Very good location, friendly staff, quiet rooms and great room service. Wish the cafeteria lady was polite and friendly. They always extend a complimentary upgrade if a better room is available. A repeat customer for sure.

2 night stay, great location with easy access to trams to get into the city. $1 breakfast is excellent. Clean and tidy room. Nice surprise of a bottle of bubbles waiting on ice in the room! Very friendly staff at front of house and in the bar and restaurant.

The staff very friendly and helpful. Efficient service. Would definitely stay again. Unfortunately one night we had noise keeping us awake. I found the room next to us at midnight was being cleaned. They were apologetic when I asked for them to quiet down and all was good.

My credit card was charged for a pre authorisation and then charged again. I pointed this out to Mercure reception and they said the pending transaction would disappear. 4 days later it is still there and I don’t have my money back. Absolutely painful to deal with. This was such an inconvenience for me and I doubt I will ever trust Mercure again.

A short break to visit friends and family. Also a chance to be tourists in Melbourne in a lovely city. Parking is expensive but it is the city. The plumbing could be fixed- leaks in the shower and vanity

I had a brief but excellent stay and my comments are meant purely as a help and not as a criticism and are as follows: - a bit of confusion on my loyalty status as I had a lovely welcome gift in my room, but the GSA was a bit unsure and needed to arrange for a welcome drink card to be put under my door as one was not provided. As owner/GM of The Sebel Launceston, I hold a partner platinum card and it seems that often the status does not feed through from the online booking system to Opera (not the only hotel this has happened at and when we tested at our hotel we had the same problem). So also, breakfast wasn't marked down as a package. Please note that by me raising this, I am not saying I was disappointed or angry, just that I look at it from the perspective of other loyalty guests and what they may expect. - I think I probably booked a basic room type but assume I was upgraded as the room I was in had a couch and was very roomy. If I was a standard guest it would have been good to have been told about the upgrade so I could appreciate it. I was in Melb for the Accor All training and this was also one of the things they mentioned - ensure the guest is aware of the gift, or otherwise it will go unnoticed. - probably the lift needs a bit of a scrub : ) Many thanks! Level of room cleaning and cleaning of carpet in foyer and lift was poor

I stayed for 4 nights and the carpet in the lift had the same food and rubbish on it for entire time The coffee table in the room had coffee spilt down the side prior to my arrival and was not cleaned the entire time. The Perspex bed head board was not clean. The lid to the kettle did not clip down and so it did not shut off on boil The large mirror was not clean on arrival however was cleaned the second day

Had a wonderful stay in one of the family rooms which was a great size with separate dining are. Bathroom was a little dated but very clean. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again.

We had a good experience at this hotel. Lobby is impressive, very friendly staff, good location. We had a great rate and our room was clean and spacious. Perhaps we found such a good rate because the view from our window was of another building's wall. This may worry some people, but it didn't really bother us.

Very dissapointed in the poor service provided. Check in took far too long, when i tried to order room service for dinner there was no menu in the room i then proceded to ring room service to just guess order i rang twice with no answer, then i rang reception to try and get through to them (2 team on from when i had checked in) no one answered, rang twice NO response. i then rang concierge ( as i'd seen 2 team on that desk at check in) still no answer after 2 calls !!!!. I turn around and there is a letter under my door asking me to return to reception as my credit card details hadn't saved !!!! - you have time to print and deliver a letter (without knocking) but not to answer you phone for guests??? So i walk down to go to the restaurant - tell the lady there i just want room service she was AMAZING got me a menu and ordered for me. i saw the line at reception was again long so i didn't bother to with my credit card details as i was only staying one night & therefore could do it on checkout. Pathetic service for a hotel chain that caters to business travel.

The music in the lounge/ bar and cafe areas is far too loud the very low tables makes it almost impossible to eat a meal in the cafe area when the only place to is in the when the restaurant is closed.
