« Great hotel staff »

I had a group from my organization staying at this hotel for a meeting at the Universidad de Chile. I have to say that my meeting was only a success in terms of logistics because of Geraldine Cossio at the front desk. Geraldine was amazing, she followed up on my requests, she followed through and from the beginning I knew that I didn't have to worry about logistics. The logistics person at my office left at the last minute and I was really worried because I didn't have any help to organize transportation for the group etc but because I could count on Geraldine, logistics worked out perfectly and I was right to feel that I could rely on her. It almost felt like she worked for the organization! Geraldine, thank you so much for all your help. And to Geraldine's boss, she's an excellent employee and deserves a promotion. « Nice hotel but corrupt taxi service »

It started off very badly. We pre-booked a taxi from the airport to the hotel. I’ve traveled internationally and had probably 100 drivers meet me at airports without problems. We arrived on time and waited 20 mins at their designated meeting point at the airport with no sign of the driver. We called the hotel and they said the driver wouldn’t be there for several hours, so we had to take a higher priced regular taxi (and probably got cheated on the pricing). We asked many times at the hotel to get their taxi agency to refund us the difference (about $50 USD) but they refused. Net: I encouraged them to fire that agency and don’t use their taxi services. The other aspects of the hotel were good, but their defense of the taxi company was a 0.

« Good overall experience with one negative thing »

Nice room, courteous staff, good pool area, great area. Only thing that was negative was the room service I ordered one day. I ordered pizza margarita and I found it to be really atrocious and inedible. Strong words, but I eat pizza very often and this is one of the worst I’ve seen. I suggest you do something with the pizza making, or remove all pizza from the menu. It shouldn’t be like that. Otherwise an excellent stay.

« Bad move »

In general, average. However, my wife and I got charged, without even checking that the Gatorade and chocolate we ate, were not only, purchased outside the hotel, it is something you don't carry on your room fridges. It is not the charge itself, which wil eventually will be reimbursed, it is the lack of tact and common sense.

« An oasis in a bustling city »

Stepping into the lobby from that big busy sidewalk was a welcome relief. From that moment the noise and bustle of the city were gone and the tranquility of the hotel overcame it all. The thoughtful design of the lobby and rooms were modern and clean, obviously well maintained. The professionalism of the desk staff was obvious. The very tall fellow in the evening in particular was very helpful, friendly, and made me feel welcome, a smile never left his face. There were some things I’d like to mention that could use improvement: 1. The cards in the rooms that described the method for getting on-line were inaccurate, starting with the name of the network. And because I have an iPhone, the method was entirely different from the card. The card did not state that it was necessary to go to mercure.com in order to enter the passwords. It was useless. 2. I was surprised there were no wash cloths available in that beautiful bathroom. Perhaps it’s a cultural difference. I don’t always use a washcloth but sometimes when I feel particularly grimy from a long flight it’s nice to have that little extra cleaning power. 3. I appreciate that there is a well dressed security man at the door and that he keeps the people who come into the lobby safe from others who don’t belong, but his intimidating and decidedly unfriendly face are the first introduction to your hotel. I realize the a smiling security guard might not deter the people who should not be there, but perhaps there is a different solution to this unfriendly first impression. He literally stands in the middle of your path just behind the second set of automatic glass sliding doors, as if I might need to be frisked immediately upon entering. And honestly it caused me to wonder if I chose a hotel in the entirely wrong part of the city, that perhaps this neighborhood was not the ideal place to have as the base for my exploration of the city. Aside from those few minor annoyances, everything else from the pool to the breakfast, the lobby cappuccino stand and the tall backed chairs in the elevator lobby were outstanding. I will definitely return if my travels bring me back to Santiago.

« Good, would be better with quieter air con »

The air con unit is too loud. I could not turn down the fan speed. I was too tired to raise it as an issue. Lucky I was super tired and had to sleep with a pillow over my head. Also suggest providing a zoomed in map of the immediate area, say within 1 or 2 kms with restaurants bars etc.

« Beautiful rooms and pool »

Overall our stay was great. Awesome location in the city center. Great pool, great clean rooms. The only issue was a broken elevator that caused us to miss our tour, but that was just bad luck. And the hotel made up for it by arranging a private tour, on their dime, so it actually worked out even better. Recommend!

The staff were extremely helpful with recommendations for my specific dining requirements and assistance with not speaking the language. I found that my room to have several issues. My pass card did not work in the room I was first given. The toilet ran all the time. The shower had problems with adjusting the temperature. The pool was very dirty looking and not inviting at all.

« Modern hotel »

Our room was spacious on the 8th floor. Very comfortable room. One lift was out of action the whole time we were there and everyone had to wait a long time for a lift. The pool area is very nice and has a smoking area. We had one lunch and a breakfast in the restaurant. The lunch menu has a limited a mount to offer and nothing local. The central location was good. We didn't like the street people sleeping outside the hotel.

« Centrally located nice hotel »

It was my 2nd time in this hotel. I stayed there 2 years ago and had good memories. It is centrally located, next to the metro line. Walking distance to Lasstaria, the lively area with bars and restaurants. The hotel has a small pool and a few sun beds so it was nice to get some tan in the afternoon.
