Noisy hallways... can hear people talking outside the hallways, and the guests across the room and even the adjacent room.

The hallway carpet located at the 21st floor leading to my hotel room has a strong moldy musky smell that is so nauseating that making me gag and have difficulty in breathing.

I complained the strong moldy musky nauseating smell of the 21st floor hallway carpet to Hotel management and received a letter claiming that he (Hotel Manager) did not smell anything. But later when we met face to face he stated that the hotel management will initiate and deep cleaning and strip down the 21st floor hallway carpet when the floor emptied. This is in total contradiction to his letter to me. I requested to move to adjacent Fairmont Hotel and was granted but instead of charging me the agreed rate for the 3 days stay at Raffles - the hotel management charged my 3 days stay at a much higher rate, Previously I was promised that my VAT charges will be waived for Senior Citizen discount but to my disappointment - I checked my invoice and the VAT fees were not waived at all. Very discriminatory practice against Senior Citizen (Age discrimination).

Except for an initial challenge, it was a great weekend overall

Raffles is the most exquisite staycation I have had here in Manila. The room was divine, with the anniversary chocolates, pastries and fruits provided for us. I was amazed by the butler's attention to detail and how the room was impeccably clean. Nothing to complain really as far as the Junior suite is concerned. Unfortunately, the great experience is limited to the suite. First off, I had a challenge with parking. Unfortunately, it is always the case when checking in Fairmont or Raffles that we are not allowed to enter the parking lot because it is full. I observed that I always have to complain in the reception for not letting us in. While your good hotel offers valet, please also do understand that some guests do not want their cars driven. An option should be available for these cases where the guest can already park their car or at the very least enter the parking area and find their slot. This obviously will save time and also allow the gues to check in and enjoy their much awaited staycation. I am just concerned with how we were treated as it did not seem that we had a choice except to wait in the driveway until a parking slot was available. I was very disappointed with the personnel handling this. If I have to be blunt, we are not paying good money to have no other option and it is truly unfortunate that I had to complain before we were treated better. Your package includes afternoon tea and cocktails in Writer's bar. This is a very good deal. However, we did not enjoy it as I expected since your bar is understaffed. All tables were occupied and there was only one staff managing all of us. Again, the facility is aware of the afternoon tea and cocktails slots so I was under the impression that manpower was accounted for. It took us 30 minutes before we could order our afternoon tea and another 30 minutes before we were given our order. The breakfast in Mireio was good. I just hope there were ore choices for the main course.

The stay was good though we have experienced few mosquitoes hunting during our first night as there were few big mosquitoes in the room. Second day was also good apart from the face towel in the toilet was dirty with a brown stain (looked like it was use to wipe the dirt in the sink) but was folded nicely to look like newly changed and the coffee cup was not washed too but arranged with a another newly washed coffee cup. I guess the housekeeper thought that only one was used i dont know. But the rest were all good.
