« Perfect stay, excellent stay stained by billing mess »

Checking in was flawless despite late arrival and pleasant. I had 2 lovely, tasty meals and service was excellent! The gym is really poor. There was an issue with billing, my employer had sent clear instructions to charge a specific credit card as opposed to my credit card. I communicated that information on arrival AND while paying for the extras the evening before my departure. I had the very unfortunate surprise to discover the full amount of my stay had been charged on my personal Credit Card. Due to this, my bank charged me a fee of about £ 9.00 for paying in € and will be charging me another £25/30 for going over my authorized overdraft. The transaction was refunded back to me, but the amount in sterling was a bit less than the original amount. All in all, this error cost me over £ 40.00.

« Warm welcome and comfortable room »

Booking in on-line is not the best experience as the website is not stable and I had to sign in twice. The accommodation is very good and we sleep well. WE bring out own pillows though. Dinner was a mixed experience the mahi-mahi was dry and tasteless but the veal steak very good. The galette des rois was not crisp but tasted OK. Breakfast was advertised as 2 for 1 but we paid 10 euro each. 14 euro for breakfast per person especially is it is in competition with the excellent auto-route aires.

« Mid-refurbishment and poorly-trained F&B staff »

The new areas of the hotel are starting to look good. But we were not told that a refurbishment was taking place. There was a lot of building work and noise during our stay. At check-in I informed a member of the team that I needed gluten-free bread for breakfast. She told me that this was OK, but that she would make sure the kitchen team were informed. The next morning, there was no gluten-free bread. No-one apologised for this. At dinner in the evening, the staff made mistakes and didn’t seem to care. We spoke basic French to them, and they used that against us, blaming us for issues. They were unfriendly and cold. In the afternoon in the bar, the staff were assembling new pieces of furniture together and a fireplace. When I told the barman I had been waiting for a long time to be served, he shrugged. There was a real sense of the refurbishment and the event taking place being far more important than paying hotel guests. The staff gave French service a bad name.

« Comfortable, clean. No hot breakfast on the second morning. We were not late but the waiter obviously wanted to go off shift. »

Overall pleasant stay, comfortable bed and much improved dinner and breakfast. Aircon still noisy and not very effective. Pillow choice still lacks a soft option making a good night's sleep very difficult to achieve

The staff were pleasant and obliging. Unfortunately there were not many in evidence at breakfast. The bed seemed lumpy and the curtains were hanging off the rail. Breakfast was not worth the money - will not bother in future.

« Generally good but... »

I found the hotel attractive and refurbished very well. The room was fine. Parking good to have Staff in general very welcoming and professional. Dinner was tasty and staff attentive. The one negative was breakfast. No plates, some food not available, staff all pretty useless. Great pity.It spoiled an otherwise very pleasant stay.
