It’s time to explore and smell the artisan bread and fresh coffee at North Coast NSW’s farmers’ markets.

New South Wales’ North Coast is lined with small (and bigger) towns offering weekday, weekend and even monthly markets that span from fresh produce, night markets and even family-friendly events, plus arts and crafts festivals.

We’ve rounded up the best of the best so all you have to do is pack your re-useable bag and jump in the car.

Bollywood Beach Markets

Where: Woolgoolga Beach Reserve, Lismore
When: First and fourth Saturday of each month from 7.00am – 2.00pm
Enjoy the colour, sounds and flavours of India at this beachside market. With live music, local produce and plenty of stalls selling everything from arts, crafts and Indian clothing to delicious street food, it’s no wonder this market is a hit among the locals.
Whilst the name may suggest this market is solely limited to Indian stalls, in reality, it celebrates many regions around the world including Thailand, Japan, Fiji and Africa, and is a great way to taste and acquire items not available in conventional shops.

Grown and Gathered Community Market

Where: 1493 Pappinbarra Road Hollisdale Hall, Hollisdale
When: First Sunday of each month from 9am to 12pm
Known as the area’s friendliest market, this market was created around the “re-use, recycle, upcycle and re-purpose” mentality, where local residents could bring their farm produce excesses to the local hall to barter and share with other residents. Nowadays, the market has grown substantially, selling everything from vegetables and fruits to seedlings, plants and baked goods. Only a 45-minute drive from Port Macquarie, this little, hidden gem is well worth the visit. Whether you’re coming to do your weekly food shop, looking for unique Christmas or birthday presents or simply want to have a fun day out with family or friends, this market is the ultimate weekend activity.
With a great central location, Port Macquarie is the perfect base to explore the region’s local markets, stay a few nights with Accor
