Nice stay, great breakfast, lobby area and bar was intimate and good atmosphere. Some rooms felt a little dated not quite up to advertised standard, others were more fresh. Super location for exploring the city and the beach which was also the main reason for checking in here. Communication was a little bit lacking ; when I called ahead the day before to request double queen beds instead of King bed, I was told it was not available but was offered upgrade to suite for a modest upcharge. When checking in the suite featured only one king bed and sofabed. Upon notifying the front desk they were helpful and put us up in another room with separate queen beds Also, the security deposit was unlike anything else on the trip in the US; out of total charge approx $2300 the reserved amount to my card was $4000 which is excessive and not warranted when industry practice is to reserve the full amount and settle any charges minibar/restaurant upon check-out. Another small nuisance was the elevator blocks you from going higher than your own floor, so going up to visit the rooms of other people in our party was a chore. We appreciate the security of using the key card for the elevator but it should not be limited to ones own floor. Overall we are pleased with this hotel especially the location, shopping nearby, hop on bus tours right across the street etc. Would recommend it!

The front desk staff was top notch. The rest of the staff was average and I'd say the room cleaning staff was below average. The hotel is in a great location. Seems a bit overpriced for what it is, being a bit dated, but maybe the price is based on the great location. I was satisfied with my stay but next time I'm in town I will most likely stay somewhere different and that is mainly based on the room cleaning staff not being up to the level I'd expect at a hotel of this type.

I checked in in a hurry, ran to drop off my bags. While upstairs I immediately noticed the room smelled like mold. Came down asked the front desk to please address to either fix the smell or move me. He said he would and to check the front desk when I returned to the hotel. When I returned another gentleman helped me and said he needed to go to the back to check on my room. 15 minutes later I was still waiting. He never returned. Finally the night manager Deborah saw me and helped me and resolved the issue for me . She was very kind.

Somewhat disappointed in the restaurant and it's selection/s. Thought there would be more choices available. This is a big deciding factor for me when we return to LA for follow-up at Cedar Sinai.

the room was very comfortable and the extras (house slippers, shoe bags, toiletries) were a nice touch. It was great to have coffee and tea in the lobby. Staff was very warm and friendly. This reservation was a part of a room block that I secured for the group.

When I first checked in I received a room that smelled like it was run down and molding. I went to use the restroom and felt a pinch on my bottom as soon as I sat down, the toilet seat was cracked in half and pinched my skin! I was in a rush to leave so I asked the front desk to move my bags into a different room. They’ve upgraded me to a nicer room and a higher floor with a nicer view. But I do not feel like it was enough of a compensation from my first impression.

The Sofitel is my go-to hotel for my bi-monthy business trips to Los Angeles. My work requires me to meet with clients, about six a day, in my room to demonstrate products. The concierge desk screens and allows them on the elevator, they act as a reception desk for me and make my life so much easier. (esp. Zervando, Megan and Joe) The front desk will also help if the concierge is away, and they always get me in my room quickly and sometimes surprise me with an upgrade. Housekeeping is always so helpful, especially Ernie who always has a smile on his face...and the bellman (Adonis and others I unfortunately can't remember all their names.) make getting in and out with all of my gear stress-free. The staff is very accommodating and sincere, not like some of the stuffier hotels in LA & Beverly Hills. (Where you know they are required to say their lines, "It would be my pleasure..." but they probably don't mean it.) It has everything I need, staff is beyond helpful. So glad I'm developing a relationship with everyone there.

I came in on the fly last week while on the road working and was in need of a room for the night. Called in-house reservations and they granted me my special rate that I normally receive with no issues. The staff made everything go so smoothly. I checked in and was automatically upgraded on my room which was a very pleasant surprise. I was able to go to my room and be amazed by the room amenities and especially the waterfall shower head!! I got dressed quickly and I was able get to my dinner meeting on time. As a working professional that is on the road traveling quite a bit I can appreciate the ability of the entire staff that made great efforts to accommodate me quickly and provide a wonderful stay and experience. Everyone from the folks at the front desk to the bartenders at the in-house lounge always provide tremendous service. Everyone including management should be commended! Thank you very much!
