« A pleasant Stay »

New and quiet hotel. Next to the bus and train station. Staff is friendly. However, the room is small for 3 pax. The hotel has a nice lounge on the top floor. Worth to visit if you are staying there.

I've stayed here several times and find it an excellent base for visiting Dutch museums, art galleries and concert halls. Very convenient for public transport to Amsterdam (about 5 minutes by train) and for direct trains to Haarlem, Leiden, the Hague and Rotterdam. Great staff: friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast is wonderful.

We booked two Family room through Expedia. We paid for the two rooms to both have a double bed and two singles. Upon arrival we were given rooms with not enough beds. One of the rooms eventually got changed for us, but the other did not.

Despite checking in online the day before my trip, and stating that I was due to arrive before noon, I was told on arrival that my allocated room wasn't available but that I could have another identical room that was available. It seemed a bit odd that I wasn't just allocated the available room from the outset, but I was happy to take what was ready. I noticed straight away that the room was freezing cold but assumed it was because the heating would only come on once I'd activated my card key. I then went to my business meetings and when I returned in the evening, I made sure I switched on the heating. I then went for dinner in the hotel restaurant which took a very long 2 hours because they were understaffed (they said). I came back to my room to find it freezing still, so I called reception and was told I had to put the heating on to 26 and that this must have been the cause of the problem. This seemed odd but I tried this and of course it didn't do anything at all. I then tried to call reception again but no one answered the phone over the course of about 10 minutes. I had to go downstairs to speak to someone, and found 2 receptionists at the front desk without any guests around. They had no explanation as to why they hadn't picked up the phone. In any case, I told them that they needed to fix the heating in my room. It was now about 10pm. I was then told that there had been no heating at all on the whole floor that day and that the hotel was now fully booked so they couldn't move me to another room. I was really annoyed about this lack of communication because at check in nobody told me that the room I could use had no usable heating. No note was pushed under the door during the day. And in fact someone had even told me to play with the temperature. All they said they could do was provide me with a heater. There was no apology or willingness to try to fix this in a way that worked best for the customer. I asked to speak to the duty manager, and he was able to find me a room. The room wasn't completely clean (there was a dried contact lens on the bedside table, and ring marks from a coffee cup), but it was warm, and by this time, I just wanted to get to sleep. The restaurant came down with a glass of cognac for me, which was a nice gesture, but overall I would never recommend this hotel based on this experience.

Nice hotel but a little far from City center. Very close to train station, 12min to airport, 5min to center ($4 per person). Very close to bus station, 45min to airport. Large room, amazing shower, good number of TV channels

« Online check in complete waste of time »

I checked in online, this was a complete waste of time, I was still asked for my passport, still made to pay for my room upon arrival. You advertise online check in as a way to save time on arrival. I queued for 10 mins to check in and it took another 10 mins for my information, that you already have, to be put into the system.

« Ok but could do better »

Reception is helpful, room is great with nice fabrics, appreciate le club members dedicated floor, excellent chef in the sky lounge restaurant but service staff could do with product training. I had difficulties locating the hotel parking, you could definitely improve signage for this. I slept on 6januari in room 716, and I have suspicion about bed bugs: I did not sleep under the sheet after feeling some sort of rash on my legs.

We celebrated our 17th wedding with our friends, we had 5 rooms booked and no one had taken note on my booking, no upgrade offered which was sad!!!! Also I asked for a travel adapter plug to borrow for a medical machine but they did not have one ???? It was very difficult to find one in Amsterdam and took me many hours of walking. Later when I checked out the male staff told me the hotel sells them!!!! I was very cross at this. Our room also smelt bad like sewage drains.

It did take a while to get checked in but me party was given free drinks in the bar to compensate. The room was good however the lightening is very poor in the full length mirror in the room, doing my make up is part of my routine and the lightening did inconvenience us a lot. I was a bit upset to find out that using Accor app to book with Mercure didn’t get me any points.

The hotels location is ideal for people travelling with the hopes of being in s peaceful area, but also being near enough to transport for them to explore and enjoy as they desire. The rooms and beds are spacious and the level of cleanliness is high. The only issue would be the size of the gym and lack of things to do in the hotel - there was no spa option, the gym was tiny considering how many people they can accommodate in the hotel and the TV channels were limited. The price of breakfast was costly!

Overall the hotel was nice, and in a great location, the staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant upstairs did not have a great selection on the menus and also the room service has terrible selection for food, I wish it had a menu we would have eaten at the hotel more. I didn't expect a city charge when checking out that should have been informed & included in paying at the start at booking. Overall I would rate the hotel 7 out of 10
