Incorrect room was booked for my stay then I had to pay for an upgrade just to accomodate my stay. Not really fair when I never made the mistake. Reception stay were a pleasure to deal with and didn’t blame them for the error.

« Pricy but not that level »

I know Sofitel due to my friend told me it’s one of luxury hotel in Accor group and recommend me to experience it. Actually I ever stayed in some luxury or 5-star hotels such as Mandarin Oriental, Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Peninsula, Shangarila, Six Senses, Grand Hyatt, Sheraton, Marriott, Mulia, W, ... around the world. I will NOT recommend that Sofitel can be the same level at one of them and even it’s far beyond. Sofitel is just like a 3-star hotel for business trip but luxury hotel price. The breakfast is even beyond, no helper for loyalty member, and the worst, this is my first time to be charged by credit card surcharge fee for my total expense. The reception claims it’s a very common fee for credit card payment in Australia but I was not charged it in Sydney or other cities in Australia.

We do like to organise a late check out whenever our availability permits and I am sorry that we were not able to do this for you on this stay. We have recently completed stage one of refurbishment to update carpet, blinds and fresh paint in the rooms and hope to commence the next stage in the near future. Great! We met at a wedding at your hotel and now are getting married ourselves. We live on the goldcoast so it was a big spend for a night away we didn’t necessarily need. I was slightly disappointed that nothing romantic was done for us even though I understand it is not your job to do so. But still a great night for the two of us.

A bigger bath would have been nice as would bath products. Checkin staff good, wait time for breakfast exceptionally poor, should have stayed with room service what I did eat was cold.

Room was great, had a lovely view with a balcony. However breakfast was really not ok for the cost, and options provided on that particular day for a vegetarian. I was told it was Chinese New Year which is why none of the normal hot vegetarian options were available. Tomatoes in the same hot area as the sausages - not touching but still gross. Nothing else but eggs. The chef did not even know what I was talking about when I asked if the eggs were free range - so I didn't eat them as I would assume they would be caged. In this day and age anyone working in the food industry should know where the food they are using comes from - enough animal cruelty already. As a brand, Sofitel should support using ethical food and provide excellent quality food - you charge enough for breakfast to do this. Your chefs should know everything about food and you should ALWAYS cater for vegetarians and vegans. We don't just eat fruit and salad. That really annoyed me and was not the best start to my day. If you charge a premium I expect a premium and that includes food options.

Attached is some feedback on my check out experience. Stressful, confusing and unnecessarily disruptive. Nathan was very welcoming on my check in, pleasant and genuine. Check out - He was confused and asked to see my bank statement to prove I had prepaid even though I displayed my wotif email confirmation. I had a Sky bus hence why I was time poor but I was there at the front desk with my laptop trying to demonstrate I had prepaid. So maybe some further training for your staff. Also, I recognise most hotel gyms have minimal equipment however, your Broadbeach site is very poor. No weight equipment which is unusual. Thanks for the opportunity to provide direct feedback.
