« Handy location for Metro not the best area for local cuisine »

The hotel is situated immediately next to Esplanade de La Défense metro station, and a N13 and A14 major roads. I will stress we did not hear any noise from these during our stay. The room was large with a settee, decent bathroom but with separate toilet which I found claustrophobic. A useful inclusion in the room is an internal door within the room that closes our any noise from the corridor. The room included tea and coffee making facilities, but disappointingly, the cups were paper, so although there were severals sachets of of coffee, teabags and fruit/herbal teas it was only realistically to have one hot drink a day. Breakfast was not the best I have had at at a Novotel. Judge this by the Novote in Berlin which has set the standard. There is a huge selection of food including, sausages, boulettes, bacon, cold meats, cheeses and smoked salmon. Lots of fruit, cereals, yogurts etc and eggs and omelet cooked to order all from a large accessible serving area. At Novotel Paris La Défense the selection is minimal, and the breakfast bar is badly placed, the cold meat, cheese, coffee machines and yogurts back onto the pancake machine, egg fryer and hot food. With lots of people trying to get to all the food, it was havoc. There is a small hot plate for guests to fry their own eggs, with an ineffective small wooden spatular for turning. I would suggest a better place is along the back wall and along the side to the kitchen. The coffee and fruit scones were good

Clean, tidy hotel within walking distance to metro (M1) which easily connects to Champs Elysee, Arc de Triompe and Eiffel tower in a few minutes.

« Food offer appalling on a Saturday Night »

The room was great -just what we expect from from a Novotel. We came to Paris to go to The Ryder Cup and upon returning to the hotel exhausted on the Saturday night just wanting to have room service and an early night we were told that due to staff shortages there was no room service. So we went downstairs to the restaurant but it was closed. Reception told us that this too was due to staff shortages. We were told that the only food on offer was in the bar. Bearing in mind that the hotel was really busy we got in the bar, queued for 20 mins to get a menu and we’re to,d that someone would come to our table to take our order. 30 mins later no-one had come so back to the queue at the bar and was promised that someone would be there “as soon as they had finished serving drinks”. We waited and a lovely (apologetic) lady came and took our order but said that it would be a while until our food arrived. We waited 40 mins to get a bottle of water, a further 10 mins for our entree (crispy chicken salad which had three measly pieces of chicken and was swimming in oil) and then a further 30 mins for our main (fusilli in tomato sauce with oven roasted vegetables). What arrived was a tin dish with luke warm spaghetti with almost no sauce, a scattering of pieces of aubergine and tomato and caperberries with the stalks still on. We ate about four mouthfuls and decided we would rather be hungry. I then went to pay and they couldn’t put it on the room as “they didn’t have our card details - which they took on reception when we arrived. So off to reception the waiter and I went and at that point I had had enough and complained. The ladies on reception apologised profusely and toldme that we would not be charged for the meal. The next day I was talking to another staff member (not on reception) who said that the hotel is constantly understaffed, that they have complained about it time and time again but are getting nowhere with the owners. She actually said that she feels sad coming to work because she loves her job but knows that there will be angry customers every day because they are not being looked after well enough. What an indictment! The owners obviously care more about profits than they do their guests.. Would we stay at a Novotel again. Yes. Would we stay at the Novotel La Defense again. Definitely not!

First time visited Paris and I heard certain zones in Paris are not safe so I chose La Défense district and it is good zone to stay. The hotel is next to the subway station. It very convenient to catch the train to go downtown. I am very satisfied stay in Novotel Paris La Défense.

« Need a more flexible early check in policy »

The location was a little out of the way,but the close location to the Metro makes up for it. I was disappointed at the early check in charge of 49eur. Seems to me you could be a little more flexible with people that flew overnight. Especially if a room is ready. With the addition of the early check in fee, there is no real economic advantage to stay here.

« Poor operation and Terrible ! »

Facility and location of hotel are good considering the value & price. However, they have serious issues in hotel operation and service for customers. I asked the staff to change a room after I found my assigned room's air conditioner was not working in peak season of summer in Aug but the reception staff suggested to stay there because they felt the room was not hot - Everybody feels the different temperature. Who can endure no air conditioner in peak summer ?After my appeal, they changed the room at the end but it was not the end of poor operation. They were irritated when I found there was no small table in the room and asked it (I saw it in my before changed room where air conditioner was broken). They should have apologized politely not to prepare a room. Also I had to re-register my room key almost everyday because they did not renew my stays during my almost one week of stay in this same hotel. Serious issue for no professionalism of staff and no service mind for customers.

Descided after my last visit to choose the neighbour hotel due to limited breakfast and condition of hotel rooms. I got an room upgrade with view over Paris (Eiffeltower, even if no so close).Helpfull staff, clean rooms and it has a bar on the ground floor. Breakfast is served in two locations (on ground floor), be aware that it is limited in one place, so if you have brekfast included check to choos the correct location.

« very good location for my purpose »

when checked in there was no electricity in the room due to maintenance work. bad timing and inconvenient. the room 1426 had no A/C. I complained several times about the lack of cold air coming out of the unit but the A/C was never fixed by the maintenance staff of the hotel
