We always use Novotel and Mercure on our trips and have stayed at the Novotel Rouen Sud a number of times. It’s always been pleasant as standard /expected. This time there were works going on so the reception area was covered in screed. That was fine by us though odd to see the week before Christmas. However because the ground floor corridor was closed off, to reach our room we had to walk up one floor, walk the length of the corridor and take the stairs down again. Easier said than done with a kid, a child, a baby in arms and luggage. The hotel knew our family composition of course so I feel there should have been some thought given to that. We had also asked for a top floor room anyway so we got sent back to the ground floor, our request being ignored. We are sure the works are for the better anyway. Another disappointment this time was to see a number of bugs (counted 4) in the hallway. There is no excuse for bugs inside, in our opinion. There should be top notch pest control systems in a hotel. Otherwise all good as always and the food was fabulous.

It was a short business trip for 3 nights. Nevertheless I could taste the "local" cuisine despite I have to follow the rules of gluten-free diet.

No hot water. No apology for this.The menu was poor and the noodles were overcooked by some time. Fire alrm during the night. WHy were we put in a room as far as possible from reception when the hotel wa nerly empty?

Pleasant stay while working nearby. Everybody I met seemed happy in work and spoke a reasonable standard of English as my French in non-existent. There was a relatively simple menu but I could find something different to eat each night which didn’t disappoint.

Luckily the personnel is so friendly it makes up 50% for the disgusting staines next to the bed of room 222... But believe me this is not the only room... I am sorry but this is exactly the reason why we are coming less and less to this hotel and change to the mercure val de reuil. It is as if the director there does not see the importance of hygiene....

Friendly, efficient, helpful staff. Adequate, comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast arrangements with a good range of options available on a "serve yourself" basis. Not really inspired by the evening menu, but with a range of restaurants "on the doorstep" it wasn't a problem.
