Great staff, large room, interesting accommodation facilities. Although aware that the private bathroom was separate from the actual room it was an unusual situation. Both the bathroom and toilet need attention. As does the railing on the veranda (P1).

Lovely staff, great location, poor standard of accomodation, absurdly overpriced.

We had a really enjoyable stay, the outlook is magnificent and the staff were always pleasant and helpful without being fussy at all.

After visiting Q Station many times over the years I was excited to book my first overnight stay and was in desperate need of some R&R to recharge my batteries. The good: - It is hard to beat the location and history of Q Station. I never tire of walking around the grounds, exploring the varous buildings and imagining what life was like in isolation. It is really worth a visit. - The guest lounges were a saviour for me. Booking a getaway on my own, I really didn't fancy spending time in my room and had planned to hang out on the balcony in the fresh air. As I booked the cheapest room with the external bathrooms (which was fine) it meant the outlook I had from my verandah was of the toilet blocks and not very appealing. Discovering a guest lounge across the road with some nice comfortable chairs on the balcony meant I spent a good chunk of my time there. - Staff at reception were lovely and provided good customer service. - Love seeing echidnas The not so good: - My dream of a restful stay did not eventuate. An alarm went off in our block just after 10pm at night and every couple of hours a single beep continued waking me throughout the night several times. Yes, I could have called reception and reported the ongoing beeps (I spoke to them for the initial alarm) and they would have moved me to another room but I didn't fancy packing up my belongings in the wee hours of the night. Now knowing that the alarm did continue, next time I would ask to be moved. - I was surprised to find that my toilet block was 'shared' although once inside we each had separate rooms to use. Being on my own, I would have much prefereed to have my own block for safety purposes. As there were multiple doors that required unlocking you also wouldn't want to be in a hurry to use the facilities! - It was clear that the bathroom had not been used (or cleaned) in a little while as there were dead insects all over the bath and sink. A quick once-over with a cloth would have been enough to remove the bulk of them and made the room much more presentable. It would have been nice to have the toilet seat down on arrival too! - Not a biggie but the advertised extras in the room like an umbrella (wasn't needed), movies (I checked all options on the TV and could find no mention of movies) and even a humble biscuit to go with my coffee were not present. - I was disappointed that I could not use my Accor Plus discount at the Boiler Room unless I purchased a full meal. Didn't see that in the T&C's.
