It was okay except the front desk staff were not that friendly. When my husband’s card key didn’t work, he was basically told that it did and was forced to go to the front desk 3 times to resolve. When mine didn’t work the next day, the representative was clearly annoyed and told me that I put it next to my phone and that’s why it didn’t work. Maybe, but am I not a customer just trying to get into my hotel room? It is sometimes hard to keep card keys away from cell phones when you have small children.

I really enjoyed the stay. I liked the varied breakfast. The sauna and hammam were very nice. The hotel was clean. The people at the reception were generally friendly although I would like more attentive service from some especially on matters related to e.g., my lost luggage. Unfortunately sound insulation was very bad. I could hear all noises from the street. Given that the purpose of my trip was business it was unfortunate that I could not sleep so well because of these disturbances.

I did enjoy my stay and the upgrade was very welcome, the room 311 was and is very dark, and I would suggest a standing lamp to add, because it is almost impossible to properly work on the desk with the lack of proper lightning. FO & Housekeeping OK, restaurant personnel, much less.

We always stay here when we visit Ghent, which is usually around 4 times each year. It is a lovely hotel to stay at. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the city. There is actually an outdoor swimming pool there which has to be a first. Lovely courtyard to sit in in the good weather and have a drink. The bar area is very nice with reasonably priced drinks. Although we did not eat there the food looked very good. The rooms are a good size and the bathrooms have very good showers. Best of all is the situation, it is very central. Secure parking underneath but would recommend booking. We love it.

Firstly, there is no doubt the hotel is in a prime position and that it is a big plus. However, We found that the room was completely overpriced at 170 pounds ( without the breakfast !) considering the low quality of it. The decor is depressingly dark and dull, dated and unkempt, the toilet room door damaged inside and the room not really clean. I found a lot of dust on the toilet holder and other places. We had to change room because the first one was very noisy due to ducting. Lastly, the breakfast was an unpleasant experience as well, The dining area was too small for the months of guests and there was constant queueing for what I would call very basic food. We came at 9:30 and already there was no more salmon already. The cooked breakfast I could’ve done a lot better, it’s simply not done well. If I’d known that I would not have opted to pay €20 for such low quality food. I stayed at the Marriott hotel sometime ago for the same price and the difference is striking. Your hotel doesn’t match up at all.

So 80 euros charged to my bill, to see if I noticed? It is "policy" at this hotel to put those charges on "guests" bills and "remove them on checkout". Huh? Policy? The "our guests are suckers" policy? The "let the buyer beware" policy? The "policy of unauthorized charges"? Really?? Also, as an Accor hotels member, calling down to have unauthorized charges removed defeats the "fast checkout" concept. I'm sticking with the belief of this hotel that they subscribe to the "our guests are suckers" policy.

The lobby is open and feels welcome, but the moment we stepped out of the elevator, it feels outdated and gloomy. The room was not properly cleaned. The small items such as a remote control and an electric kettle were dusty.

Fornthe pruce we paid the rokms are too small and old style. Please chnsgebthe room atmosphere.. Pepople are friendly but the rooms were not ok.

« Brilliant Hotel in the best location for stay »

This was the first time we stayed in Gent. Our visit was mainly for the Christmas stalls and market. The Hotel in located on its doorstep just walk out the back entrance and we were right in the centre of it all.
