« A great place to stay »

This was our second stay at Novotel Valenciennes and there were some changes. Obviously the building works were causing some problems with limited space but I think the staff were coping reasonably well. The hotel in general just felt a little tired and we were dissapointed with the paper cups on the complimentary tea tray in the bedroom. We are coming that way again next year and shall probably stay overnight once more on our way to north west France from Holland and looking forward to seeing some improvements.

Satisfied, sleep quality good, good position for a stop over. The deviation for the A2 going east takes you round in circles, so go west turn round at junction 18

We found this hotel with ease, very comfortable good staff, good for a stop over.There is a deviation in place at the moment 09/09/2018 if you are going west no problem if you are going north or east go west to the next junction and turn around happy days.

We had a nice stay at Valenciennes. Have stayed there twice. Our kids use the pool, which was much needed in the heat. The room was spacious and clean. We used the hotel as a stop on the way to Normandy.

A very tired room - incredibly hot - even though it was a very hot weekend there was no air flow in the room. damaged hinge and glass in window. Replacement 'generic' TV remote not fully functional.

The stay was very unsatisfied. When I arrived to the hotel, receptionist could not deduct my accord points (6000 units) as he did not have an access to his code. Tis is not my problem. After 30 mn, I was forced to pay the full price as receptionist didn't care. He offered us some water at the bar as a "compensation" but the barman never shown up. Tis is trulLy bad service. What's point of choosing Novotel if you never can use your point because of so called "technicals problems". It's always the same wherever I go. I am tired of your behaviour. I have engaged a refund case.

hotel a bit tired but staff very helpful. didn't like the fact that credit card was charged with 110 Euro for auto depart. when I had already paid for stay including food. many of the items on the food menu were not available as were two of the drinks. when booking the gourmet night it states that 2 courses from the a la carte menu this is not the case of is from a restricted table d'note menu

« Unusually disappointing »

I stayed for 2 nights and when attending for breakfast on the first morning, it was a disaster. I arrived at 8am and there was not one clean table. Literally every table was left with the dirty dishes still on them. There appeared to be limited effort to clean away the dirty dishes. I missed breakfast on the first morning and made sure I turned up at 7:15am the next morning to avoid the same issue.

We spent four nights at the Novotel . We were in the Nord and had appointments in Douai and Aniche. We didn’t hesitate staying in Valenciennes since the hotel is the best in the area.

« Good location and facilities - some poor service »

The check-in online was efficient, and the reception staff were helpful. Dinner in the restaurant was a different story. We were shown to a very small table, when other individual (French) guests were given tables for four (for their sole use). We ordered drinks with the meal, and the waiter forgot to bring them. We told a colleague, who brought the drinks, but when we checked the bill later we had been charged twice. When we pointed this out to the server (female) she clearly did not believe us, and reluctantly changed the bill. There was no apology.
