« A great place to stay »

An excellent Novotel. Room was generous, clean, well appointed and the bed really comfortable. Restaurant was good and breakfast options were good too. Loved the free parking outside! Was really to easy to find - not far from motor way access. While the town centre was a bit far away to walk, the drive was easy. Staff were friendly and accommodating and spoke English well. Would definitely stay here again.

« Disappointing - not a good reflection on the Novotel chain »

What was clear to me was that this hotel is lacking clear leadership and s supervision. Staff seem lacking in support or even a presence from management! The pluses for this hotel are the swimming pool, comfortable rooms, helpful reception and efficient beverage service. Against: its is situated in an out of town shopping area, convenient for the motorway, but not for access to the town centre; On the Saturday night staff seemed very stretched - many clients very disappointed (some annoyed) with the delay in being served (over one hour for the first course, - a salad); despite a special request dietary at the time of booking, none was available at dinner on the first night; poor quality of food - the Thai noodles were cold and had to be reheated; a contributing factor was that the individual who seemed to be supervising didn't attempt to address the clients' concerns - very poor communication. Breakfast was better supported by staff who seemed aware of the need to redress the issues of the Friday night.

Our team is doing his best but you're right, on this saturday night we had many clients at the restaurant and not enough waiters, so too much waiting in that case. We are really sorry about this lack and will fix the inconvenience with the maître d'hôtel. Also sorry if the new Novotel menu and the dishes you ordered disappointed you. Indeed, the hotel is not situated in the city center but it is easy to reach it by car in ten minutes. « All good for the 4 of us »

Great receptionist, fast check-in, fast check-out. Room was clean, staff on the floor very nice (teased child's discussed a bit), room was very quiet all night long. At breakfast, at 9AM, there was still choice, fresh fruits, coffee and cups and all kind of food, that was perfect.

Having asked for a smoking room, which I got, I also asked for an ashtray in the room when I booked online. I have stayed at this Novotel many times, and there has never been an ashtray in a smoking room. This necessitates a trip to the bar to get one, and having asked for one when booking this time, I do wonder why this small request was not actioned and why this particular hotel has never provided one when I have always had one provided in other Accor hotels in smoking rooms. A small problem, but a rather irritating one for someone with mobility issues, and it would be reassuring if requests at booking, where reasonable, could be actioned by hotel staff.

« Everything good as usual, except the restaurant with some problem »

We always stop at Novotel in Narbonne every time we go to Spain (in the way back we stop in Novotel in Aix-en-P) and have dinner in the hotel restaurant. This time every thing fine as usual except two minor things: 1) On arrival in early afternoon (2.30 p.m) the room was not yet ready, although our arrival time was specified on reservation by phone. However it was a very short wait. 2) The meat chosen by my wife from the daily menu was quite hard. Surprising for being in the daily menu!

« Nice, clean hotel »

Everything was perfect except that I had booked a room for 2 adults and 2 kids and notified the hotel we would be arriving late. Upon arriving at almost 1 am the bed for the kids were not made up. We were expecting the room to be ready for us and not have to make the bed for the kids in the middle of the night! Apart from this glitch in service all was well.

« quick stop »

We were driving back to Germany from Spain. This stop was along the way. We drove up to the hotel to see if they had rooms available for family of 4. The room was a perfect size for 2 children (seperate twin beds) and 2 adults. The food was fabulous! We were so tired from driving that we stayed in for dinner. We were happy with the results. Both dinner and breakfast were wonderful.

It served its purpose for two days, but any longer would have been difficult as the room had very little storage space for two people.

« Hotel fine, evening meal awful. Toilet compartment stupidly small, bathroom excellent. »

Whoever decided to serve a meal that requires a knife and fork to eat it in a 4" high stone cold soup bowl is daft. The chicken was dreadful, more like over-cooked steak. We complained and fortunately they deducted the cost from our account. Thus we didn't get a decent meal and you didn't get paid. What's the point of that? Stupid cold dishes provided for breakfast to put a fried egg on. How silly can you get? If you think that doing something different is clever it is not. Other people do not do that because it's stupid, you should know that. Do you all eat your food at home on cold plates? Pity you. We ate elsewhere after that experience. Once was enough.

A pleasant hotel. However, allocating rooms directly underneath a building site is not good hospitality. Building works, with associated noise, commencing at 7.00am is unacceptable. No warning of improvement works was given, either at time of booking or upon check-in. I expected more from Novotel.

Close to motorway exit though current road works make it mor difficult to exit from Spanish border. Hotel is comfortable and staff friendly.
