Stay at Ibis Budget Hotel

Standard Ibis budget hotel situated 10 km from Rennes and close to a highway. The breakfast was good. There is a Bufallo Grill restaurant nearby and Carrefour shopping center as well as Burger King fast food service facility. In general, the hotel and the services met my expectations.

I found the hotel better than expected for a budget hotel - my room was excellent, the staff very polite and helpful. It turned out to be very good for an overnight stop when travelling on business. I think that 200 words is a little over the top if you want people to respond to your questionnaire.

Although reception staff were courteous was appalled to discover that the room we had been allocated stank of cigarettes before we even opened the door! We asked for another room which was a bit better although we were told that it might not be possible to change. We had stayed at the Ibis hotel San Malo route but decided on this hotel because of its position - we will not use this hotel again but will use the San Malo one which is much, much better in all ways and has a secure car park. This hotel is a real disappointment to the Ibis name.

This Budget Ibis was typical of the chain. It is a basic room for a decent price. We stayed three nights and I had trouble with the internet each evening. The young lady who worked the evening shift was extremely patient, kind, and competent. She was able to do something to "fix" it so I could use it each night. Room was good but I don't care for the "rain forest" shower head.

I would not normally write a review on hotels of this type as there is normally little point. IBIS Budget are one of a chain of hotels offering basic room only accommodation for those looking for basic room only accommodation. But the Tripadvisor reviews on this particular one are two years out of date now and are not representative so in fairness should be updated. It has been renovated with replacement carpets and décor in that time and is clean and fine for what it is. It is situated in a huge industrial estate right next door to a nice restaurant and many other facilities if you should have need of them and very convenient for access into and out of Rennes. The breakfast is basic but at 4 euro perfectly adequate and good value. If you want something better however there are plenty of other places in the vicinity to frequent. I paid 48 euro for bed and breakfast for three people admittedly on a Friday night which is astonishing value and hardly grounds to complain about anything. The only reason it doesn't get a 5 point rating from me is because that is not what these places are about. It is good for what it is.
