The room was fine, and the breakfast also. However, the dinner experience was not at all good. The menu has changed since last year, the choice is reduced, the quality of what we ordered was not good. The burger ordered was dry, chewy and had no taste at all

It’s often I can say that a hotel stay has been perfect, but the Royal St George definitely deserves the accolade. From the warm welcome, information given, beautifully appointed room, the little touches like a welcome note in the room signed by the manager, we felt that it mattered to the staff that we enjoyed our stay.The dining room was excellent, dinner with a good variety of choices of local cuisine, delightful waiting staff, breakfast was very varied, well displayed, delicious and ooh the tea selection had us ditching our coffee for the wonderful choice of teas. (Panic not we finished off with cappuccino and lattes so we got our caffeine fix before hitting the mountains!) The welcome didn’t end as we checked out either, as often happens, we were made to feel honoured guests and welcomed to return.

« Moldy, uncomfortable room. »

There was mold in the bathroom which set off my asthma. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Moreover, the room was always too hot, despite turning off the heat. Neither my husband nor I got a good night’s rest because of this. Add to this the constant church bells every 15 minutes, and we were miserable. The least the hotel could do is provide earplugs, but you didn’t even do that -we asked. Lastly, housekeeping is lazy. When we arrived in our room, our toiletries were used and they were not replaced during our stay. When the bed was made, everything was crooked and the maid didn’t even bother to fluff my pillow - I could still see the indentation of my head. All in all, I’ve had better stays at a holiday inn than at this p.. I am so disappointed by how much money I paid and what crappy service I got for it. I’ll never come back.

We didn't get the room reserved, but got a discount and extra points as compensation.The staff was very helpful and welcoming.At the modern spa the 2 jacuzzis were not operating.Staff at bar and restaurant (Gabriela) was marvelous

Lovely appointed old style corner room with 3 balconies. Only improvements required are to have a fixed overhead shower head (rather than just a handheld showerhead) and brighter lights in the otherwise well appointed bathroom.

« Rooms are too warm with no AC »

It was not stated in Sofitel website or any website that there is no Air conditioning in the room. As Sofitel is an international hotel chain, It has always hold up to its reputation and name. I was shocked when I learnt it myself that there was no Air conditioning. We were not told by the reception that there is no air conditioning. I would highly recommend the hotel to invest in air conditioning and see it as a Long term investment. As it is very hot/ warm and stuffy in the room at night. I believe most of the hotel guests are paying 330-400 EUR per night, which is a significant amount and does not justify for an international hotel with no air conditioning.

We had 3 great nights in early October 2018 at the Hotel Royal St Georges Interlaken. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were nice and equipped with those extras like coffee machines that help to make a better experience. The hotel is conveniently located and only a short walk from Interlaken Ost railway station. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was excellent and similar in price to a number of the less appealing independent restaurants in Interlaken. Only suggestion is maybe a bit more/varied choice at the breakfast buffet.

Beds much too hard. Tub shower in need of much maintenance. The shower head was small, dirty and had mold. The hose to the shower head was wore out and black with mold at the top. The shower itself had mold. The staff did not replenish the frig (minibar) except when I asked. I was told minibar was complimentary then was charge for use of it upon leaving. I never received a receipt but was told one would be emailed to me. After I left I looked at what I had agreed to pay and what showed up on my credit card. It appears I overpaid by about $100. I stay at many Accor hotels and in fact have three stays with them scheduled in other parts of France. My patience wears thin with this chain. Too often maintenance is neglected in their hotels and you can find much better deals and better quality elsewhere. Despite my many stays with them and silver status really get not benefits aside from a complimentary drink at their bar.This hotel is not deserving of the MGallery designation.

Hotel is just a 5 minute walk from the Interlaken OST train station and boat terminal where you can easily commute by train or take the cruise on Lake Brienz. Was upgraded to a room in the new wing of the hotel so room was new, spacious and clean. Good buffet breakfast spread as well. Only downside was that the hotel was fully booked so could not secure a late checkout beyond 1pm.
