Generally good - as usual- ie food, service etc excellent, however I had my 15yrs with me and discovered both pool table and table football out of order which let things down in the evening

We were given a room on the 4th floor which was a standard double room. We had paid for an Executive room and were told all the 4th floor rooms were now designated as Executive rooms which they are clearly not in terms of configuration, bed and amenities. We were moved on request to a floor 3 Executive room but had to ask several times. I was also asked to pay again when my barclaycard statement showed I had paid in advance. The hotel was very noisy at night . On the plus side the staff were lovely and breakfast was good.

Breakfasts were really good and room well appointed except for very narrow bath. There were some issues. 1) the safe failed to open after being set up properly. 2) the room was not made up on the 1st. 3) although l had done online check in and indicated my time of arrival when l arrived my room was changed. Please take care to do better.

Arrived after a long walk on a warm day. Asked if there was water in the room. We were told no and to buy a bottle at the bar. No one at the bar ! Finally got served to a bottle of expensive water. Got to our room and the key didn’t work ! By this time we are really tired. Went back to reception and fixed the key. Got to our room to find out we had water in our room all along !! Not impressed.

I won’t say it was a bad experience - but it wasn’t a good one and my trip advisor review will reflect just that. Check in took 25 minutes with a queue of people getting very annoyed behind me which made for quite an uncomfortable experience. I suggested nicely to the lady that she went and got one of her four colleagues I could see sitting down gossiping if one of them wasn’t on a break and she actually snapped at me when I was perfectly pleasant. This was not the ideal start to my trip. After the rigorous task of checking in and being accused of not paying until I was adamant your member of staff actually checked into the system and she said I had actually paid - for which I got no apology - the lobby looked busy and full of life, I thought I was going to be really impressed at least with the night there. I was wrong. Lovely location, but not soundproofed rooms at all like the receptionist told me? I was on the 6th floor and I could hear someone being sang happy birthday to on the street? The hallway was cluttered with rubbish and smelt, the room was old fashioned and looked absolutely nothing like the photos online so this was disappointing. The room service is only pizza at night too? Overall it was disappointing for the price - great location but filled with false hope and lies overall.

A disappointment

Arriving at the hotel the entrance is shabby. The flower beds are empty the hanging basket brackets are in unused. The front door has been broken and is just taped up and hasn’t been repaired. The entrance to the underground car park needs cleaning and painting. Checking in was fine and the booking was fine and quick. The room is okay though dark, the bed was lumpy and in truth the rooms need updating The tv controller did not work. Dinner please get waiters who speak English. It is totally clear that the restaurant is not well used as the surrounding competition is high and it looks like you have given up. The first night I choose to have a steak dinner and the mushroom is burnt and virtually inedible. The second night I tried the chicken ceased salad it lacked anchovies and capers and lemon juice. Breakfast was okay but again burnt food was evident why.

I fully agree with your comments about the outside of the hotel. As you probably realized, constant road works in front of the hotel are not facilitating the matter. General cleaning of the whole area will be taking place this week, followed shortly by the necessary and needed gardening works. Glass panel in the external door has been ordered and we are awaiting its delivery. Our Restaurant Manager together with his Team have been already informed about your experience. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I can assure you that we will do our best to give you the great hotel experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of. it was disappointing! we book a room for 4 and we get an uncomfortable extra sofa bed less than 4 towels (sic!) and water from the tap smell rotten eggs...at least some purified water it is expected in such cases! moreover despite the check out it was at 12:00 (as written in the key holder carton) the house keeping started to ask to leave the room at 11:00...

Regarding the missing towels, all our rooms are of double occupancy, while the extra items are being provided when we are expecting more than 2 guests. As per your reservation, the sofa bed has been open and extra towels and bathroom amenities should be provided as well. Please accept my apologies for all the inconvenience caused. I don't know if you've tried to contact the Reception, as we would be more than happy to either change your room or provide necessary towels and water. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. Not great. Good location but stayed in many hotels in Birmingham and this by far was the most basic room especially for the 100 pound paid

Great location used to be regular visitor hotel visited after 12 months so many new faces. Dal and chad left new staff no personality and to the point. Would only stay again in view of convenience pay the extra and stay at Hyatt top class service from staff. Work going on broad street stats early

The best customer service of any hotel I have ever stayed in. Honestly. This was my second stay here and over the two nights 6 separate members of staff have gone above and beyond to assist including one of the managers. Comfortable, clean, common areas are modern and stylish. The separate toilet is a bit odd but literally the only criticism I could possibly make and well worth putting up with for everything else including location and price.

Friendly reception and staff. Comfortable room and nice bathroom. Quite basic aircon, but it worked fine. Good opening windows, but location a bit noisy. Nice restaurant and bar areas and an enjoyable breakfast. Towels were a bit rough but otherwise bathroom was well provisioned.
