« Disappointing meal »

The room was fitted out to a high standard with USB charging points in abundance. The bed was comfortable but a bit firm for my choice. We ate in the restaurant and were disappointed with the meals we had. My entrecote was cooked as requested but was very gristley for an entrecote. I complained to the waiter and he offered a second one which I declined as we had already finished and wasn't confident that it would be any different. The biggest shock came the next morning when we got the bill. Each beer had cost over 8 € and it was the same beer which a few days earlier we had paid 6€ for in an Ibis. I know that Novatel is a step up from Ibis room wise but the bar prices and standard of food were nowhere near those we had experienced a few days earlier.

we checked in at 3pm and the room was ready. overall satisfied but 1 thing to mention was the bulb was missing from the lamp on the desk. it was so dark that i could not work. told the reception on day 2 But it was not fixed when we returned in the evening.

« Pretty much as we expected »

Good location, clean and had secure parking. Bed was comfortable, but there wasn't much space between the bed and the wall. (My partner found himself cramped for space getting in and out of bed.) There was no toilet brush in the loo. Food was OK. We were happy to find that the selection of beer was better than last time, although this seemed to be a closely guarded secret which had to be prised out of the barman. You might sell more beer if you advertise what you have on offer! My partner particularly enjoyed the breakfast.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. It is convenient for the peripherique, you can get a bus directly to the centre of Caen and it takes about ten minutes, it has secure parking, the rooms are comfortable, the staff are charming and the breakfasts are copious.
