« Lovely Hotel »

I don't usually stay in five star hotels. I found the experience quite interesting over all. The hotel itself was quite gorgeous, my room lush and quiet, the shower and bathroom spacious with marble tiles, the hallways wide, and great art deco inspired details. The outside garden bar and the eating area were lovely, and the breakfast had an outstanding choice of foods, and was fresh and delicious. I was there during a fairly busy period, but it did seem some sections of the hotel were somewhat under staffed, the check-in counter and in the breakfast room in particular, with the staff there very busy and looking quite stressed at times, despite making an effort to be friendly and helpful to the guests. The staff were friendly and helpful to me and other guests. However, seeing their high stress levels during these particular times, did impact on my overall experience, and was disappointing given the otherwise relaxing and luxurious ambiance of the hotel. Apart from this aspect it was a lovely experience staying in this hotel.

I keep going back because I feel so welcomed and the service is impeccable. Every member of staff I encounter goes beyond expectations. The quality of the food is excellent- important for a foodie like me who retreats to my room after a big day of work.

« Left with a bitter taste »

Let’s start with the positive: the prestige suite was large and comfortable. The food was consistently of high quality. The location was perfect for our needs. The concierge desk was knowledgeable and helpful. We would like to tell you about a couple of things that we were surprised by, considering we are Accor members and used to Sofitel’s high standards of service. 1. Continued inconsistencies in housekeeping-but a few phone calls fixed that. 2. We asked for a late check out and it was accorded, until 3pm. Just now, we asked for a later check out at 5pm, if the suite was not needed, and we were asked for 100$. This is the first time we have ever encountered this, anywhere in the world. The point is not the money, I am sure you understand; it’s the way we felt treated, as longtime customers.

We were treated like royalty. Delightful experience we would like to repeat for our second 50th. The point reduction from the overall experience was due to a double debit for the stay. This was corrected within 2 days of my discovery but reveals a weakness in your accounts system. Others may have taken a dimmer view of this but even though it caused me no financial hardship, it shouldn't happen in an organisation as well grounded in hospitality as Accor is. Breakfast was very average and wasn’t impressed with tv channels on offer. Furthermore the room was tiny with no view whatsoever- considering the nearly $600 price tag I was very unimpressed. I have been asked by colleagues and peers about my stay and I have advised them not to bother.
