We absolutely loved our stay at the George Washington. The sole reason for not giving 10 was the leisure facilities. The pool area was a huge disappointment for a hotel the size of The George Washington. With more than 2 in the pool it was simply impossible to swim. The length of the pool was disappointing too. The hotel would be immeasurably improved should it get a new pool area where multiple users can use facilities at same time and swim a decent length (at least 15to 20m). It was such a shame because otherwise our stay was perfect. Wonderfully helpful desk staff, gorgeous comfortable room, beautiful food. Excellent check out time. Despite the disappointing leisure facilities we'd definitely recommend and revisit.

Spent 2 nights at Hotel on business in the Gateshead and Newcastle area. I enjoyed my stay and made use of the swimming pool. I was disappointed that the Steam room wasn't working. Some regular members said it had been like that for a while. I ate in the bar and enjoyed the food. I did find on both nights that the waiting staff were not very attentive and after being seated for some time had to actually attract their attention to place my order. I found that the breakfast service was very good.

I stayed with my partner and our son and we absolutely loved our time here. We stayed in a privilege room and it was a fantastic room with loads of space and light. The whole hotel was absolutely spotless. Breakfast at The Orangery was lovely and my son absolutely loved the pancake machine. We also had dinner at the Carter & Fitch restaurant, where the food was amazing. We all enjoyed using the pool and spa facilities, which were spotless and relatively quiet, so felt like our own private pool at times. All of the staff were very friendly and more than happy to go above and beyond to help in any way. I would highly recommend this hotel for all of the above reasons. We will without doubt be back.
