Our experience was very much good but disappointing too. Check in was great, enjoyed the pools. However the gratuity portion of the trip was very frustrating. You should either no include it or make it all the way. Partial gratuity does nothing but hurt your employees that are doing a good job. Or aggravate guests like it did me when my bill comes and it says I tipped $40 on a $5 charge. There were a couple incidents that soured me. Our mini bar was never stocked until the day we left, there were several gratuity discrepancies that made leaving a little easier, also the lady at the front desk when checking out and discussing our bill was very rude and accusatory about the charges. I would like to stay again but it would be nice to know I was a valued customer and not someone that was trying to get additional charges and fees because they could.

I stayed at your property to celebrate a milestone birthday. My sister, a travel advisor with Travel Edge, suggested the Fairmont Mayakoba for my stay in Mexico. She took pains to make sure that the hotel was aware of my special birthday and they said they would do something special for me on my birthday. That never happened. Most of the time I asked if we could do something I was met with the option not being available. There was a old ladder and trashed that was dumped behind our casitas. I took the front desk about the ladder/trash and they did have it removed. On a positive note there were a few employees that went out of they’re way to be helpful.

This is our 6th year at this resort. That alone is a testament to the quality of this place. We are also able to provide meaningful feedback to the management. We love the echo friendly setting, it feels private at Mayakoba and the atmosphere is relaxing. The beach area has been redone beautifully and food and service are of great quality. We love biking around the resort. We have noticed a couple of trends this year that are a little concerning. The menu change and portions at Laguna and Las Brizas are not great. We are used to paying high prices at this resort but the food is always fresh and portions are reasonable. We are not a family of big eaters but it’s apparent portions have been reduced and prices gone up. The freshly made guacamole we love was not on point during this trip and again smaller portions than we are accustomed to. The buffet breakfast at Laguna remains our favorite! Not sure why they took that away from Las Brisas but I would offer that option. El Puerto has the best menu at the resort. The resort is also starting to show wear and tear. Bricks are coming apart on the trails and casitas need updating. I would like to say a special thank you to Eric Viera for being super helpful with our booking and upgrades. Hopefully next year we will see fine of the improvements suggested ;) This resort has become our Spring Break home.

3 days of experiencing how the rich live!

Overall this was a wonderful experience. With very few exceptions the level of service was exemplary. The staff in all areas went beyond normal expectations to make us feel special. When asked where a particular location was the employee would invariably stop whatever they were doing and actually take us where we wanted to go. This impressed me immensely. Also we very much liked the idea of the bicycles as a means of transportation; we used them whenever we could. Given that I have rated our overall experience so highly, there were 2/3 areas of criticism, which I hope that you will understand are given only so that you can improve even more. I have been coming to Playa for almost 20 years, staying in the same condo close to Mamita's beach. I now live in a tropical country, so the main attraction for me of Playa is the beach. This time we stayed 4 nights at the condo before moving to the Fairmont. I was dismayed to see what had happened to the beach in Playa since my last visit 5 years ago (much smaller and covered in seaweed.) I realise that you are doing everything possible in your section of the beach to keep it "clean", but sadly this will be a major deterrent to me returning to Playa in the future. I had booked the Fairmont Mayakoba primarily because of the offer on pricing, which I felt unable to resist. I didn't regret the decision. At checkout I was charged an additional "resort fee" for each night. While it wasn't a lot of money (US#20.00 per person), and I didn't bother to quibble about it, it was unexpected from the time that I made the online reservation with Orbitz. Perhaps I missed the fine print! I was first told about it when we checked in. Our first night we ate at El Puerto restaurante. To be honest it was a disappointment and we never returned there. My wife ordered the costillas, which was in fact one big rib which she couldn't cut, let alone chew. I tried it and I couldn't eat it either. She then ordered what turned out to be simple fried rice with a fried egg on top, although with a fancy name! I will admit that that the "fusion/latino" style of cooking was not to our taste, even though we live in South America. We then ate exclusively in the Mexican restaurante, La Laguna, which we enjoyed very much. We were in room 511. Between that room and the main reception building there is a beautiful, secluded, quiet piscina. We loved it, and when not at the beach that's where we spent our time. What we liked about it in particular was that there was no music apart from the songs of the birds. It had however one disadvantage; one time while at this pool we wanted to order drinks. There was no waiter to be seen. I asked three passing workers but they had no idea how I could get service and couldn't get away fast enough. Later we saw a waiter delivering drinks to another person at the pool. I went over to him and asked him to come to see us after he'd finished with those guests. We never saw him again. Then I asked a towel attendant to find me a waiter, which he promised to do. That was the last we saw of him. We never did get to order our drinks! It wasn't a big deal and in fact we made a joke out of it between ourselves, but it's something that you should look at. Also we were beginning to become a little bit disappointed that the music at the beach and elsewhere didn't have more of a local, Mexican, flavor. After all, you are located in Mexico. However the music at the Mexican fiesta night on our last night restored our faith. These are very minor quibbles, but given what you charge for the experience I hope that you will accept them in the spirit in which they are given - to help you improve what was a 9 out of 10 level of service to 10 out of 10. I would have no hesitation in recommending the resort and, if I return to Playa, to considering a return visit to the Fairmont Mayakoba. Thank you very much for an enjoyable stay at a luxury resort.

Staff is extra professional and helpful, location is probably one of the best in the Peninsula, close to both Cancun and all historic and other sites. All inclusive package is one of the most prestige ones I’ve ever experience. I would Highly recommend this place for anyone and cannot wait for another similar package to visit Fairmont Mayakoba soon.

Staff were very attentive and always ready to help with whatever we needed. Service was really quite good. Rooms were well stocked and very clean. Common areas were lovely and restrrooms in the hotel and pool areas were very clean and well stocked.

We celebrated my wife's special birthday with my son and daughter and their families in late April. Everything about our stay was outstanding. We took the all-inclusive package and can honestly say the food at all of the onsite restaurants was terrific, as well as the food from beach/pool service. Our grandchildren ( my daughter and son's children) had a great time together as we all did. The all-inclusive was perfect because we did not want to leave the Hotel for the time we were on vacation with young children. We could eat when we needed to eat so the youngest ones could go to sleep or the one, who still naps could take his afternoon nap. The rooms and the location of our rooms as close as they were to each other AND the amazing layout of the amenities was a big part of the decision to stay at the Hotel. Only disappointment was the excessive seaweed and algae in the ocean water, which was a seasonal problem and a natural occurrence, but we took advantage of the kayaks and other water equipment; spent some time in the ocean water; and enjoyed the games on the beach. The pools, especially the one by the beach, were outstanding.

We enjoyed our time at the Fairmont Mayakoba. The staff were very helpful and kind (particularly the valet staff). Sometimes the staff at the pool and the beach were hard to find and it was difficult to place food and drink orders. The room was very nice and comfortable. However, there were some minor things in need of repair--one of the lamps was broken and the faucet was leaky and the clock was broken. We enjoyed our spa experience very much. We were somewhat disappointed by the food. Everything we had was quite average--even at the nicer restaurants. The best meal we had was at the Andaz on the beach next door. However, we did really enjoy the cocktails and the bartender at the swim-up bar was wonderful.

This resort was fantastic! From the excellent food and drinks to the exceptional service, this is one place I will definitely go back to. I loved that you could ride bikes or get a lift from the golf carts around the property. We normally like to only stay at Adult Only resorts, but Fairmont Mayakoba is so big, you had enough space that you could avoid the kids. I can't say enough wonderful things about the staff, from our first interaction with the lovely front lobby person to the gardeners who greeted us as we walked by, they take service to a new level. 100% recommend, we had an incredible vacation!
