Fast deteriorating airport dormitory

Fast deteriorating, tobacco smoke, and synthetic fragrance fugged, expensive airport hotel in a liminal setting overlooking too many lanes of series of motorways to count visible through filthy rotting windows shrouded in repeatedly repaired yellowing net curtains. Lights in room have two settings: brighter than the sun or darker than the dark side of the moon. Weird beds evoke falling into a coffin and offer nil support. Odd machine noises in wall persist all night and day. Buffet staff do not speak english nor replenish items - and the food quality is poor. Very few amenities provided. Don't subject yourself to this faux palace.

Staying at Sofitel Shanghai Hongqiao is always a comfy and enjoyable experience. The sprawling and magnificent architecture, the swanky décor, hotel’s modern facilities and heartful staff, all of that bring us with an unforgettable experience of authentic luxury that the Sofitel brand spearheads. A great staying experience in a hotel is the result of the collaborative efforts paid by its people. We would like to give our special thanks to those people who make that wonderful stay with Sofitel Shanghai Hongqiao for us: Front Office, Front Desk & Executive Lounge: Christina, Annie, Andrey, Amy, Raquel, Noelia Restaurant: Sunny Engineering Department: 蘆心兵, 陳運紅 We look forward to coming back soon in the future!

Not a good choice in Shanghai, poor manteinance and most of the staff does not speak English

Most of the staff, since the front desk to the room service, does not speak English. Also the property is neglected. The building is beautiful, but the administration and maintenance is poor. I chose this hotel because is close to the train station but it was a bad choice.

Great location. Great western breakfast options eggs toast bacon along with traditional Chinese. Very easy to get connected to the wifi. Very close proximity to airport and train stations. Will stay again when needed to be back for work. Great aircon in the room as it was hot hot hot.

It’s our 2nd time staying at Sofitel Shanghai Hongqiao Hotel. Being located in a tranquil neighborhood not far away from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA), the hotel gives a good choice of having a comfortable stopover if you have a domestic flight transfer in Shanghai. As the hotel is not under the air routes of the airport’s routinely busy arrivals & departures, the hotel is much less annoyed by aircraft noise. What welcomed us when entering the hotel was still the gorgeous lobby & nice hotel staff. Check-in was efficient & smooth. I received a room upgrade as usual since I’m a Platinum member of Accor Hotel. The hotel concierge facilitated the whole check-in process, with his warm & proactive service style, from the very beginning moment that we arrived in the hotel. When getting into the room, welcome amenity has already been arranged, and the first impression of the room? It’s really, really HUGE! Sofitel is known for its comfortable beds, so you won’t need to worry about it. As a brand dedicated to bringing the authentic experience of French lifestyle to its guests, the decoration of its guest room & other communal areas of the hotel fit to that keynote. We enjoyed afternoon tea & happy hour in the hotel’s lobby bar. Possibly because it was close to the Lunar New Year, and possibly because the hotel industry in China has not recovered from the past challenging years of the 0-COVID policy, there are not many guests in the hotel. What was accompanied with, hotel manpower was carefully planned. The only attendant in the lobby bar took great care of our needs, the service team of buffet restaurant still provided high-quality breakfast service to the very few guests on the day that we stayed with them. I tried their dinner buffet during our last stay, I was really impressed by its wide range of dishes offered in the buffet & its fresh, delicious foods. For curiosity, I decided to revisit their dinner buffet that is on offer this time. It was as good as last time. The restaurant chef told me that they overhauled the desserts section and I did find there was big progress made since my last experience. Special thanks should be given to Thomas (Concierge), Nicole (Front Office), Lori (The Lobby Bar) & Jerry (Assistant F&B Director), as well as Arvin & the lobby staff who, together with Thomas, assisted us dealing with our shopping experience at the jewel store in the hotel on the day of our check-out. We look forward to seeing them again!
