Nice location with great beachfront. Be aware that some ‘ocean view’ rooms look onto trees on the lower floors. Staff in general are friendly though reception staff are not. Walked up to check in and they were talking among themselves and did not even notice I was a guest.

I always stayed in Mercure Penang on every trip to Penang. The hotel is clean, just next to beach and never fail to get my free upgrade as a Gold Member. But on this trip i noticed that the hotel might not have enough staff to handle the peak season. When i arrived the is no bell boy to unload my bags and the security guard was doing this. Then for 2 days i tried calling the front office to be connected to room service but no one pick up the phone. Tried almost for 30 mins and end up i walk down to the cafe and ordered there. Otherwise the stay was perfect.

the check in procedure was super messy, huge dissapointment. i came at 3pm was informed room was not ready,required 30mins, so i decided to go for lunch and informed the staff. came back 3 hours later at around 6pm, still room was not ready. I simply cannot tolerate this. spoilt my vacation day. some more i insist for in charge person or manager to contact me for further action - none happened. wasted my time and the money i paid for .

Hotel looks lovely and the lobby, restaurant and pool were fabulous as the view was great, but even though i had already requested and stated that i will need a room with 2 beds they gave me one with 1 bed - even though the lady who checked me in could clearly see there were 4 of us. The bathroom was small and even though it was a sea view you couldn't really see it because of the trees, even though i did say can i have a room higher up. And then i requested a blanket but nope after several requests they had none as the duvets were horrible as the duvet covers were slippery - a word of advice cotton covers are a lot better. The duvet would come out of the covers which was extremely annoying.

Great hotel. Lovely beach, convenient location. Rooms had great sea/beach view. Good size room and very comfortable king bed. Fabulous food at buffet breakfast and restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic 10 day holiday. Thank you for all your care and concern. Only a thing with cleaning. Bathroom glass wall and dining room wall needs some Windex to clean the glass properly and remove water stains. A buff with a soft cloth helps with the cleaning. I have big windows at home so I ow only certain products clean the windows. That's it have had a brilliant time.

overall ok. good breakfast. check in took more than 30mins, our room were not ready although we check in at 5pm. This was our very first stay at Mercure Penang and also the first delayed at check-in in Penang hotels. We never experienced delayed at check-in on holidays.

The staff, and, especially the General manager were extremely well intuned with the operation of the Hotel the needs of the guest. It was unexpected at the Breakfast table on the Thursday, 1/08/2019, that the GM, Norizma, came and took up conversation with me. Even as I was sitting at the Lunch table with the attitude in me, 'I don't want to go home', I knew that it was time to move on. The 'mixture' of the staff was something that, even, some Australian GMs could be invited to the Hotel and work in a similar situation.

I was happy with the staff out of 10 will give them a 15. The manager and the bar tender on 27/7/19 night went their way out and prepared food for my parents . What i am upset is the accor free drinks there i am on a holiday and the best you can offer me was free coffee. Me and family was on a holiday and coffee was the selection given. Second i cant use my vaucher in this hotel. 2 yrs i have been with accor these vaucher just got burn. After booking the hotel then only i found out you cant use then in this hotel. Which is ridiculous. Is like telling you have so many advantages but there triple the amount of catch before you can actually use free vouchers. This will be my last year with accor.
