and insisted on refusing to grant me a discretionary exemption, even when I reminded him that I am a Gold Club member who was staying at his hotel for the first time. Consequently, I realised that the wrapped-up food would be left to rot by the front door of the hotel. Therefore, I proceeded to retrieve the food package and consume it outside the hotel, instead of wasting it. I left my elderly parents with the Duty Manager, pleading with him. Shortly afterwards, I saw my mother coming to the hotel's entrance and asking me to go back in. Behind her I could see the Duty Manager making a gesture towards me indicating that I needed to come in, without moving a single step from where he was standing when I met him. I must say that that gesture did not appear at all welcoming. In fact, to me his gesture appeared arrogant and condescending. When I walked through with the food package, I was very surprised to hear the Duty Manager say "is that what you wanted". My reply was that what would be helpful is an apology and demonstrating some discretion towards an unhappy customer. The Duty Manager's response was that there was nothing at all that he could do. I was appalled to feel obliged to point out to him that as a manager at the hotel there was actually a lot that he could offer me to make up for this. All I got from him in response was a shrug of the shoulders.  If this is how one of the most senior staff members at a Novotel treats a loyal customer (and does so with no shame at all), how on earth does L'Accor hotels select and train staff!

Airport hotels: nobody wants to stay there, but we have to. It’s run down, because you have no regular guest and expectation levels are low. Upgrading ? Who cares ? Guests only stay one night...

the most friendly and helpful receptionist ever, so lovely and great first impression of hotel, and the most facilitating an early check in. Great staff that know the true value of customer service special mention for reception and the restaurant first class service, the evening menu was varied, for the room, it was spacious and very comfortable.

« Disappointing »

I was not treated as a golden Accor member. The reception made a mistake putting me in a double bed room while my reservation was a single bed room. However i mentioned this during the chek in. And I repeated my complain at the reception desk second day with just promises from them to change my room .. And I stayed all the period with no response from them .. The hotel hospitality is very poor especially at the front desk .. Compared to my previous experience with ACCOR hotels in different countries and also inside Egypt.

nice hotel fast check in - check out - Amazing Buffet for Breakfast Lunch and dinner - good staff specially restaurant staff and chief but one negative thing was the room we received the room and toiletries seemed to be arranged for single not double room also water and coffee there was quantity for 1 person only but next day they put stuff for double room normally the room had some smell , bath tub settled Higher than normal and it cause some risk of fall while in and out of it in general the hotel was nice and we enjoyed our stay thanks Sameh h.
