We love staying at the Novotel as a family (of four). The rooms are spacious, the breakfast (included in our stay) is amazing, staff are friendly and the location is perfect. Only down side is the pool - it is usually a bit on the cold side and not particularly nice.

Another great weekend stay in the heart of Melbourne. Girly shopping weekend including visiting the Hopetoun Tea Rooms, just next door to the hotel. We choose this hotel, as we can leave our car there, and take the tram to most places including Victoria Markets and other great venues- all for free. Breakfast was especially exceptional with the best barista coffee - really was a great way to start the day. We will be back next year - same time to do it all over again. May I suggest that you look at your pricing for vehicles - compared to Sydney, you really are a little on the higher side of charging!

I will start out with saying that the staff are excellent and are always helpful and accommodating of requests. In comparison to my previous stay, the room was not as comfortable and detracted from my view of the hotel. The pillows must have been quite old as they didn't have a lot of life left and were quite thin. The wallpaper was peeling off on a section of the wall and the drain in the shower is lose and if you stand on it, it caves in. Also, the little things, like the complimentary toiletries, which make you feel at home weren't quite up to scratch. A key item needed is moisturiser, cotton tips are also useful.

Staff at ground floor and 3rd floor reception were great as were domestic staff. Overall the stay was as expected for that class of accommodation although the room we had 1453 lacked enough space to stow our luggage (2 medium suitcases) out of sight. In the wardrobe there is a full size ironing board stowed diagonally so I couldn't put luggage in there and also hang clothes so one case wound up next to the bed the other on the desk which I had to move when I wanted to do some work. Pillow - were not in very good condition. Also poor lighting - esp in bathroom for makeup etc. And finally, the drain in the shower recess is loose and came out when i stepped in. Potential safety issue.

Not good. When your a family of 4 (children aged 10, 11) and you get woken up by drunk people in your room next door at 3am it was not much fun. We hardly had any sleep. When on departure the man at the front desk asked how our stay was, I explained to him about our lack of sleep due to our neighboring room. His response was "that's a shame". So very disappointed and we will be not coming back

Overall and uncomfortable stay. When I arrived back to the hotel after my evening out, the power in the room was lost - air conditioning and the lighting and electrics to the room itself (bathroom and bed side lights still worked) The bed was hard and pillows very flat. Overall not a pleasant nights sleep.

Always well looked after by Franzi, Guest Relations with room upgrades, welcome gifts and enthusiastic welcome. However, overall the hotel experience is let down by service. From no answering of the phone for services to woeful valet car parking experience. One night I called for my car and when I came down, no one had actioned the request. I was late for my appointment as a result. Will have to reconsider my Melbourne hotel options in the future.

The Novotel on Collins St Melbourne is always my preferred hotel when coming to Melbourne for a business trip due to it's location. The service provided has always been ok, the rooms are clean & have never had an issue with the air con. Room service is good as food is still warm when delivered.
