Located on the 1988 world expo site the Mantra at South Bank exemplifies Brisbane's development into a truely cosmpolitan City. Culture, entertainment and sporting centres are all with in easy walking access. The multiple dinning opportunities enhances the enjoyment of the locallity. The Mantra's good facilities and great staff makes for a perfect stay.

Disappointing and depressing!

Such a disappointment! We had a mix-up with the Courtyard Marriott in Brisbane and had to find a new hotel. They recommended The Mantra. They told us it was very similar to the Courtyard Marriott. THEY WERE WRONG! I was disappointed the minute I walked in the door. Unfortunately, we paid in full when we booked the room, and they wouldn’t allow me to cancel the reservation and receive a refund. The room they put us in was like a small apartment, which I didn’t consider too be an upgrade, as it was very outdated, dusty, and the shower leaked all over the place. This hotel needs major renovation including new paint, carpet, and a shower that doesn’t leak. And clean the curtains!! It was like staying at my 95 year old Grandma’s house…and NOT in a good way! Some of the staff was nice and seemed to genuinely care, but one young man at the front desk would never write down the time I needed my car ready in the morning to get to work meetings. So, I’d have to wait every morning for them to go get the car. I didn’t spend much time at the hotel because it was depressing!

First room had water dripping from a light fixture no room service menu or tv options. The second room had mould in the air-conditioning vent in the bedroom and mould on the curtains. Tried calling room service at dinner time with the call just ring ing out or 30mins so ordered uber eats.

Incredibly disappointing and sub par experience

No tv remote (took over an hour and a half to get one) Mold in shower and bathroom Mold around air conditioner Lamp shades dented Hand towel location ridiculous No full length mirror No useful lighting or mirror position for makeup Offered a bottle of wine as make up but never delivered it Air conditioning temp kept ramping up and down (over 25 down to 22) Reception understaffed and no support staff on site to assist with issues Had to leave bathroom door open to keep circulation in the room but the exhaust fan is noisy Crappy office chair provided for desk with sweat and dirt stains Lights out in the lift

The room assigned to me on the 6th floor was gross! No detail to cleaning. Mold on the curtains, the bed linen smelly & mold on ceiling, around aircon ducts & in bathroom. After relaying my concerns, I was moved to the 7th floor which was a little bit better though still mold in the shower & a bit smelly. They did say they’d had trouble with water leaking to rooms! However still placed me in a damp smelly room! The lamps in the rooms were old and decaying and stained. It’s clear no one checks the rooms before guests arrive. I will never stay here ever again. I purchased 2 rooms costing me $888.
